Just starting the beginning of the warm water season here on the Eastern Shore of MD. I won’t be able to travel this year in all likelihood. The white marabou muddler was always one of my go toos back in the day when fishing eastern trout and especially smallmouth on the lower Delaware. That cone head yellow should crush pickerel and largemouth here. Thanks again for being so entertaining and instructional and reminding me what tying is about. Stay safe.
Thanks kelly for all you do. Definitely a great time to get some tying done. Govt just banned recreational fishing in my state due to the boogievirus. They can take my rod from my cold, wet, dead, fishy hands!
This pattern was one of my favorites as well back in the day. Might have to reintroduce a few of these back to my rotation this year. Hope you guys are doing well.
In the Appalachians where I normally fish instead of sculpin we have a abundance of creek chubs with orange fins an olive lateral line and white or silver belly or back would it hurt the action of the maribu to use 2 different color maribu like white or silver bottom and then put the peacock in between like a lateral line and then orange on top ?
Your good looking flies get used. So true. I pitch hundreds of flies every year that I tied but never made the cut on the river cause they just didn't look nice enough.
Kelly Good thing you bring us back to old school flies! Thx Quick question: what are your thoughts on tying this on a jig hook with weighted body instead of a cone? I found the cone heads to cause that fast dive motion that looks a bit unnatural but again this might be why this is a good fly. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.
So how is the social distancing in Montana? It looks like it's finally getting warm out there. I was just wondering if you kept the head loose would it act as a rattle? Inquiring mInds want to know.
Spinning around cone head is a super hot technique! Thanks for sharing this experience with us!!

why ban recreational fishing?!?! i mean every one stands a good ( minimum) 20 feet away if they are respectful fishermen.
Thanks for keeping old flies. Do you think the red tails were the unknown at that time “Hot Spots”?
Incredible knowledge base. As always, thanks for sharing. Bravo Zulu

I would not hesitate to do that at all! It shouldn't play with the action at all... who knows it may make the fly fish even better!!!
