    I love Fenix Flashlights!!! I have many many flashlights of all kinds of brands. I have had top brands like Surefire fail after a couple months of use. I have never ever had any of my 6 Fenix lights fail. I currently carry the Fenix PD35 TAC and I absolutely love it. I have had it for a while and I dont ever go anywhere without it. I was using it in -43°c with at 3500mAh battery and it just kept on running.

    I have been following flashlight channels for quite a while, but none of them was able to put together such an informative, logical and fact based summary on edc lights as you! Just ordered the Fenix PD36R based on your recommendation! Thank you so much!

    I have the PD35 and love it! I use it 5 days a week at work and the charge on it last so long! I had not charged my battery for 3-4 day uses, and lost it the other day. The next day I remembered where I left it. I found it STILL ON after 18 hours on the second setting. I still had plenty of charge and what just a little warm. Amazing!!

    i personally have five flashlights at the ready at all times. i keep two in my truck, one large one for road emergencies and one mini light for in the cab use. i have one in my toolbox at work. one is in my drawer by bed for emergencies such as tornado warnings and such. my last flashlight is a wowtac within reach from chair in my living room. i use that one for flooding my yard to see what my dogs are barking about. we get a lot of critters where i live. raccoons, possums, skunks, copperheads and coyotes. i absolutely need a good flashlight for seeing what is in my yard. great video charlie, thanks for shining a little light on the subject. :) note: i had the brand wrong for my flashlight - corrected.

    I cary a 5 pack of fully charged 18650s in my truck at all times. I ask Home depot for bad battery packs, which they always supply. Of the 5 to 10 cells within the packs, usually only one or two are bad, the others are often like new. So, I've got 25 or 30 good 18650s laying around. Not all flashlights will accept these batteries because they don't have the reduced tip, but you can buy that protector and heat shrink it to the battery.
    FYI: I once jump started my car with an 18V cordless drill battery. Now I have a dedicated jump starter.

The comparisons you give and what each flashlight can do is spoken in language even I can understand, I have problems with people who use jargon or talk too fast. You explain very well your choices giving good reasons and make sure that we know that we all have our own needs to fill and to check out what is available. What are your thoughts about your fenix pd36r now?
      1. The usb c cover on mine has since been ripped off. I still charge out of that port and the light still works after water submersions.
      2. Tail cap rubber cover is getting smooth.
      3. Anodizing is chipping a little here and there. 4% of the light.
      Otherwise 💯

    Agree with your daily use/carry match-up completely: Fenix PD36R (or Fenix E35 v3 for more flood) + Olight Baton 3. Pretty much covers all my daily use cases. Using a small light like the Baton 3 as a headlamp on your hat is one of the best ass-saving use cases for a light I can think of.

You really feel the extra heft of the copper too, a must own if you love Olights.

    I bought the E20 version 2 and the PD36R for the extremely long run times, and the E20 runs off two AAs! I believe they get such long times because their candela and lux are low. For example my 1000 lumen Streamlight Pro Tac HL-X has 27100 candela and a 330 meter beam and the PD36R at 1600 lumen has 19977 candela and a 283 meter beam. on its closest setting, 800 lumen it has 9636 candela and a 197 meter beam. This makes the Streamlight seem brighter and have more of a spot light, whereas the Fenix is more of a flood style light. Personally I prefer the long run times and don't need a flashlight to illuminate things at a 1000 feet, so I EDC the Fenix now and love it.

    • @FlashBro-r4w
      @FlashBro-r4w 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fenix pd36r is a “as is advertised light”. It doesn’t get the highest lumen output or candela rating, it just works.
      I dropped mine several times. The worst drop was when I was cruisin on my motorcycle at 60mph and the light came out my back pocket. I went back and grabbed it off the freeway and the damn thing just keeps working!
      Everyone complains about it not being tactical. I’ll challenge that and say JUST SET IT AND FORGET IT. You want 1600 lumens for almost 3hrs that does not STEP DOWN ? Go for that setting.
      You want 800 lumens that will run almost 6 hours long?! This light does what it says… takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
      Your USB C silicone cover gone? Yep so is mine. I still charge it, run it under water to clean the light and it’s still ALL water tight !
      I can’t say enough praises about this light Fenix set the bar even 3 years later.

    Had 2 Felix flashlights and loved them, sorry I don’t remember what models they are because my wife misplaced 1 of them and the second one came in handy after we were hit by a tornado and we lost power. We were helping out neighbors and my wife put the flashlight down on the front of the car near where she was and with all the commotion someone came and stole it. This is why I’m looking to see what’s out there these days. I had the Feni. Flashlights with Olight batteries and they lasted forever. I’d like to go handsfree in situations like the one we had so I’m looking for 2 additional handheld lights and 1 that can be both maybe or a dedicated headlight. I got Fenix PD36R and M2R for the same exact reasons. Although, I did not know that M2R was not that good for long time run. I bought it for the specs.
    I always prioritize run time over lumens etc. As for me - the best flashlight is the one that can run the longest on a single charge in it's class. I have not seen ANY flashlight that runs longer than PD36R.
    I also want to get LD30, but the only thing that stops me is the non-tail stand for that size of a flashlight.

    Great video, Charlie! Nice collection! With me, it's collecting flashlights, wrist watches and thermos'! (No counting countless guns and detectors. LOL) I also keep a hand crank generated light in my car at all times. Not a lot of brightness, but sufficient as an area light and never needs batteries and will always work when you need it. BTW, if you love headlamps, for my money, the Fenix HM65R is absolutely the best! Please check that one out! Thank you for a great review!

    The best, most versatile EDC flashlight by far ; UI, reliability, versatility, output, fit/finish, PRICE, is the Lumintop Tool AA/14500. Anybody who is willing to pay the outrageous prices for an Olight should just go n spend abt $25 for the Lumintop Tool AA/14500 (660 lumens). N instead of ANY warrior, check out the Sofarin SC31 PRO (18650) . The Sofarin SC31 PRO blows away the warrior series. The customizability is unparalleled, much better UI than olight AND much less HEAT. The Fenix exposed tail cap, n less common battery are a deal breaker for Me. I'll keep my Klarus XT11GT (18650) as my duty light. I have true love for that flashlight, lol. The Klarus XT11GT n the Lumintop Tool AA/14500 have gotten me through 7 extended, complete power outages w no issues. Thats one if the best tests for a flashlight. Im sharing this info cuz there are great flashlights out there that check off all the things you want in your light w/o paying a bunch of $ simply for a huge name, then not really getting all that you want . When Fenix fixes the exposed tail cap design AND becomes more affordable, I will be one of the first to buy one. Your review makes me really like that flashlight. I like your review style. Glad your channel came up on my feed. Stay safe, Be Blessed.

      I HAD (past tense) a Klarus 11GT. Had it 3 months before dropping it on the ground accidentally and the light flickered then went off. Tried as I might, I could NOT get that light to work again.
      I lost respect for Klarus after that. I bought my first Fenix light, PD36R 3 years ago. The damn thing keeps going.
      I’ve dropped it 5 times on concrete
      I’ve ridden on my motorcycle with it in my back pocket at 65 mph on the highway…. Damn thing came out my back pocket (I will never carry it there again!!!) STILL WORKS.
      exterior USB-C charge port cover got ripped off. The whole USB C port area is totally exposed. Still works and in FACT I wash it off weekly. DAMN LIGHT still works!
      CONCLUSION: you can buy what you want to but I stand by fenixes products based off my experience with the Fenix PD36R.
      It is a STOUT light and lasts forever in 1 charge. It is my first and LAST light I will use from now on 💯

    Great review of your lights. I have the PD36R as well. Like it a lot, but the sudeswitch could be a little more pronounced and more pronounced, since it csn be hard to locate with gloves. But otherwise, a great light

    Very helpful and honest reviews. I was looking for long run flashlight for trekking for 10days and there no electricity apart from my solar battery pack. I never had fenix brand before. I got only Olight s1r baton ii and it’s awesome little to go on my pockets. Now I need one bigger like pd36R for runtime. I’m still thinking to choose between PD36R and Olight Freyr since M2R pro is not going to last battery like you mention in video. Could you help me to do another review for Freyr and compare the battery runtime with PD36R or other exactly similar brand and range.
    Many thanks again.

    im thinking about buying Fenix TK16 V2.0 or Fenix PD36R (im going to hike in Austria)

    • @FlashBro-r4w
      @FlashBro-r4w 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buy the Fenix pd36r. It will last the the longest. Just compare the runtime charts to each other.
      That 1,600 lumens is enough trust me. I have both and the TK16 v2 runs out of battery much faster if you dick around with high or turbo mode.
      The Fenix pd36r is a more efficiently balanced light.

    So the Fenix doesn’t overheat at all? Not even warm? I bought an ace beam 35 gen 2 and it gets pretty warm on the high beam

  • @aggaviriyo790

    I wonder when they'll update it. They should figure out a way to make a rugged and more durable flap if they wanna keep that usb charging on the flashlight

    • @FlashBro-r4w
      @FlashBro-r4w 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works (water sealed) without rubber silicone cover present. I even wash my pd36r without it and haven’t had any problems. Hell I bet I could crunch the usb c port tab and I could still charge the included 21700 5000mah battery on my home charger.

    Thanks for the review. Battery life, brightness and not overheating are key selling points for me. Could be a little brighter because I camp and hike a lot. Do you have any suggestions for a flashlight similar to this one but 3,000 plus lumens?

    • @dakotajacobson4250
      @dakotajacobson4250 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pd35 tac is 3,000 lumens.

    • @FlashBro-r4w
      @FlashBro-r4w 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Overall You’ll get shorter runtimes the more lumens the light outputs. That IS why the Fenix PD36R is the middle ground performer but outputting the longest USABLE runtimes.
      Recently I bought the new acclaimed Fenix TK16 V2 at 3,100 lumens and don’t get me wrong… that light beam @t 3K lumens is impressive! BUT… it drains the livin snot out of the 21700 5,000mah battery too fast. It’s better than a maxed out 3,500mah 18660 but it still stands to reason that higher lumen output is not near as efficient as the lower lumen output PD36R.
      I carry this light everywhere with me. It is balanced for high output without sacrificing longer runtimes. ⚖️💯🔑👏🏼

    Awesome video, I love your stuff! I was going to mention the Warrior Mini because I bet it could replace the I2R and M2R except it’s not as warm of a white. The size is also right on the border of being too big for EDC for me, I wish they had a deep carry pocket clip. There are some things I would change about the UI, but the size, interface, and moonlight mode makes the Warrior Mini rise above the LD30 for my EDC. I love my PD25 too though!

    I agree on the battery life! I've got three Fenix pocket size lights, and by far the PD36R is my regular carry. I've had it for three years and have charged it three times! Now I don't use it everyday, but it's always ready to go. Was saving to get the TK76R which seems to be discontinued now - HELLO LR50R!

    What would be a nice belt case for the pd36r? Preferably leather and one you can close with a snap. I know as good a flashlight the pd36r is, the case it comes with is pretty poorly designed.
