I have had most of the lyrics of the theme song taking up residence in my head rent-free for almost 20 years now. And I only just realized the completely casual mention of _nuclear weapons_ they threw in. During both bridges, which talk about how the singer wants to punch someone's face it, they specifically describe it as "Megatron class punch" (used to describe explosive TNT equivalence), "crash bomb" (typical Japanese euphemism for nuclear weapons in fiction) and "like a Fat Man" (literally the name of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. This show really did not give a heck about anything.

Bobobobobobo is one of those series you truly never forget, i watched when it first aired and about a year ago it just came to my head outta no where, i fell nowadays it might trigger some people but in my opinion that makes it funnier
I heard a great description about bobobo, a main character who wouldn't hesitate to use his friends as meat shields and weapons. All while beating them as badly as he beats the villains.
Let me tell you, having this as your first ever late school-night anime alongside the Princess Mononoke movie when you're 11 years old is a TRIP. I swore they were a fever dream, especially since I spent the next decade trying to find the name of Princess Mononoke based off of a few vague tramautising memories from the movie with no luck until I saw a random movie review suggested on YT with a familiar MC and wolf.
The fact that this aired on Cartoon Network AND even got to finish before Naruto's english run even did is just...amazing, really. This is by far my favorite Toonami show overall (hot take, I know), as while everyone else was into Naruto, I got into this show and followed it intensely in a weekly basis.

True, but they did a really good job most of the time either coming up with a similarly clever pun in English or replacing it with a less clever but still hilarious non sequitur.
imagine being in middle school and all your weeb friends are in to Sasuke and Ichigo, and your just siting there lusting over Gasser from Bobo-bo, because that was me lol
He looks like killua though from hunter x hunter
Yes honestly
Hey that's me!
Similarly, I always thought Gasser looked really cool and would obsess over his design and outfit. Actually, I still think he has a cool design lmao
I was the same but for Beauty I wanted to be gasser but couldnt begin to explain🤣
This show feels like its abridged on release. I love it.
Imagine trying to make an abridged version? If you tried, it'd probably not be as ridiculous as the original.
@@unfortunateimperial6019 I actually had an idea for this at one point, that instead you would "unabridge" the series, and instead play the whole thing completely straight as if it was never a comedy but instead a serious shonen.
@@kirkwilkins336 But like, just HOW?
@@the24thcolossusjustchillin39 literally just watch fist of the north star for the answer
@@kirkwilkins336 That sounds like the idea one would go with if they had to make an abridge series with this anime... Problem is ... How do you make it anywhere near entertaining as this show is? I mean how good could an actual execuation of that idea actually be?
Definitely the most bizarre thing I saw on toonami as a kid.
'nothing is true, everything is permitted' -the logic of this show's writing
Anything can happen. Anything is possible.
Time and space don’t exist.
On a flimsy ground of reality imagination spins out and weaves new patterns.

Bo-bo-bo might have be the reason why I love that style of comedy. Things in this show were thrown at random, the characters were so extreme with Beauty and Gaser being the mostly sane characters. God I loved that show. Wild Challanger is such a banger.

When the leak broke and he shouted, “that reminds me of my neck!” I’m pretty sure my neighbors heard me laughing
Publisher: so what are your plans for this series
The mangaka: yes
The creator of bobobo is a genius. It makes me sad the anime never finished
I feel that is the joke.
The manga that the anime was based on had been finished years back already.
Agreed. I wish the anime had a proper conclusion
@@SlapstickGenius23 it also had a sequel series.
@@B-rex395 What's its name?
The fact that both DIO and Joseph Joestar voice objectively the best versions of each character is incredible to me
Some of the characters' reactions feel like they came straight out of JoJo
If I’m not mistaken, some of the JoJo voice actors were in the this show.
@@dynamickirby Yeah Richard Epcar AKA Old Joseph voices Bobobo in the dub and Takehito Koyasu AKA Dio voices Bobobo in the sub! Heck even Masaya Onosaka (Alessi's Japanese Va) voices Don Patch in the Sub also!

Bobobo was peak entertainment for me in middle school and now I am contractually obligated to rewatch it every 3 years.
I feel that
The contract written in your soul?
I vaguely remember a toothbrush being happy to die brushing bobobo's teeth, as this is what a toothbrush is made for, only, upon bobobo hearing this to be relegated to brushing his shoes.
i unironically think this show is the best shonen comedy ever made
That title will always be held by Gintama!
"I find bobobo bo bobobo very overstimulating. I like watching a couple episodes at a time but after that I get cranky like a cat who's been pet too much."
This was so perfectly described and delivered, it hit like bit from the show ong. And I agree 100% 💀💀💀
The scene where jelly jiggler has to interrupt because the vibrations of their voices are making him wobble, is fucking gold!
Fun Fact: The manga was already complete but the anime was cancelled due to parents complaining it was too violent
too violent? This is Japan we are talking about. Where Poppe the Performer is classified as a kids show.
Not violence, iirc it was parents finding the jokes offensive
Y'all are going to need to give more specific info. Maybe some decently reliable source or something that tells me you aren't just making it up? No offense.
@@hiddenflare6169 He's not making it up. No idea where it comes from, but that's always the reason listed for why it abruptly ended in Japan.

Every Billiam upload this year has given me tons of nostalgia. It's actually creepy how spot-on all his topics are. He's playing the Google Analytics game well!
That moment you realize this is the closest we'll ever get to having Raiden and Shadow the Hedgehog in the same show.
Hell, the closest to a Death Battle between them.
Funny you mention Shadow the Hedgehog, since that Kirk Thornton, who also voiced Shadow.
@@robbiewalker2831 ... That was ops point, flynn also voices various characters in the dub 😂
Mr.Nu......
@@ginichimaru001 Aren't they both in Kingdom Hearts? Don Patch is Saix and Bobobob is Ansem.
To anyone else here with ADHD, there's a great show named Bluey, and the episode "Army" actually tackles it in a respectful manner, focusing on a character with it.
BoBoBo-Bo BoBo-Bo existed just to make those who love absurdity aware of that love at a very early age.
By the way in the Japanese version, did you know Bo-bobo's Japanese voice actor is Dio Brando? In the English dub, he is voiced by Joseph Joestar.
That explains a lot of the bizarre energy of this show
Clicked on this video so fast, not even
Bobobo’s nose hair could stop me
I was basically terrified of this show as a kid, so I avoided it when it popped up on Adult Swim. Seems like I need to watch it now; the clips you added to this video are hilarious
5:36 Peter Cullen as the announcer was perfect. Now we have Optimus Prime saying random shit
Must be why the Japanese parents were angry about it
this anime was gold to me and still is because of how absurd it is, its one of my main inspirations for art, and just the fact i was telling my friends about this a few days ago, and then literally one of my favorite content creators [you] made this video.. holy moly man you got me all nostalgic, and emotional. god bless billiam
Bobobobobobo is one of those series you truly never forget, i watched when it first aired and about a year ago it just came to my head outta no where, i fell nowadays it might trigger some people but in my opinion that makes it funnier
I mainly remember BoBoBo-Bo BoBo-Bo as that weird show that came on on Toonami before Naruto
This show makes full use of the fact that it's made with animation.
This whole show feels like an extended Kitty0706 video series combined with 'Who's Line Is It Anyway?'
It feels like 'Zoomer Humour: the Anime'
I heard a great description about bobobo, a main character who wouldn't hesitate to use his friends as meat shields and weapons. All while beating them as badly as he beats the villains.
This show is probably responsible for so many odd senses of humor.
Also, Jelly Jiggler is the same voice actor as Garen from League of Legends.
And Rider from Fate/Zero.
@@repulser93 and Orbot/Shadow in Sonic.
Everyone calling this a fever dream but I tuned in for every episode
Let me tell you, having this as your first ever late school-night anime alongside the Princess Mononoke movie when you're 11 years old is a TRIP. I swore they were a fever dream, especially since I spent the next decade trying to find the name of Princess Mononoke based off of a few vague tramautising memories from the movie with no luck until I saw a random movie review suggested on YT with a familiar MC and wolf.
This but instead of Mononoke I always vaguely remember Spirited Away
This show was comedy gold. It was so over the top and I loved every minute of it. Really wished there was more episodes.
The fact that this aired on Cartoon Network AND even got to finish before Naruto's english run even did is just...amazing, really. This is by far my favorite Toonami show overall (hot take, I know), as while everyone else was into Naruto, I got into this show and followed it intensely in a weekly basis.
This was my true anime gateway drug.
i never liked it i just watched it bevause i had nothing better to do and naruto was right after
"Bobobo bo bobo bo is weird" is redundant and an understatement. I wish that the anime wasn't canceled as early as it was.
This was the shonen parody before One Punch Man took the mantle, and it made my childhood.
fun fact in the Bobobo manga Yugi makes a cameo cause while at a party the creator of Bobobo thought it would be funny if Yugi just randomly showed up and the creator of Yugioh agreed and even drew Yugi for that panel.
About the time this came out while I was in college, I had a friend who had just got a dog he named Beau. Any time I saw Beau, I just immediately said "BeauBeauBeau-Beau BeauBeau-Beau." Fun dog.
Makes me real happy to see this franchise being remembered, still hoping for a continuation or reboot of bobobo-bobo-bobo.
"Stinko de mayo" made me giggle far more than it should have. I am such a child.
Many years ago way back in high school me and my friend were talking on the phone and he was at this anime convention and there is like this competition where one of the challenges was saying the name of this show perfectly
i remember as a kid I felt that Bobobo-bo Bobo-bo was just japanese Spongebob with how absurd and insane and funny it was to me
No joke, this series is what got me into mainstream anime.
I have been noticed a bit of an uptick of Bobobo awareness in recent months, and thank god for it because that show deserves way more love and appreciation. Now time for my Super Fist of The Nosehair: Subscribng to Billiam!
This is only the second video I noticed talking about it, there are more?!?
I was today's years old when I finally realized that bobobo's character and fist of the nose hair is a parody of ken from fist of the north stat
I found the artist comments from Shonen Jump by Bobobo's author, hilarious
This was the show that got me to like anime.
Does anyone remember the arc where they got stuck in a weird death trap board game where they threw various items around (including an elephant) as dice and they needed to win the game or else they would get turned into crystal statues for all eternity? I remember that.
Man, I legit felt like the only person who knew about this show. I always asked my friends who like anime about it, and none of them had ever heard of it, which was weird, because I know some of them also watched Toonami for DBZ, so they had to have seen the ad for it at least.
Good video my dude. And your one about Zatch Bell is about to be watched. Yet another show nobody seems to know about somehow....
