Yes!!!!! When she wore the brown sweater in the Knotless video thumbnail 😍 that’s the reason I clicked and I’ve been here ever since.

The bob cut looks really nice and full. I can relate to not having time to invest in natural hair styling and maintenance. I got sisterlocks installed recently for the same reason and love them.

That blunt cut looks fabulous on you! I’m glad you’ve backed off of the monthly silk presses. From what you described; the thinning out of your hair, the permanent change in your curl pattern, you were headed towards damaging your hair, and some would argue that you did experience a level of damage. If your plan was to “heat train” your hair, that would have been a different story. I have fine strands and I only get a silk press 3-4 times a year because I feel it’s the best way for my stylist to see my ends to trim them. My hair reverts back every single time, but I’m always concerned about heat damage. I use Olaplex #3 after every silk press and I believe that helps,
I want to try that Suave dry shampoo. I used to use one that’s no longer available and I haven’t found a good substitute.
How do you maintain your silk press when you’re active? I sweat so much in my head that if I m very active, it’s bye bye to my straight roots.

I’m a wig natural most of the year. I only wear my hair out during the summer.

Love this blunt cut and brown top on you! 🤎
May we please get a “a week with a silk press” type of video, showing how it looks freshly done and how you maintain?

Not going to lie. I felt like this would happen when you said you were straightening it more. All I could think was damage 😓 I saw it with Octavia B with her relaxers. Now she is natural and trying to grow her hair back out from the damage. I hope it won’t end up like that. Anyway I’m all for black women deciding what to do with their hair. I just strongly think relaxers and heat all the time on natural hair cause damage or more damage. I just did a blow myself. Every 3/4 months for a trim and then I keep it twisted up or braided.

So true, the harsh reality is that very tightly coiled hair does not tolerate heat well at all, after regularly flat ironing, the hair is FRIED within only a few months and breaks badly. If the goal is length, heat is out of the question, if length is not the goal, then heat style as you please, and still then, a big chop will be inevitable. Another reality is that having straight hair saves soooo much time! This hair game really is a catch 22! Her blunt cut looks absolutely AMAZING omg!

I am trying to find out what my grown woman hairstyle will be. Had it pressed all throughout high school and then wore braids all throughout college because I didn't have the time or the patience to maintain it. I was wearing braids in corporate America but right when we went into lockdown I went to get the dead ends cut off and got a silk press. The silk press added a lot of volume that I wasn't used to but the humidity in the south immediately ruined it... I have just been doing a wash and blow-dry and a bun...I don't know what I am going to do. I have a big head so I like the volume /length that braids give me. They are low maintenance but they also give me a headache and ruin my edges. But my hair grows fastest in a protective style. At the same time, the wash and blow-dry is simple, but it's not super stylish. I still feel like I don't know what I am doing because my hair/scalp is always dry and the ends stay breaking off... maybe I just cut it short...? Sorry, I am rambling - your style is amazing and inspiring!
