My grandfather is the most stereotypical Italian man you’ll ever meet. He’s from Italy, moved to Chicago back in the 50s and opened up a successful suit shop. He’s got the most ridiculous Italian accent that my dad always mimicked and it was hysterical…he would take us to Lou Malnatis every damn time we went to his house, it was hands down his favorite place to grab a slice. Those trips are what made me into the pizza lover I am today.

I use to work for them. They will scoure the earth to get the best fresh ingredients. They will even ship water from Chicago to Phoenix for the pizza dough. For me if you like deep dish pizza, this is the best.

Born and raised in the northwest burbs of Chicago. Lou Malnati’s is god tier pizza. Moved to New England and have told every living person I have met out there about it’s greatness. Obviously they think I’m clinically insane when I try and describe the sauce/crust to them, but I don’t care. If I end up on death row, my final meal will be a butter crust cheese pizza from them, deep dish of course.
I’m from california and used to go here when I’d visit family. It’s equally iconic to me. Its just that good.

Had Lous and Gino's frozen. Lous is better. But I doubt the frozen does the fresh in person justice. I've made my own Butter crust deep dish and love it tremendously. And I am from New England. I may order Lous dough. Where u at in New England

To be fair, those Chicago pizza boxes are different than in NYC, or most of the midwest. The tabs at the front are what messes people up. A NY pizza box just opens up, suitcase style.

Best pizza I have ever eaten! The sauce is so different and like a stew of thick tomatoes. Totally a 9.6 you’re not eating it right. Give it 20mins and it doesn’t fall apart.
They don't use sauce, it's just a hand picked crop of tomatoes that gets stewed and lightly salted, topped with some parmesan. It's a fresh taste without paste and cheap dried seasonings like everyone else uses. But that's why this is messy if it's just out of the oven and you're holding it in the air and talking.

As a former Chicagoan, I was never keen on deep dish pizza BUT...if I had to have one, Lou Malnati's would be my choice. Giordano's tends to be more doughy in the middle. I really prefer a super-thin artisan pizza with light sauce where you can savor the individual toppings - something more like Maxwell's.

I order montly from goldbelly and it is delicious BUT getting it fresh at one of the restaurants is 100x better. Hope you make it there! My wife loves NYC style best but I love Chicago deep dish we travel according to what we wanna eat 😂😂
