In writing, there's something called "character" This is typically a person, who is represented as having a certain set of attributes, preferences, etc. Example: A person who hates wearing red, wouldn't wear red - willingly. As such: A 15th century womanizer, wouldn't take it up the !@# - willingly. Don't let people lie to you... They could have added a character like this, or they could have retconned someone other than the womanizer, so it wouldn't be so jarring. They _chose to do this_ *for a reason.*
