Nah, the public canning only last 2 minutes. Why ? Because sharia canning is not the same as civil canning. The cane size and technique are not the same. While 1 civil cannning will heavily damage the butt , bleeding and take month for it to heal before another 1, sharia canning not damaging at all. This law work because there's still higher shame awareness in the society

Uh.. I see people who are not Malaysian will misunderstood the location. No, it was NOT DONE INSIDE THE MOSQUE. It was done in a Dewan in Bahasa Melayu or translated to English is Hall. So he was caned infront of the public in a hall that is within the mosque area. Most mosque today have attached offices, classrooms, halls, and many more multipurpose rooms.
I bet there will be more people that will be voicing their objection to it. But seriously people, don't be hypocrites. Look at the many people asking the police or government to release the identity of criminals that was censored to protect his/her identity. "Why censored this criminal's face". "Why hide their identity." So on and so forth. So when these criminals and law offenders is publicly punished by the law, suddenly they say it is a form of torture? It is inhumane? it is against human rights? It is degrading? Stop exaggerating and stop with the double standard.
A public punishment is a good thing in my opinion. It serves as a warning and a reminder to others who watched it. It can act as a deterrent. AND IT WILL HELP MAINTAIN A FAIRNESS TO ALL WHO ARE PUBLICLY PUNISHED. Because there will be witnesses when the punishment is being carried. The person executing the punishment must do it fairly to all and follow exactly what supposed to be done or he will be held accountable for it. So instead of just leaving it 100% to the court, the public will also be involved in upholding the law. Which is what we all are supposed to do anyway.

    • @kokkintang9983

Friend, perhaps you have missed this point. Islamic affairs are administered by each state government , of which the respective sultans of each state is the head of Islamic affairs under the constitutional monarchy political system . Therefore, each state would implement Islamic Shariah laws differently. The 4 states of Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Trengganu are ruled by the democratically elected conservative Islamic politically party, PAS ( Parti Al-islam Se-Malaysia) . Hence, these state governments would implement a more stricter Shariah law that is approved by the state legislative assembly. What then is the federal government ( Putrajaya) 's role? It merely coordinate Islamic affairs ( excluding the Shariah laws) through the government agency , JAKIM . However, the Federal law, including the Penal code, is held supreme over state laws and no state law, other than those allowed, can supercede the provisions of the Federal law .

Since u are clueless, be educated Singapore’s caning is based on serious n dangerous crimes which harm others like armed robberies, rapes, assault with weapons, injuries etc.
Not for religious reasons like in the company of opposite sex or even committing adultery. 😆

Canning for “close proximity” for example talking to a lady who is not your relative? Anyway, I guess using ambiguous terms like "close proximity," especially in situations such as interacting with a woman who isn’t a relative, seems intentional. Certain authorities likely prefer such vague language because it allows for broad interpretation, enabling them to justify almost anything. In turn, this can be weaponized to target and persecute those who don’t conform to their specific man-made traditions.

It's good to have dream, even day dream.. but we are very certain that Malaysia will never make it to 1st world. Too many 3rd world mentality and religions crippling the country growth. The Chinese were having delusion that ringgit will grow and surpass SGD but they are still flocking to Singapore to earn SGD. Indians have no say in the country.. Malays are complacent and still living in stone age time frame. We sincerely wish you good luck. 🤣🤣🤣

Syariah Law is only applicable in several states and not the entire Malaysia. However the religious authority can still arrest misbehaving Muslims anywhere in Malaysia. Non-Muslims are not affected. I have been to Terengganu and Kelantan many times and do not see any issues there.

Once u bring religion into govt ,public , policy ,etc then problems starts.
Worse if u spend billions on religion?
Pm Anwar need to be blamed . He has no foresight , no pragmatism .He himself follows racial , religious policies n as FM allocates billions for religion !
PAS means *People Are Stupid* , People Always Stupid* ,*People Always Slander **
The Federal govt allocates yearly millions , billions to Kelantan , Kedah , Trengganu , Perlis ( Pas controlled states ) for economic development ,n how much goes for religions?
