This is a very well done video, Chris. I live in Calaveras, and I do tree work for a living, but I am appalled at what our predecessors did to the old growth forests. Big Trees is a planet wide treasure and one of my favorite places to go. Cheers, dude.

Thank you California Carpenter, fortunately there were some people back then who stood up to protect these giants! They are amazing...I appreciate the tree that work you do!

I can't believe that they used to cut those awesome trees down. What a shame. Something so beautiful takes thousands of years to develop and grow, then they cut them down in a matter of hours. Terrible.

  • @ruinsane100

I love that the state parks in CA don't allow hunting, so your wildlife has nothing to fear (and neither do hikers). I wish NJ would do the same, but hunters menace almost every single state park here, along with many county parks, municipalities public spaces and wildlife management areas. There are no virtually no safe places for hikers who seek distance trails to hike in safety here. Astonishingly, less than 2% of NJ residents hold hunting licenses, yet the 98% who don't have to take their lives in their hands if they want to go hiking. Those 2% of hunters stake their claim on the parks with the myth that they alone pay for conservation, which is absolute bunk. Thank goodness hunting is a dying "sport".
