Thankfully at age 72, I am still able to grow my own garden, here on the Cumberland plateau in central Tennessee. I prefer to grow most of my root crops in the fall so that they mature right around the time of a frost that will kill off the tops of the plants. When that happens, I put a thick layer of mulch over the crops, to keep the ground from freezing, which also forces the root vegetables to turn their starches into sugar. I will harvest as needed throughout the winter months and the following spring, will harvest and preserve the remainder of the crops. I will leave a few of each crop to resprout and grow to maturity and go to seed, so I will have seeds for growing again in the fall. I'm a firm believer in working smarter, not harder.

You are right. Our government is deliberately contaminating our food, water, and air. Big Pharma gets mega rich off of sick people. Fluoride in water, chemtrails dumping tons of toxins in the air. Our government wants us to be in constant worry and distress. Our country leads the world in childhood vaccines, which weaken our resistance to every bug or disease.
61, disabled, and yet I manage to grow as much much food as I can. I just harvested the first batch of Pak Choi and Swiss Chard on Sunday and Monday. It's raining, or I'd be harvesting a bunch of Komatsuna today. Also ready to pick are Tatsoi and Yellow Heart Winter Choy. My red cabbage and Napa Cabbage are forming heads, and the broccoli and cauliflower are about to start flowering. Also growing are parsnips, carrots, beets, and turnips. I've already planned out my winter garden, and either have the seeds on hand, or they are on the way. Seed starts begin in January, with cold hardy plants in the ground in February (15 raised beds). Hello Mrs. H. You are so right about our food in this country. I peeled a store bought cucumber yesterday. When I bit into it my mouth and throat started burning. The cucumber tasted sour like a lemon. I should have known something was wrong when they lasted too long. I also experienced the fake watermelon last week. Everyone just need to grow our own food. Blessings to you and your family. Thank you for always sharing important things with us!🙏🏽❤️💛💚🫂
Agreed. I grew up in a subdivision, on a fairly small lot. Dad used the south side beside the house and planted his beautiful gardens. He did a lot of interplanting for higher yields. I raised 2 bunnies and their manure was used to help make great garden soil. Dad planted peas along the sides of the house and we had beautiful flowerings beans growing up the side rail on the front of the house. It was quite decorative. Dad did a lot of foraging of fruit and berry plants, growing outside of people’s properties and on abandon lots. He forages black walnuts, fiddle heads, huckle berries and morel mushrooms. Mom froze, dried and canned our goodies and we always had a lot of food in our home.

Those carrots came from Arvin and Bakersfield California. It was a 40 year family owned business until Dec, 2020. They were purchased by Teays River Investments; a private Global equity firm located in Zionsville, Indiana. Unfortunately, they grow organic also which were allegedly the culprits of the contamination. Teays River and Bolthouse produce 80% of the fresh carrot market in the US. Bolthouse Farms is also headquartered in Bakersfield by an equity company located in Beverly Hills, CA. Do your own research because these Big Ag companies started to get tangled when trying to research who is at the top.
I received an email from Walmart about the recall and had to throw out the carrots. I also called my friend to throw out the vegetable soup I cooked for her because I used those same carrots in it; 6 quarts worth. Needless to say, I am growing carrots in my garden next season.
