I was quite happy to see them last year. I've been waiting for this for so long. Too bad the mix was nowhere as good as it was when Pete Bartlett stood behind the desk. Miki's guitar, in particular, is always too low.
Drummer comes in and is playing way too fast! I love this band on record. but this live performance is clearly substandard. They just don't seem to be cutting it vocally.
They were never great singers. On records, the vocals weren't very prominent in the mixes. That was a concession that was made to compensate for substandard vocals.
@@garydavis9361 Come on, Miki's voice is unforgettable. It's true they never had a lot of technique but they had something not everyone can have, no matter how much they work it out : naturally good voices.
@@garydavis9361 They were inconsistent with live vocals, that's for sure. Miki was more "on" than Emma, who was often dead flat. I think you are correct about studio production, where vocals could be relegated to the "wash" effect that was part of their mix. Still love them, love watching them live, but would rather listen to their studio recordings any day.
When will drummers learn not to hit the skins and cymbils so darn hard. Its s BEAT..NOT another instrament....turn the VOLUME DOWN on the drum mics! Most performers would be better just playing to a PRE RECORDED drum track could be controlled better volume wise. But "people like to SEE a drumkit"? I dont get it. Ya get the drummer..isolate his playing..the band plays in studio til ya got your drum track...the drummer gets PAID...have a nice life! Ya got your drum track thats NOT a drum machine....play the drum tape! Do your show!...why screw with drummers at ALL? In jazz band in school in big autitiriums and football feilds people heard the DRUMS just fine. In alotta places that drummer wouldnt even NEED to be "miced"....besides theres a "board guy" should be trimming the edge off the drum mics? Beleive ME ya wouldnt miss the drummer at MY shows..but ya would HEAR em. Drummers today should be "heard an not seen". Besides..thats why the COPS always show!

Sept 25th, 2016 at the Fonda in L.A. Lush Live. Lovingly tattoo'd in my mind forever. (They added Nothing Natural to their setlist!)

I can say I WAS THERE and I saw them for thr first time after years of being one of my favourite bands and discovered them after they split. So lucky!
