That would make a pretty awesome conversion. It'd probably move some dirt well from it being so heavy. You might have to reinforce the track pins a little bit.
The fragile tracks you mention is zinc rot. How is your model doing now? How do the tracks look? I have just bought one and am dreading opening up the box and checking the tracks!
@@Dyna78 I would think Ertl wouldn't be able to help as it's an older model now. I have fitted Bruder CAT dozer tracks onto one of mine and they fit well. They are triple grouser but you could shave off two per pad to give a more realistic look.
@@bobbynobrain Thanks for the info, and that's about what I thought. I've also considered using Bruder tracks (on other 1/16 vehicles) so may give that a try. I have also noticed some RC machines are offered with metal tracks, not sure if they'd be the right size or not though.
@@Dyna78 It would be a matter of cost for me. You can buy the small CAT dozer here in the UK for 23 quid, or look for a second hand one on Ebay for less. The decals peel off easily and I used them on a 1:50 CAT 994 wheel loader custom, and they fit perfectly! www.flickr.com/photos/59927726@N06/41459678225/in/photolist-2dpSkgm-26K3YWz-26aDFUn-hBP7uN-cNz82U-aCYdYq-avHKEu
Ertl also made a highspeed dozer, 850k 1050k, 850d i believe, and they made a 544k millitary edition, as well as a millitary 850g i believe. Ertl hasn't made as many as I'd like either like I want to see a 130 excavator or even a 75g to be able to have for the dio.
Maryland Construction Diecast now I just need the loader. If I’m not mistaken, there are only 3 models in the series correct? Backhoe, bulldozer and the loader?
@@Dan67518 Sort of. There is a 650H and a 650J Dozer. The J has a ripper but its largely the same as the H. There are also 3 versions of the Case Backhoe but the only difference is paint. Barring the minor differences there are 3 basic models.
Great review your wife does a great job! You should put her in more videos!
Thanks! That is probably going to happen. She had fun making this one.
Well it is great that she had fun!
Great looking dozer I am looking to do a rc conversion on one...But I couldnt stop looking at those fingernails lol

That would be cool. Could you do a how to video.when you do it? I would love to do one myself.
Interesting your cab is more detailed!
Ohhhh the rarer one lol I got the grey cab this one is like insane.
That is interesting.

I have been really lucky so far. Both of mine have held up well considering the enormous numbers of ones with issues.
Would anyone happen to know if Ertl offers replacement parts (tracks) for these? I have been looking, but have not found a source yet.

A 75 would be nice. I always wanted a 160. A 450 dozer would be awesome too.

Maryland Construction Diecast how much did this cost
