The tracks appear to be plastic(?) with some basic molded in detail, but not rubber bands, which was more advanced than tracks produced by many other model mfg's at the time, & for several years afterward. I imagine the cost of the plastic track design & tooling was somewhat higher than for rubber band type tracks.
They are metal. It's a strange track design but they are metal. I'm fairly sure they were originally put on the 1/40 excavators and that's why they look the way they do.

Wow I've never seen that model and as always awesome man is that the super dozer siries?or was that just the 575a?
Thanks for watching! The 575a is the Super Dozer. The 475's are a D11 equivalent. The 575s are surprisingly quite a bit bigger than the 475 is.
