Why do 10 people have to say this every video It's not even accurate... it could just as easily be going away... and some times they just dance in a field. Should you treat it like it's coming towards you? Yes, but that doesn't mean that it's likely coming at you. If the Tornado is to your South/Southwest then that's when it's likely heading towards you in that scenario
The segment with the guy in the trailer videoing the trailers around him getting trashed - that was the F4 1992 Fritch tornado, and it tore down my family's barn leaving all the horses alive and unscathed. Based on its path, it would have killed me at the age of 4 had my family moved out to the land 2 years earlier than we did.
1:24:18 I had flashbacks of when I was a kid growing up on the south side of Oklahoma City in the late 60s and early 70s of my mom going around the house opening windows when we were under tornado warnings. Not sure how that line of thinking originated, maybe an old wives tale, but back then it was thought that opening windows would equalize the pressure and keep your house from "exploding", when in reality it's the violent wind speed that obliterates the house. If you get hit, the tornado will open the windows for you. We still don't fully understand tornadoes and in many areas they still remain a mystery
One of the things that gets me when I watch the Handycam vids from the 90's is the audio...no compression, stereo microphone and sometimes directional microphone. Very high quality sound.

I know not what your unsolvable mystery would be. . .I see an angry God, who tries and tries to bring you back to the truth, many to no avail. . .I see a people, who were deceived into science when it has been God the entire time. . .To me, the mystery is how you do not understand. . . . . . .
I find it funny how far we have come to the understanding of tornados since then. Where it use to be a mystery how these storms formed and now it’s all solved. We know what types of cells creat them what the baro has to be temperature and how the jet stream has to be situated for permissible conditions. Plus now we understand the life cycle and process for forming. Gotta love nature even tho it’s has ruined many lives.
We still only know the conditions for a tornado. Scientists are absolutely mystified at how they form. And radar still cannot see a tornado. Meteorologists rely heavily on storm spotters. Science does not and cannot know everything.
We still have a long way to go because although we have determined how they form we cannot predict with accuracy exactly where and when they will strike. We throw out percentages as low as 2% because we cannot pinpoint place and time. Some think we can go no further but I disagree. Someday soon we will be able to predict with much higher accuracy.

This might sound a little strange but as beautiful as the music is during the Last Chance Tornado segment is, I sometimes find it sad to listen too but beautiful at the same time.
Sometimes there is a hopelessness about a certain kind of music, primarily from the late 1980s and early 90s. . . this low-budget ambient music which permeates many a tornado documentary of the era. . . It is like looking into a portal which shows tornadoes from the past set to tranquil but eerie soundscapes. . . ultimately it is indeed a futile abstraction and the mind subliminally knows this. My own personal dangerous place is a subterranean complex of emotion based upon these ingrained futilities of childhood. . . a sort of musical existential crisis. I chase tornadoes to this day, I am 29. God Bless.

I watch everything I can find on tornadoes and i know people get sucked up in them,and some survive. I Can't imagine the terror one would feel being sucked up jn the air.
Growing up, we were within a mile of several tornadoes but I actually saw my first one south of me off of the interstate driving home from college. It was scary but awesome, out in the field where it didn't do any damage other than the slightly larger than golf ball sized hail the storm threw at us.

This is the closest I've found for the May 3, 1999 tornado in Lawton, ok. There seem to be no videos on the Lawton, Oklahoma tornado on May 3, 1999. Anyone have video for that time??
There SHOULD be 2 types of ratings. The Fujita scale, and a wind scale. Case in point, the 2 mile wide El Reno tornado. If that had hit a city, it would have been an F10

I noticed that. I have the written guide that accompanies the extended edition of this film and it doesn't mention the tornado being anticyclonic. I'm thinking the video was mirrored or played in reverse. The tornado occurred near Kennard, IN on April 3, 1974.

That sucker occurred during the Super Outbreak and if there'd been an anticyclonic tornado anywhere in that mess, I believe Ted Fujita would've been on it like ugly on an ape. No anomaly got through his highly skilled fingers.
