"The way that you spend your days is the way you spend your life" never gets old and always hits me really hard. When I first heard it , it changed the way I think, I appreciate more people/things in life, and I try to choose my battles wisely. Also, it's not bad to work hard but don't lose yourself. Thank you for making this video, Tina! It touches so many people.
I read Mastery and So Good They Can't Ignore You too in search of finding my "passion." It's nice to know that I wasn't the only person who left confused after reading.
Spot on video! Especially in these days that there’s pressure from everywhere to find your “passion” and your “life goal”. I think it doesn’t come so naturally to 99% of people and most get disappointed when they compare themselves to the very few that they seem to know where their life is going. So totally agree with your points that instead of finding your passion, fix your habits/systems, try out different projects and reflect on how that is going for you to connect your dots. You’re a gem!
I can add one more thing to the list: The meaning of life is to serve others... To touch other people's lives and make a difference. There is incredible satisfaction and also good motivation to live a meaningful life.
Didn't know how much I needed this video until I found myself scrambling for a post-it to take notes on! It really resonated with me how you said the higher your baseline gets, things have a less negative impact on you and the more accessible success becomes. I'd like to add to the list that an indicator of a successful life is also having good relationships with others, being surrounded by loved ones and community. Thanks Tina, love all your content!
I truly admire your maturity, your focus and your commitment to growth. I'm further along in life than you are, and I'm still striving to be more like you.
That point about systems really put things into perspective Tina, building a habit is hard but once it becomes a habit - it will be there for you for longg long time
Mastery change my life forever, I was seventeen when I discovered this book, and every page I read on that book make me click with the way I saw the world. now I think a bit differently but I still like that book. thanks for the last minute of your video was motivating for me.
Omg! This is a life long mission for me...to figure out what I want in life.... I think I'll die before that day comes. I just love so many things from so many different career paths that I feel frustrated. I feel I want to do this today.....then something else the next day. Why does this happen !! Huh ! A quest for life really ! Love your videos Tina !!! Congo on your new apartment :)
"Live every day until the day that you die." Pilots have a saying like that: "fly it into the ground." That means that until you're solidly on the ground, you need to be flying the airplane. Whether 1 inch or 1 mile above the ground, no matter if you're crashing or lending, you need to be flying the plane, no matter what. They instill that maxim into pilots to the point that quite a few fighter pilots have flown a doomed plane right into the ground, even though they had a perfectly good chance to eject a mile higher. Well, in the modern day, not so much, but it's still true to a degree.
Love all the quotes, but the last about systems is one that I've been focusing a lot on in general in my life. I'm also reading The Compound Effect which talks about the outcomes of habits (i.e. said systems), so it's very much in my conscious thoughts.
OMG this video is amazing!!! I was just think about making a video voicing feeling lost/ behind in 20's yesterday, and this video of positive light came along!!! Thank you!!!
This is a tremendous video where you mentioned fiction books you are reading. Regarding the philosophy to learn a minimal to start - actually I share it, learn only what I can use right now. I always argue with a friend who reads tons of books before start doing something. It is fun because when I tell - it is nice, but one problem bothers me... he answered - if you read the book then you could know... but again, sure it nice, so what happens next? he answers - I didn't read about that yet :)
I learned by watching hundreds of TH-cam videos & all the different industries & jobs in the market. Then after almost dieing & writing a book. Then I learned what was best for me based off my mindset. I like to build stuff and I enjoy playing with technology. But I'm also super creative. So I learned that I want to be a Software Engineer for the technical stuff, illustrator for my creativity & imagination, & Traveler for adventure. So I dont become like a coding monkey and force myself to go outside. A good example is the Chinese artist WLOP. But also travel & show my adventures as TH-camr. I believe I can do all these things at the same time. 😄
I like how these quotes and principles also apply to my recently finding out there are atheist branches of paganism. Where you apply meaning through rituals and practices of paganism, yet not necessarily believe in magic or deities or stuff like that. That you realize that the effects these rituals give are real and genuine experiences, but not created by an outside force. Naturalistic Paganism, as it's called, is heavily rooted in learning more about the world (think of learning astronomy, physics, biology etc), and CREATING rituals that are meaningful to you specifically so you feel more connected with this planet/universe... Not here to convert you of course, but just making an observation of my own path and how these quotes can apply to my own life and how compatible they are! And I love that "being creative (output) by applying things you learn (input)" is applicable in a similar way. I'm still figuring things out for myself too, but I've always had a connection with paganism, but not believing in gods or magic made me hesitant to research further. The second quote hit me, as it just verified that I wanted to know more about this universe and feel this connection and being a better person and trying to better myself, but also the world around me (in what capacity I can) and indeed living more intentionally! =D
Idk why this video hit differently but it was really good ! Loved all three quotes especially the 2nd one, now I'm gonna start thinking about these while slacking off :( lol .. Glad to see you again Tina
I found Cal Newport’s to be the most helpful book I’ve read so far to help me think about work and career so far! I think your example about starting your TH-cam channel was a great example of what Cal talks about in the book with career capital! It sounds a lot like what you’ve done now!
thank you for sharing this, Tina! Your words have really let me reflect on what it means to live a life consistently rather than by "fire". :) "Be determined to make each day intentional and meaningful."
I was literally thinking about what my life of success would be. Would I have a family and enjoy what I do everyday. But what bothered me was thinking of how often I laugh when I’m very sad and what if my whole life becomes something like that. A big fake smile. Then I saw this and it made me feel better, appreciate the video 😁
Great video Tina. I think it is good advice to be mindful of how one is feeling both physically and mentally. It's ok to take breaks and it is ok to fail. "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." - Vince Lombardi.
Tina, It's great to hear about how you're evaluating your passion and your calling. Also some great quotes and book recommendations here. I've started to read Mastery by Robert Greene. Thanks for the suggestion, the one from Cal Newport "So Good They Can't Ignore You" seems like another good one for the reading list.
Been following fir a while, one of the best channel I've been Tina, personal growth, accountability, SWE, and the fun 🌝. can you send some of your old books, please 🙏?? Shipping to Nigeria 🇳🇬
What I hate about “Be so good they can’t ignore you” the book by Cal Newport is that they took my favorite quote BY STEVE Martin, I honestly want to get it tattooed on me and made it about something different. I love Steve Martin and basically, he found a PASSION and ran with it. He pursued it and his point being don’t worry about finding. An agent or details, be good at what you do and people will come to you. But Cal Newport kind of totally missed the part where Martin says comedy does not come natural to him and he overcame this with practice. I think the books author tries to acknowledge this but misses the point that the reason why all of this works is because this is something you chose and believe is a passion. You aren’t toiling away for a career which does not fulfill you.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for this great video with all its respectable insights. However, I would like to grasp your attention to what is the purpose and duty of every single human being within the limited time we have in this life. If you figured out what is that and made your passion to fulfill this duty, therefore your life will be meaningful regardless of what you do or what system aka habits you follow. Because it's true we can form and manage our life to a certain extent but sometimes life circumstances are bigger than us to control. looking for meaning and purpose in life rather than just living life is what makes us human beings.
Hey Tina, Thanks a lot for this video. It's really great and I watched full video @12.27AM Emily it's was good to hear about her but when u mentioned she is dead it was a sad moment. I have multiple goals like career I need change or I should get into other job via exam I'm confused how to devote my time or stay focused. If I chase one then another thought will drag me.
Hi Tina I follow you on Discord :D I think the purpose of life is to add value. Value of information/insights can vary from thousands of dollars to billions. I think we as people in technical and stem educated backgrounds forget to touch our creative side. This is what the arts are for, this is why I don't think the arts are useless like so many think so. Expression, Poetry,Art,Music,Beauty,Love, Imagination, Wondering...this is what life is about.
thank you so so much for sharing this! you're such an inspiration xx. do you have any plan to make a video bout your mbti (16personalities) results?! I've been obsessed with the test lol. appreciate you again for this video & motivations!!! :))

you dont need to figure out what to do with your life, just exist, you'll be fine

Meaning is a byproduct of communication. The only way for your life to mean something is for you to try say something with it.
