    People wanted to give his ex crap for divorcing him, but she was right to do it; he's a big baby that wastes every opportunity to improve himself, and never learns his lesson. It's a bad idea to try to build a life with someone like that.

    I'm reminded of that one line from BoJack Horseman. "You can't keep doing this! You can't keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about yourself like that makes it okay! You need to be BETTER!"

    • @vixxcelacea2778
      @vixxcelacea2778 ปีที่แล้ว +74

      BoJack had to get to an extremely low point in life (MULTIPLE times) and have various influences in his life to explain to him that he needed to do the work to make himself better. He had to realize his mother was a POS, but also a victim of her own abuse situation and that it just got passed on to him. He nearly died in the process and was only saved by luck.
      Realizing what you need to do doesn't mean you're capable of doing it. Especially when the rest of the world tells you it's all on you. BoJack would have greatly benefited from therapy much earlier on and someone telling him that bad things just plain happen and it fucks people up and fucked up people fuck up others. And to remedy that, sometimes you have to painfully pry out the glass shattered through no fault of your own from your body. And it's painful, agonizing, terrifying and it's something your entire being will scream to plead and beg you to stop, but you can't stop. You have to get it out or it will cause bigger problems.
      Fear, that's what stops people from becoming better. And fear is more powerful than people give it credit for. It regulates our behavior, it keeps us safe just as much as it messes up our lives.

      @@vixxcelacea2778I suffer from depression, so I can relate to Boogie somewhat, but I don't even share my troubles with family or friends, let alone the whole world through the web. I feel embarrassed to talk about it, and it's kind of provocative how Boogie gets to use his mental health issues as excuses and complain on the internet, while having enough money to pay for several private therapists that I guess costs $200 an hour. Meanwhile, I have to wait six months in a public health care queue only to get declined help because I'm not a danger to society. If I could afford to pay for a private psychologist, it would help me a lot. Then Boogie goes to TH-cam and begs for money after losing his crypto value, while still having his toys worth thousands of dollars in the background. I had to sell my guitar I got from my late grandpa in order to pay for rent because my mental health issues made it hard to get work. Not trying to make myself look like a victim, it's just that I feel Boogie complains when he actually has it pretty nice.

      No no she should have either stuck with his annoying ass or not married him at all.
      We need to hold a higher standard for marriage than the boomers did...the standards they gave us around marriage are so low...with the effort put into vetting our partners being no exception.
      People need to at least _treat_ marriage as if it's a forever obligation, but instead everyone relies so much on divorce being an option that nobody takes the vetting process nearly as serious as they used to in the past. We are lucky to live in a time where divorce is an option in our lives, but with that comes a responsibility to hold each other to a high standard as far as respecting marriage itself goes.
      .....you know if I could point to one thing that would make all the difference here, it would be if people put more effort into identifying the friends and family members who really have their back and will also give them the honest truth no matter what, and then rely more on those people's opinions regarding the character and virtues of any marriage prospects.....because today nobody really does this, and if they do there is never any of the thought behind it that I described above. Its all such a mess normally...

    But it feels much darker than that. She’s clearly much younger than him, and let’s face it, Boogie is not someone people would normally date, or stay in a relationship with. Him saying they met and bonded over their trauma made me uncomfortable.

    Boogie is almost 50 years old. I know a lot of people are more hopeful, saying "people can change" over the years, but from what I've seen in life, it's incredibly rare for someone to change their personality and outlook on life after the age of 30. The problem with trying to change who you are when you are 50 is: the person already spent 30 years living their life in that mindset. It's so hard to stop doing something you've done for 30 years. At that point, it's like breaking a 30-year addiction. It is super rare for someone to change after that, but it is possible. I just doubt it from him due to how many times he tried to change. He has shown us time and time again that he's not ready to change.

    • @mikeexits

      Yeah, it's important to bump up your reflection and self awareness and stop BSing yourself early on. Otherwise it may take a potentially life-ending reality check to get you to sluggishly begin that process of change. Many don't, some do. I mean, people change all the time and every day in small ways at least, but some people loop rather than cycle forward. I always say "the moment you stop growing is the moment you start dying." Growth being mental/emotional/spiritual growth, not just physical.

  • @PichuFan4ever
    @PichuFan4ever ปีที่แล้ว +194

    Boogie reminds me a lot of a friend I had in highschool; we met in aerobics when I was a senior and she was a freshman. Literally the first conversation I had with her she rolled up her sleeves to show me her self harm scars, after which she told me her life story and all the awful things she'd been through; how her dad was always away in the military (can't remember which branch), how her mom was an alcoholic that didn't care about her, and how her older brother beat the tar out of her every day.
    Obviously I was shocked and scared for her, and I told her multiple times to tell the police/CPS, but she always brushed me off and said it was fine. The tipping point was the day she came in with a huge bruise under her shirt, which she showed me before class. She then told me her brother caused it by pushing her down the stairs, and that when she got home, she was going to end her life via alcohol poisoning. She made me promise not to tell.
    Despite this, I went to the gym teacher after class and told her everything, breaking down crying during the conversation. Ultimately she took my written statement and then contacted the principal, who in turn contacted the police.
    I didn't see my friend for a few days, but when she got back, she lit into me, screaming that I almost ruined her life and how I'm a lying piece of sh*t for not keeping my promise. She told me that her story about the stairs was "just a joke" and continued to berate me, leading to me leaving class early because I was so upset. Shockingly, we stayed friends after this, mostly because I was pretty naive back then and thought it was my responsibility to save her.
    I guess what I'm getting at is that sometimes people who are deeply traumatized never move past the stage of acknowledgement, and I think Boogie fits that description pretty well. He's so hooked on the attention, both negative and positive, that he can't imagine moving past his issues and living a normal life, even at the cost of his long-term relationships and happiness. I hope he escapes this rut someday, and stops dragging so many people down with him.

    They bonded because she opened up about her trauma and realized they were super compatible and 'shouldn't ignore that.' I highly doubt the gf said that, it sounds more like something a man in his 40s would say to a teenager who was dealing with trauma. The fact that he moved her in gives me isolation vibes. The fact that he keeps talking about how he 'can teach her things' or how 'he knows what she needs to do' are extremally concerning.

      I also just don’t get it. I never told anyone I wanted to die because I knew that when I finally went for it I didn’t want anyone to suspect it and try and stop me. I’m not saying people who post online about being suicidal aren’t “really” suicidal, I’m sure they are, but they’re indirectly asking for love and attention and concern. If you need love and attention there are ways to ask for that without making someone feel like it’s life or death. It’s so manipulative and so reprehensible.

      that's pretty basic suicidal ideation whether or not it's intentional - as far as openly expressing it, and then cycling in regret for doing so. I get accused of weaponizing it when just trying to warn friend's it's bad again. Of course it's different when you're broadcasting it to a platform, but also how would a suicidal person resist the allure of potential validation and a flood of support when they express their ideation. Just because a person cannot complete the act doesn't mean the ideation is disingenuous or unreal, but you can always acknowledge the damage it causes others, provided the right context. I just hate when cases like this are used to alienate others who are perceived as doing such because they're explicit about their feelings of ideation.

Her past started to meant shit when she opened herself to the posibility of makin her own life from scratch, so maybe that can work for you too.

It's all so shallow. It's 90% drama hungry hyenas. Especially the people making videos like this. One of boogie's major issues is that being so public is never going to help, and people's reaction is just to keep following him around. The first time I discovered Tom's video about "the fall of boogie", I was a bit shocked but after watching the video it made sense to me. He is a deeply disturbed man who needs real help. But the fact that even in 2023 he is still in the TH-cam news cycle sums up how I feel about this guy nowadays: exhausted.
    He is an exhausting individual. No matter how many times people try to help the guy, he spits in their face or retreats back into his old ways. I watched this video as a background for a grind I was doing in Final Fantasy 14, and even I am exhausted again after watching it. Boogie would make a great case study for how harmful a social media addiction can be. It's a shame that it's seemingly his sole source of income. It's like asking a 46 year old alcoholic, with virtually no marketable skills outside of drinking alcohol, to sample beer for a living and expecting them to stay on the wagon. I don't think he will ever find happiness until he deletes his socials and cultivates a support network of real people that actually care about him.

    " I was forced by my stupid brain to do it" this is such a sneaky way of not taking accountability for your actions while trying to look like you're taking accountability. You are your brain, you can't blame things on your brain like your Homer Simpson and it's doing its own thing... He really just needs to man up and take responsibility for everything in his life

      "You are your brain, you can't blame things on your brain like your Homer Simpson and it's doing its own thing..."
      It is doing its own thing. That's legitimately what mental illness is. You have irrational and (generally) negative reactions to specific stimulus. You have no control over it.
      A nice example is avoidant personality disorder. To make it simple it's that you automatically believe everyone hates you and that you'll always fail at anything you attempt to do. You can set up a thing where you will absolutely succeed, you can fully prepare for it, you can have all objective/empirical evidence that you can do it, but your brain just can't put that all together and then you'll either not even attempt the thing anyway or you'll have a panic attack while you're trying it and then end up actually failing and so reenforcing the illness.
      It's not something you do though, it's not something you can stop yourself doing, it's just faulty neurons.

      Trolling doesn't look so bad now, does it? I've always been disgusted by boogie's personality cult. I was subscribed to him for maybe a month in the old days. It was clear as day that he wasn't popular on his own merits; he was only famous because of his obesity making him a symbol for other people who looked like him, as well as playing the stereotypical character of the jolly fatty man while simultaneously feeding people sob stories. It all smelled rotten from the beginning, and being proven right after so long doesn't bring me any satisfaction.
