    I find these to be incredibly interesting because the company is marching to the beat of its own drummer rather than following trends.

      Not really given the trend of at least last decade are diver watches, this is a diver's watch or at least this is what they are trying to present.

    • @mariuszsch.79
      @mariuszsch.79 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      They are producing these diver's watches since 1967. Also as a diver's watch these are rock solid. There are pressure tests on yt showing the Amphibias fail around 800 meters. I'm pretty sure this komandirskie could also go to at least 200.

They are obiously in the dark about the K-35 automatic hand winding stainless steel tanks l started of with one l order thru Amazon within 6 weeks l somewhere managed to aquire 5 l don’t how it happened but there they are on display along with my vintage g shocks don’t think lve ever seen more beatiful dials anywhere totally original and that’s what they are - Russian g shocks which will easily outlive a g shock!!!-. The wobbling in the crown is a part of the engineering design that aids in its shock resistance, which for the price point is also unbelievably good. Love Vostok!!

      I bought one out of curiosity about 2 years ago... these unique watches won my heart, now I own 9 of them!!! Amphibia are the most interesting, but komandirskie are amazing as well. Now I am looking to buy a Sturmanskie, but they are really expensive, they go around 500-600 EUR, the limited edition ones... ❤

    Thanks so much Peter! It's honestly such a real joy to see someone discovering Vostok watches for the first time and really appreciating all of their amazing, but quirky qualities! I too fell in love with them a few years ago and now have about a dozen Komandirskies, Amphibias, etc. Btw, they have been known to still be keeping good time after 20-30 years, without a service. Also, they are super easy to regulate if you aren't lucky enough to get one as accurate as yours, as all of mine are now between +4 to +6 sec. Scratches buff out easily on the acrylic crystal with toothpaste or poly watch. Even without conventional hacking, you can use the "poor man's hack" by applying a slight back pressure on the crown in the out position. Even without a quick-set date on models with a date function, you can make it easier by simply rolling the hour hand back & forth between the 8 & 12 position. Of course after collecting a few more, you may also enjoy modding your Vostoks, as it's easy, fun, and inexpensive thing to do, that is modding your Vostoks, change bezels, straps, crowns, dials, hands, etc. for a totally different and unique look. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Vostok!

    Peter, one tip when using the Timegrapher on these is, lift angle is 42 degrees. You may get false amplitude readings using the default 52 degrees. And I keep the bracelets, they make useful sharp-edged weapons. Apart from that, this may just be my third Vostok. Thanks for the vid, and hiya from Queensland.

    This was a fun review to watch! Vostok make some pretty neat watches, particularly concerning the history, the design, and the prices. One of the fun things about the review, is watching you experience things that Vostok owners know all about, such as the shock-insulated crown and the 1950s style, bi-directional bezels. I really suggest you have some fun by reading up on the Vostok Amphibia watches which is what that particular one you got really sort of is, rather than a traditional Komandirskie.

    I'm wearing my vostok Komandirskie model # 431241and I love it. It has the (2414A) 17 Jewel in house movement that is hand whined only. The case is a 40mm that feels more like a 36mm, lug to lug is about 46mm, and the thickness is 12mm . Straps are 18 mm. I wear it on a thin NATO or a rubber strap. I like this watch because it is so comfortable to wear, and it looks good too.😀 Thank you for the great review of yours. Cheers

    I bought two Vostoks an amphibia and a Koma. I like the watches but in the endearing way I remember my first cars 20 years ago...They are a bit rough to suit my current daylife (I am in a business suit most of the time) and a bit bulky/heavy under the shirt cuff. However they are nice to wear on off days and holiday. You don't have to worry about your safety due to your watch.

      👌You have good taste! I was browsing through all the various Komandirskie models this weekend, and the 350515 and 18020A caught my eye. Will be getting both soon. 🙂 The one reviewed in this video (K-350504) is very similar to the 350515, but I personally prefer a central second hand, and I also don't like how, in the model showcased here (350504), the numeral "9" is chopped off to make room for the smaller dial that houses the second hand. I wish *I* could get the watch for 40 USD, but I'm glad *you* did. Not sure whether you will see my comment, but would love to get your update on the watch after 2 years' ownership before I order mine. Regardless, cheers from USA!✌

    Another excellent video Peter. I have also become a fan of Russian watches. I have several now and they are excellent value and unique as you say. I recently acquired a Vostok Amfibia (different range to their classic Amphibia military watches) Reef GMT which I love to bits. It’s an automatic 200m diver with GMT hand and internal rotating bezel as well as a regular divers bezel. I can’t imagine where you can get a mechanical GMT 200m diver for $230! I ordered direct from Meranom, Moscow in April, the watch finally arrived Melbourne in August! I’d almost given up hope, but worth the wait. Be careful, they’re addictive!

    Thanks Peter I appreciate it. I've been looking at Vostoks for a bit but haven't pulled the trigger on one or two for my collection yet but thanks to your input which I respect I definitely will 😇 . Just yesterday I got the Addies military style watch that I ordered from AliExpress. It's right in the same price range at about $26 usd and for what it is I have to admit I like it. I ordered mine on the Khaki Zulu strap cuz I think it just looks really good with it and with a citizen miyota quartz movement at this price I figured why not. This is actually the first watch I've had with a NATO strap and I can see why people like them and so do I. The band on this watch is 22mm and for an extra $10 I ordered an additional blocks Zulu strap to go with it and I have to say these straps are really nice and I can't find any flaws on them. Here's a link to a shiny things review of the watch I'm talking about so you know and now I can start looking at a couple Vostocks 😇 . th-cam.com/video/0OUWKC_MdCA/w-d-xo.html

    Vostok makes a nice milanese bracelet .. but you are right they are great on NATO straps ... or rubber straps. They are also great to mod ... I am putting an Antarctica caseback on my Amphibian - blue dial submarine ... already have it on an orange silicone rubber strap.
    Vostok also make an excellent GMT and a full dial lum watch.
