A simple test of the claim that
Pleasure outweighs pain in this world is to compare the feelings of the animal that is devouring another animal
To those feelings of the animal that is being devoured.

sure, but I'd like to say, when man cannot find pleasure, he numbs himself with meaning. And this is no small deal when you realize many pursue meaning not for its sake but merely to escape the emptiness of pleasure. Meaning therefore, has sunk down to the level of those who seek it.

The only threat to this is lack of health (Ivan Illich explored this relationship). It could make you more interested in connecting with people, but there's nothing that they can do for you. If you can't call 000 when having a heart attack, what's the chances that your partner will in another room? My ideal life is living alone. Watching 5 films a night. Sleeping during the day. Making counselling calls (I'm a counsellor - and it's important to me). This may have something to do with it because I'm always connected to people, and I'd just like to be left alone when I'm done. My own realization is that the meaning to life is to create. To bring whatever you can, out of your own effort and ideas into existence. Whatever you create will always have a part of you in it. Because it came from you. We keep living because we keep creating and wanting to be better. The need to create a better life, a better idea, or just something new and never seen before.
Everything we know in our modern life was created by someone, and someone who thought they could do it better. What ever it is that you do, that you like to do, that you’re good at or you’d like to see yourself do, you will always feel the need to be better. This is what keeps us going.
To see the fruits of our labor gives us some of the deepest satisfaction and bliss one can experience - whatever it may be, tangible or not.
Those who have nothing to give, or think they have nothing to give or create, are ones who find themselves stuck in limbo. Without meaning.
Whether you create for yourself or others it doesn’t matter.
But we do find suffering and frustration in any hindrance to our creations - time, resources, knowledge, capability.
To be godlike, to have all the time, all the resources and capability at your disposal, with all the knowledge that could ever exist, what more is there to do than to take it all and create something out of it? To challenge yourself and see how far you can go? Is there a limit?

Because you will suffer anyways, horribly, and if you do not find something to learn from those experiences, something positive in which you can transform your suffering to, life would simply not be worth living.. it would be better to end one's life head on...
For example, suppose someone does a wrong to you, if you only blame him, without simpathy for that person's own pain, you would be in some way contributing to the wrongness of the world.. because people make other people suffer because of their pain, in order to aliviate suffering.. by causing more pain, and judging, we only help others to hate themselves, and to make them want to destroy life, and with that, to destroy us too..
In difference, imagine you try to help the other person learn, at their own pace, and forgiving him, that in some way would make the other person feel loved, and make them want to live life, and to love other people to, wanting to deviate from things that bring death and destruction

The 4 most meaningful things in life
    1. Having faith that the universe has a purpose.
    2. Loving family and friends
    3. Being grateful despite suffering
    4. Compassionate Ambitions
Reasons to have faith in God
    1. Ultimate Judge to aspire to. For leaders to humble themselves against. People are too flawed to be idolized.
    2. Gives purpose to the universe. Though a simplistic concept, it directly gives life and the universe a meaning. Without God, the universe is easily thought a fluke, thus rendering it meaningless. Especially important in times of suffering and death.
    3. Other things soon become your God. Pleasure becomes your God. Wealth. Power. Infinite pursuits of hedonism are placed as the highest priority. This is the advent of the antichrist and true virtue is tucked away underground.
    *Just my humble opinion

Modern humans are pressured to make our work and our jobs define meaning in our lives. When we lose our jobs we feel life no longer holds meaning and we suddenly serve no purpose because we've only known how to serve the corporate machine. Only the ultra wealthy have time and resources to figure things out. Ther figured out how to make us their ultimate goals. By conquring us their worker bees, they see their purpose towards eternal untouchable wealth and power.
Famous people commit suicide because there is even more pressure on them to succeed for those who control their talent and career moves. More pressure than most of us would ever bare.

I live close to a farm shop owned by a family that has owned the shop for 50+ years. In my lifetime I have seen most of the shop owners pass away each of his family members passing on the business and wisdom. The meaning of life is to try and live and give life and at the same time evolve because we humans are dumber than a box of frogs.

I haven't read Frankl, but the last quote seems to me very similar to Nietzsche's Eternal Return, if not in content, in the feeling it creates within you when you read about it.
I also feel like "What is the meaning of life?" is precisely a question that invokes the will to meaning, and as such, need not be answered.

    14:20 - 15:30 :
POSITIVE ADVICE FROM A PHILOSOPHY STUDENT:
CURRENTLY, we may have not found YET something of value to fulfil ultimately with meaning the hole of our existential emptiness, but that does not mean that we cannot ever find that, because we do not know what the future holds next for us, so be hopeful, keep existing, keep holding on, keep moving and looking forward to finding that, just like the existentialist philosophers, like Friedrich Nietzsche, that kept existing and holding on, because they were aware that they could still hope of finding meaning value to fulfil the emptiness of their existences, if they kept moving and looking forward.
SIDENOTE: I wrote that based on the dialectical thought of Hegel that history happens by constant alternated changes between opposites. In another words, for example, sometimes humans, both in our individual and collective trajectories, live meaningful existences, then, other times humans do not live meaningful existences, and that is a cycle of change that could be repeated forever, ironically since we are talking about changes (inconsistency) being eternal (consistent).
Existing to search for the meaning of your existence is, in itself, already a meaning to your existence. In another words, we exist to search for meaning for (our) existence, as if existence existed to understand itself.

Das ultimate meaning of life is to manifest our divinity because man is a good in ruin.
    Strange indeed;
But in das heart of every interbeing
There is a seed of buddhahood.
    He who speaks only das truth;
And nothing false is a Buddha.

It pushes me to do good things and act with kindness to others. Knowingly that everything is useless and one will cease to exist in the end, why not be good and act with kindness eventhou it's just a persona created to satisfy one ownself and bring meaning to this meaningless endeavour we so called life

The meaning of life is to define death, and vice versa.
Existence meaning, Universally, is for Consciousness (us) to perceive the concepts of Mind (duality/Ego).
That is what do and all we do; from moment to moment we perceive (reflect) the concepts of Mind, what is before us.

Still they go on living. Isn´t that strange? Or maybe they have found an answer at least for themselves but keep it private.

This question is actually not all that complicated, for the "PURPOSE" of life is simple, it is for the sake of EXPERIENCE! The Logos, God, Consciousness ITSELF, or what ever one calls IT; IT merely seeks to know ITSELF by way of EXPERIENCE. And that EXPERIENCE consists of an infinite sum of individual meanings for each individuated form of consciousness, all lying within one ultimate meaning in which all those infinite sum of meanings reside in, or help to make up. But at the end of the day, it's is ALL for the sake of EXPERIENCE, which is the one general unifying PRINCIPLE. While the methods by which EXPERIENCE occurs, are "MANY" the principal is one!
Principles are FEW. Methods are MANY...

Tedium is inherent in the world, at its intrinsic limits: the notes are only seven - or twelve -, the colours are only seven, the flavours only four, the parts of the speech only nine. … One can argue, calling into question the innumerable combinations, the nuances, but the substance does not change. In the end, what is boredom, if not repetition and wear and tear? Existence replicates itself without imagination, nature re-proposes its forms: children resemble fathers, grandparents, ancestors, faces recall other faces, a song recalls others, a novel evokes others, a film is a set of deja-vu ... The changes only confirm the uniformity of the whole.
Gray has got many shades, but they are all gray.

I just really feel led to share something with you...when people wake up in the morning and wonder what the meaning of life is, there is only one answer, we were created by a true living God who gave His Son Jesus to die for our sins and He rose again, returned to heaven and said He is coming back for us again one day. I am here to tell you that the "some day" is right around the corner according to the Bible, His return to come and get us is imminent according to prophecies that are right now being fulfilled, and it is up to each and every individual to accept Him and love Him for what He did for us and ask Him to take over our heart and remove the heart of stone and give us a new heart of flesh, if ANYONE does that in all sincerity they will be changed in an instant and suddenly they will know in their heart the true meaning of life and what we were put here for. I will be praying for you to find that. It is not too late right now, but soon it will be.
