Joseph Calleja O soave fanciulla

The final of "Die schönsten Opern aller Zeiten" (The most beautiful opera of all times), were the public have voted for their favourite opera, for several months.
3Sat and ZDFtheater broadcasts on Saturday 9 January 2010 and Sunday 10 January 2010.

I'm sorry to neglect the charming and beautiful soprano but when Joseph Calleja sings, I hear only his exquisite voice. At 31, he will only become more magnificent. What joy he brings.

To me, Joseph sounds very much like Jussi but maybe not as free up the top. He is going to be the best tenor in the world someday. Grateful to hear this masterpiece sung by these two great artists.

I'd have preferred the written ending. Calleja's high C doesn't have that stunning beauty that could make it worth going for it. That said, Calleja is the best tenor of our day and is only getting better. If only he had infallible intonation.
