What a great video. Back in the early 60's I worked on a large egg producing farm. The owner would let a couple of us shoot rats in the granary. It would always be night when we went and we used .22 rim fires with bird shot. The owner gave us a bonus of a nickle a tail for the rats. They would show up in the light from our headlamps just as your rats did at the plant. We would sometimes make $20 each.
These guys take there rat hunting seriously, night vision, big ass scopes, and air rifles that look like they cost more than a sniper rifle, got to love our limey cousins.
Hawksquawks don't sweat it man. not all of us are assholes.you shoot what you got and you're glad you got it and you try and hit what you aim at, right?Take care, from Florida USA
I guess so. Those air rifles ain't nickel & pennies. OTOH everybody ends up shooting with what each could afford. But yeah, they put rat hunting way above a simple hobby.
@ Herbert, time was your people were (equally wrongly) considered no better. be careful what you wish for. rats serve their own purpose, just as we do.
I have 3 rats as a pets and they are sensitive social animals, I love them too much and I just Can't understand why you hate little criiatures who doesnt make another thing just trying to survive..

Your ballistics test on the 177, 20, and 22 was very informative. It did tend to dispel what I had suspected about gun writers comments on the much maligned 20 cal.
Loving all these "You should use a proper gun!" comments. I bet half of you have never actually gone hunting/shooting in your life. When it comes to shooting in enclosed areas the air rifle is actually far superior to an actual firearm in many ways. 1, Air rifles require far less of a backstop (Although they are still required) 2, It is much MUCH safer shooting at quarry that may be up trees as if you miss that pellet won't be travelling far before it hits the ground (Although you still have to be careful) With a firearm that bullet can travel for miles before it starts coming down. 3, Even at 12ftlb (UK legal limit) an air rifle still has the power to dispatch a rabbit up to 65+ yards away. 4, Although some Air rifles can cost more than there powder burning cousins the cost of pellets is far less than that of a 22 rimfire or .177. 5, Air rifles with silencers fitted are far quieter than a powder burner. Air rifles are considered toys to everyone who hasn't used one. But lets see you get the amounts of rats these fella's just did with your 7.62..
Daniel Willett We appreciate. your smugness and the air gun lesson. But like you said they are toys to those who've not shot them so you are telling the rest of us what we already know, but in your arrogance didn't consider. You won't stop the uninitiated or asses with your lesson. Thanks anyway.ps I will and have done that with my Kalashnikov 7.62,.30 carbine,.223 and more but the pellets bring me back cause it more of a challenge and sport.Have YOU shot a 7.62?
