Thanks so much for doing this!! Being in NYO Jazz and this trombone section was one of the most fun and musically enriching experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I have so much respect for brothers August, Jett and Wyatt!
It was a pleasure transcribing it all (even if it got a little hard at the end). Absolutely phenomenal playing all around.

The absolutely disgusting flutter is enough to make me cry because I'm not good enough. In all serious that gave me major goosebumps.

Just attempting that 4 part at the end felt maddening. Geeze what causes that growl sound at 1:49? I've heard Troy andrews and Wycliffe Gordon use it and just can't seem to figure that out...
In languages like spanish you have to roll your r’s to pronounce words like “rojo”, this is the same concept. You have to roll your tounge while playing the horn in order to make that sound. It’s called flutter tonguing.

@@caedonjohnson.5279 depending on composer, it can be a pretty common sound in big band repertoire. You’ll see it in a lot of Duke Ellington’s music!

@@sumabatman I feel like you’re awfully defensive about this band, but even the best of players have areas of improvement. Refusing to acknowledge these areas will inhibit growth as a player. Just my two cents, but great band and great sound!
