Spoilers below for the anime movie Your Name. If you have not watched it yet, DO NOT read this. It is a movie that must be experienced before you consume extra media about it and spoil yourself. Bro if I got to marry the girl of my dreams rather than have her die to a meteor, I'd lose any amount of memories because old memories will fade, it's the ones that you make new that matter. Plus, they'd be memories of the horrors of finding out she's gone, dying to in a horrific way. Running to the impact site just to find her town demolished. Having to go through hell to try to get her back, only being able to convey what happens to a version of her past self to ensure her safety. Then, she fades away, me only getting to touch her once, until I happen to see her years later. The whole time agonizing about her. No, I'd prefer to see her smiling face in my memories. I'd prefer the get togethers with family and the fun over that gloom. Not everything about a relationship will be sunshine and rainbows but to have what happened to those two before they reunite fade in place of allowing us to build our lives from that reuinification is much more preferable. Your Name was a depresso espresso fest for me until the very last seconds of the movie. It hurt seeing what happened and I cried in front of a bunch of my friends, which I never do, because of how moving the ending was. To see them not only get reunited but also married, canonically confirmed by the author, is *chef's kiss* perfecto.
