This is the single best golf tip in my entire 57 years of playing golf. The impact of this simple adjustment is mind boggling for me. It made a huge difference in my round of golf today. Thank you!
I did exactly what you said and shot the best round in years. (75) I hit the straightest shots EVER!!!! Thank you so much for this amazing lesson. Can’t wait to play again soon.
Played golf yesterday…i practises this before every swing and just calmed it down a bit and focused on what he said..I hit my first 90!! Christmas miracle indeed!
I've watched many hundreds of golf videos on TH-cam but this is the very first one introducing me to this concept. That is amazing in itself. But, also, you explained everything so clearly and precisely I'll have no trouble working on it in the morning when I next play golf. Great job!
I can forgive the ‘what nobody’ title for such a useful lesson. Thanks. (Tried this today and hit better than I have for ages, especially irons. Once again thank you).
I tried this yesterday and shot one of my best rounds of the year. Iv have been struggling recently with getting stuck in the downswing and not releasing the club properly, this seems to have really helped iron these issues out. Amazing how much difference a simple set up change can make, thank you!
I watched this video two hours before playing and wow what a difference it makes. Shot one of my best scores ever. I’v never had a video make such an impact on my game so quickly. This is basic fundamentals but so easily forgotten along the journey of trying to figure out the best golf swing for me.
Alex, a great tip, thank you. I’ve recently “rediscovered” this as part of my set up, and what a difference it makes! My ‘feel’ is that I’ve gone “long arms”. The arms are structured as you recommend yet no tension in arms/shoulders. Thanks again for stepping through the whys and how’s of this set up tweak. Cheers!😊
Absolutely amazing and simple. I’ve never known or heard this before which is scary. I checked PGA swings and you are spot on. I checked mine and it was the bad position you mentioned. I changed it and it instantly brought unity to my arms. It’s like not moving your hips when putting. Such a key thing but no one ever teaches it. TY!
This is the best lesson I've ever watched period!! Took this to the range and practice area today and ohhh my what a difference. With sincere thanks Mate. Dave in Thailand
Porzak teaches the "giving blood" of the right arm to keep the right elbow in place. I've been working on this heavily, right arm rolled in and left arm a bit pinched in and its made a HUGE difference in ball striking and consistency. Dont be afraid to exaggerate this. As you get more comfortable, you'll find your sweet spot of keeping "connected" in your swing. This content is vital IMO and I've been to multiple "coaches" that never mentioned this at all even though high hands and the chicken wing were a fault of mine for a very long time.
Very well said. And yes, too many teachers and players skip over this type of stuff. But get consistent with them and the consistent shots are just easier :) Cheers!
This is the best golf tip. I’ve gotten in years. Thank you very much. I can’t wait to take it to the driving range tomorrow. My swing is very much disconnected.
This advice is amazing and never talked about. You’re the best! I’ve been feeling disconnected with my arms and couldn’t figure out why. Tried this at home and now it feels connected! Can’t wait to try this at the range and on the course.
I can not say how I thank you for this lesson.. I've been playing golf since 2 years ago and finally I found the cause of my lack consitency in my swing. I applicate your instruction in this video and I have solid contact with golf ball in most of my swings.. again thank you and cheers from Indonesia (I am sorry for my bad english)
I saw your video last night. Went and played this morning. It’s amazing on how well I struck the ball. I’ve been so FRUSTRATED with the way I’ve been hitting my driver and long irons. But after trying this today it was remarkable on how well I hit ( all )my shots. I’m intrigued with the results. I’m not saying all my shots were perfect but I was so impressed on how straight and consistent they were. Will need to continue practicing this new style. And hopefully i’ll be shooting into the mid to low 70’s very soon. Looking forward to my next practice session. Your video changed my game completely. Thank you again.
I watched the video and it really makes sense. Heard it in different ways over the years but it just didn’t register enough I guess. TRIED THIS YESTERDAY-DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENT! Thank you
Im a weightlifter who also casually golfs and Ive always had a problem with my chest getting in the way of my arms during the backswing. This drill did WONDERS for my consistency, well done sir 👏👏
I’m right there with you!!! Having lifted for years have fought this and really till watching this I didn’t realize what I needed to do to try and work around it.
Amazing tip. I always feel crammed in my swing. Now I know why! My arms being pinned at my sides made it very uncomfortable. Now I feel there is more room to swing. You are the only instructor I have seen to address this. Thank you so much!
I am a 10 handicap with goal of getting to 6-8 range. I came across this lesson and it made perfect sense to me. I took it directly to the course and wow...hit 50% greens in regulation and flushing shots that I was previously struggling with...helped me with shot alignment and my speed of play....cant wait to play more rounds and work on improving my consistency with this method of addressing the ball and swing. Thanks! I'll be watching this channel a lot!
Well I’m glad you’re with us and well done for getting that result right away! Keep with it and let us know. I’m sure other lessons of ours will resonate and help a good amount too 💪🏌️♂️⛳️
Brilliant. Thanks. I know exactly how both swings feel and hadn't worked out the cause. Thanks for making me aware what has caused it and how to prepare better.
I've been having issues with my irons lately and didn't know why. I knew it had something to do with the back/down swing because both felt disjointed...exactly as you mentioned. I'm so relieved I found your video, it corrected the issue immediately. Thank you so, so much!
Great video. Lots of videos on here about keeping elbows together but most will not have your in depth on why and how, leaving you with a rigid and tense upper body. Love your explanation on this. Thank you for sharing
This is something I do on the range and it's a "Eureka!" moment when I see the ball flying straight. For some reason, though, I slowly revert back to my old elbows-out setup and the struggles begin. Then I think of the "Iron Byron" swing machine and imagine trying to make two arms into one, almost like an elephant's trunk. Since it's the right arm that tends to fly away, it helps to attempt to keep the right elbow as close to the left as possible. It's amazing how many times I have to rediscover the things that work and it was refreshing to find this video that reinforces keeping the elbows together.
This drill helped me more than all the claseses I have already taken (Im a golfer enthusiast from Argentina I have this arm problem you described, i put your tips in play today and not only I hitt all my ddivers innthe fairway but 20 more yards with each club!! Thanks thanks thanks a lot!!!
I readjusted my arms following this video and WOW started to nail my irons and driver, great video. It’s going to take a few rounds to get used to the extra distance, I’m literally 2 clubs longer than last week 😂
By coincidence I focused on this change yesterday for mobility and solid shots and it helped. This tip is in line with DeChambeau's slight arm twists on chest in one of his swing tutorial videos.
謝謝!thanks a lot! This video just let my swing more naturally and I found that I can really make the swing smooth and released the club I just tried 4-5 times swing as what you teaching, totally understand the key point you want to show us. It’s an natural body movement.
I went to range and hit 2 buckets of frustration today. Not bad shots, but weak and inconsistent. I know what impact position should look like, but I’ve always struggled to get there. I reverse engineered everything and ended up at the arms at address. This video speaks to EXACTLY what I’ve been struggling with and the fix seems so simple. I can’t wait to take this to the range! Thank you!
That's interesting. Recently I was watching a putting video and I saw this identical tip. I've had difficulties with hitting my putts solidly so I thought I would try this. It worked effectively. Until I watched this video, I hadn't thought of applying this method to the full swing. I'll try it. Thanks.
I'm very thankful for this golf tip. It has made a huge difference in my game already. Thank you Alex.. for loving the game, and sharing with us struggling amateurs 😊
I just shot my personal best of 84 on a much more difficult course than I usually play on this tip alone. I didn’t even get a chance to practice it before. Thank you so much!
I was all sudden shanking the ball and for the life of me couldn’t figure it out. I rounded my shoulders a bit at address which basically does what you are saying and it established a consistent center strike on all my clubs….an absolute godsend! Great video. For people shanking there are all sorts of videos about open club faces or early extension…I knew I wasn’t doing that….thanks again for this video!
Here’s what I just sent to Alex Elliott, which describes the results of a range session just now that included your tip here with his drills to get left shoulder up and right one down … Just back from an interesting range session using your two points from yesterday and AOSG’s suggestion (also yesterday I think) how to get upper arm-chest contact in front instead of the side. Definitely got more consistency and integrated the hips better. Unsure how down my right shoulder got, but my contact was better, strikes were closer to center face, and my L-R dispersion was reduced. Lighting late in the day on our range limits my ability to see on the ground much beyond 100-150 yards, go I have to go on trajectory, and if I track them, I can see until they drop through the darker background of the trees. And I had a lot of nicely struck balls - some clubs every ball, which is not the norm for me. I have been making my early downswing slower since a pulled rib muscle in April, and I have had some success with that too. I’m looking forward to the Wednesday and Thursday games. Thanks to both Alexes! Interesting point for AOSG tip about arms. Last year, which was my first playing very much, I usually shrugged my shoulders to make sure my shirt didn’t bind in the armpit, mostly for comfort. Since a lesson about 8-9 months ago, I’ve stopped doing that, with really frustrating inconsistency since then. I hope today’s session is representative going forward. Thanks Alex F!
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I’m being careful to screen things that work together. These did for me - yours I think a little more than his. But I was having both kinds of problems, and todays range session held a lot of promise.
Brilliantly, clear explanation as always and a tip I’ve never seen before. Maybe this is one of my issues. I’ll certainly be trying this out. Thank you.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I will but it certainly will take a little time to adjust. Changing 29 years of bad habits! The hardest game I’ve ever played and it’s not getting any easier as I approach 60! 😉😂
Thank You Thank You for this video. I am a 3 months old 30 handicap and learning golf. Had severe consistency with my iron and I used your tip today and all my 9 holes I haven’t duffed or toped the ball
Excellent tip! It makes the arms naturally become levers of the body. Moreover, it naturally leads to a shallowing out of the golf swing on the way down.
Excellent! It's all there in the set up! When I look at Ben's arms they seem unnaturally "twisted". Now I understand why. Rather than my elbows leaning out Ben's arms are more straighter, pointed to the grip. More like a pendulum. Thank you for pointing out something that I've pondered on but never really understood.
Legit explanation. I always get my stand first then squeeze my arm. Never know to just rest my triceps lightly in relaxed manner. Definitely give it a try.
Alex, this is brilliant in the simplicity of the explanation to the clear steps to implement this change. I immediately felt the difference in the swing and most importantly the results. Also had success with the mental reminder of "structure with movement or flow" while avoiding tension. Thank You!
I can't wait to try this. That is exactly how my arms look like! Hopefully this will help me keep them straight and get me to the correct distance to the ball at adress.
Thank you sir I appreciate all of your hard work bring us great information and how to use the information. I needed to hear this, this will definitely help me because I’ve used the towel never understood what it was doing to my full swing. Thanks
Hi Alex, Thanks very much for this tip. Tried this arm position setup on the course today - Absolutely fantastic results. Also gained more than 20 metres with the driver and an effortless swing. I will go to the range tomorrow to confirm that they were not flukes.
Just to confirm that the ball striking consistency and greater distances were not flukes. I just had to remind myself to retain the feeling of the left arm being attached to the chest. If the result of my round on last Sunday is any indication, the improved distance on my drives, (I know where my drives can normally reach) I am hoping that this will eventually translate to lower scores. Alex, Thanks again.
Great tip. Love your work. Thank you for your effort. Took this to the range. Worked from the first shot. I've put the drill as my pre shot routine. Gained distance and accuracy. Give me a couple of weeks. Thanks again Eric
Ill try that tomorrow thank you! ... Update: it worked!!!!! Thank you. It absolutely works. I did not do the drills, just thought about your chest advice...what it did for me, is that I hit almost a whole bucket with my 4 iron consistently nicely...it feels strange at first, but it slows my swing into a nice rhythm and it makes the plane of the swing consistent. Personally, I have watched a lot of advice recently on the YT, and it messed up my swing, but with this advice, my swing is not only back, but much better and making solid contact.
At some point during the golf year I start to get disconnected and need to reboot. This tip is so much better than the old towel under the arm. Hit the range today and tried this out. Just what I was looking for. Thanks
Perhaps one of the best advice ever on connection. Is a fact the upper arms should stay connected for consistent swings the follow through is very key imho
Your videos have improved my game so much. My son said he was impressed with how much better I am striking the ball and the distance I have gained. Unfortunately the golf season in Canada is winding down....just when I felt I was making some progress...😢 However I will keep watching your videos all winter🥶 ❄☃️Cheers!
This is some of the best type of "blanket" instructions for the general public. Fundamentals that are universal for all swing types. My head spins when i see 20 hdcp players on the range rehearsing a golf swing by doing big exaggerated squatting moves and so on.

That’s great to hear well done! 🏌️♂️💪
Great tip. A major breakthrough !!!
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic advice! So easy to understand! Thank you enormously!
Great tip. Instant results. Balance is better as well.
Had to “Subscribe” after using this tip and having my best round of golf, thankful for these tips
Well done that great to hear!
Thanks for coming back to share and glad you’re with us now:) 🏌️♂️👍
Excellent tip! It makes the arms naturally become levers of the body. Moreover, it naturally leads to a shallowing out of the golf swing on the way down.
Absolutely!
Simple & efficient! Excellent drill, many thx
Glad you like it!⛳️🏌️♂️👍
Absolute lightbulb moment this! Thank you! Just did some chipping drills with this also and had some great centre contact
Sounds good to me! Well done and keep at it and keep us posted:)
I have been thinking about this aspect. Glad I found your video. thanks
Awesome tip and concept! Thank you!
Exactly! Glad to hear cleared something’s up for you and let us know how you get on in practice 🏌️♂️👍
Thank You!
Exactly the goal of the lesson and indeed our mission. Keep with it and glad you’re with us! 🏌️♂️👍
This will give you enormous power without effort.
Just took this drill to my backyard net. Feels natural and easy. Thanks Alex.
Excellent! It's easy but remember to keep doing it and keep suppleness still.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Absolutely.
I can't wait to try this. That is exactly how my arms look like! Hopefully this will help me keep them straight and get me to the correct distance to the ball at adress.
Good and remember to not let too much tension creep in
YES! This was what i was missing , thank you o thank you
Thank you sir I appreciate all of your hard work bring us great information and how to use the information. I needed to hear this, this will definitely help me because I’ve used the towel never understood what it was doing to my full swing. Thanks
That’s great to hear and I’m confident it’s going to help you move forward. Give it a go and let us know how it goes 🏌️♂️⛳️
This tip is gold dust! Yesterday, I took it to the course and I played so much better? It is very Ben Hogan and works a treat. Thank you.👍
Great job! 💪👍🏌️♂️
Love that awareness thought, nice tip
Glad it was helpful! 🏌️♂️👍
Makes perfect sense. Amazing
Glad to hear it
Hi Alex, Thanks very much for this tip. Tried this arm position setup on the course today - Absolutely fantastic results. Also gained more than 20 metres with the driver and an effortless swing. I will go to the range tomorrow to confirm that they were not flukes.
Well done indeed! I doubt they were were flukes. Just don’t try and force for distance etc. 🏌️♂️💪
Never could figure out how to get elbows close together without creating tightness. A great tip.
Exactly! 👍⛳️🏌️♂️
Used this tip at the driving range yesterday. Absolute game changer with getting my ball striking consistent. Thank you!!!
Great tip. Love your work.
Thank you for your effort.
Took this to the range.
Worked from the first shot.
I've put the drill as my pre shot routine.
Gained distance and accuracy. Give me a couple of weeks. Thanks again
Eric
Bro! Salute from Atlanta Ga! You have saved my golf swing! Seriously! Thanks 🙏🏿
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad I could help improve your golf swing. Keep at it:)
انا من المغرب اشكرك على الشرح الجيد ان هده الفكرة جيدة و كنت محتا جا اليها شكرا جزيلا.
My pleasure happy golfing 🏌️♂️👍
Thank-you so much. First being shown this, even though I've asked and wanted to know this exactly. Especially helpful for women.
Thank you kindly! Glad to hear it resonated🏌️♀️
Personally, I have watched a lot of advice recently on the YT, and it messed up my swing, but with this advice, my swing is not only back, but much better and making solid contact.
exactly what ive been struggling with thanks bro🤙🏾🤙🏾
GREAT TIP---THANK YOU
You're welcome!
At some point during the golf year I start to get disconnected and need to reboot. This tip is so much better than the old towel under the arm. Hit the range today and tried this out. Just what I was looking for. Thanks
Totally ID with this, the arms often wreck what I thought was gonna happen, great explanation and clearly demonstrated
Smashing the ball. Thanks
Very nice info Alex, can’t wait for my range session tomorrow.
Let us know how you get on!
I'm going to try this action as I have not been able to improve my shots no matter how much I try. Thank you.
How did it go?
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf certainly helping but I am still practising
自分は両脇を確り締めて打つのを意識していますが窮屈でミスショットする時もあり悩んでました。
両腕を胸の前で合わせる方法を試してみます。
ありがとうございました!
Yes this should help a lot! Let me know if good. 🏌️♂️👍
Wonderful. Thank you very much for an excellent tip 🙏
You are so welcome!
This is some of the best type of "blanket" instructions for the general public. Fundamentals that are universal for all swing types. My head spins when i see 20 hdcp players on the range rehearsing a golf swing by doing big exaggerated squatting moves and so on.
