In resolve 18 this presets tab on the left side is gone. There's now a 3 dots menu on the top right side of the project settings menu. You'll find all the options to save, import, create presets there.

Hi AJ, sorry for the delayed response - I've been out for the past week. I would strongly suggest to try using proxies at 1080p if you're having playback issues. Use ProRes Proxy or DNX HR LB if on windows. I think this should resolve those playback issues. You are right though - a blue bar "should" playback fine once its cached - but 4k is tough on ANY computer.
Hi, this is something I would love to know too. I don't there is though. I will typically take a couple screenshots and re-enter the info I like to start with.
Chadwick, when setting up locations to save cache & render files, is it advisable to create individual folders for each, every time you create a new project so the render and cache files are isolated to each project? Or is it better to put all render & cache files in two folders for every project so everything is together? I would think isolating them with each project would make it easier to clean later on, but as I'm new to DaVinci Resolve, there is likely a way to clean these items later. What do you suggest? Thanks!

Very important info. Thanks! But when I switch to a different database and I create a new project nothing matches the User Default Config we just saved. Is this correct and is there a workaround? Thanks
Ahh, You have run into one of the catches to using multiple databases. I believe this information is stored within the database so it would need to be re-created again in the new one.
@@CreativeVideoTips Thank you! I watched several videos from various DR youtubers and none of them mentioned this point. I only discovered it on an obscure blog page. Seems like a rather important thing to understand about settings and databases. Very good reason to not use multiple databases I guess.
So this was the project management part but I am actually missing where you save your video clips, assets, music amd SFX... AND most important what happens right before export and finishing the project. Do you keep your voice overs in that CAPTURE folder or do you copy Paste & Relink them? Thanks for any advice! Also to free up space on the drive an archive it I would love to hear your opitnion. I actually like (and i hate to say this) premiere pro way to organize everything just in a project folder...
Hi, Chadwick, 0:40 you mention changing the resolution to 4K before export. Do you mean the time line settings in project settings from 1080 to 2160, or from 1080 to 2160 on the Delivery page. I've been using the latter and noticed a poor quality in my MP4 file. Thanks. 😊
Good question - man I wish I was more clear in the video, my bad. Yes it's the project settings where it matters to get the best quality. You still will do this in the deliver or quick export, but changing this back in the project settings is the way to do it.
@@CreativeVideoTips Thank you. Oh, I've just thought of something. If you were to add a title while the timeline is 1080p and change it to 2160p before rendering, won't the title shift halfway up the screen in the exported .mov/.mp4 file?
@@StephenEsseenyne nope - with it's defaults - Resolve will scale and keep the titles exactly in the same spot and relative scale. It's pretty smart :)

All my videos are 3D gaming videos. There is very little instruction on how to edit video which was created through OBS. Settings etc. for working with 3D would be handy.
This is really helpful Chadwick,
Is there a way to make changes to a preset and"re save" it as the same name ?
I currently delete a preset and create a new one in order to keep the same name i want. Now with your suggested proxy settings, i want to change all my presets i previously made.
Thank you for what you do 💪
Thank for t
You're welcome - it should be as simple as making the change - then going back to the presets tab and hitting "save" with that preset selected
@@CreativeVideoTips thank you, i will try tonight👍
@@CreativeVideoTips Worked perfectly, I had been trying to save the preset name like a notepad file. Thank you for the help Chadwick !
@@RVKevin love it - glad that fixed it
Is this usefull if i just import pictures (logos) i made in GIMP?
Absolutely. If they are in sequence with the same name or number you might find this video useful too - th-cam.com/video/J8GwXWg4FEA/w-d-xo.html
Can you explain the reason for 23.976 instead of 24. I shoot my videos in 25p and 50p. What should my timeline setting be.
hello
regards proxy files, is it matter if i dont shot with proxy ? and i don't have ProRes because i am on a pc , what is the alternative ?
DnxHR LB is a great option for windows.
Hi dude, tnx for this tips
Any time
Very important info.
Also
to free up space on the drive an archive it I would love to hear your opitnion. I actually like (and i hate to say this) premiere pro way to organize everything just in a project folder...
By the way thanks for the great tut and efford you pit into videos ! 😊
@@CreativeVideoTips You're the go-to guy, Chadwick 😊 Thanks again.
Hey there, you should add the “thanks” button
Great tip. I’m in the process of converting my VHS tapes to digital. The VHS captured files are 720x480i at 29.97 FPS and I was wondering what should I set the project at? Should I Deinterlace or check the neuro engine. I’m lost, please help.
@1:48 what is proxy generation location?
only a year later since you posted this and the presets tab under settings doesn't seem to exist anymore. This is a weirdly hard thing to google and get relevant results for too...
