The best part about this video is knowing that you are keeping a machine like this on the trail and giving the owner another chance at plowing. Whatever you are charging $$$ is 100% worth it. Just found your channel the other day and love this content. Makes me want to fix up my 99 big boss 500. Thanks
Thanks man, I’m glad you enjoy the content and what I do. You should definitely fix up your big boss.
@@rockspowersports i will get to it- just i have 3 600 grizzlies and a 660 to fix up first!
Love how people will talk crap about welds but dont own a welder and have never welded before. Keep up the great work
I like the never give up attitude
Great informative and entertaining video, thx from sunny Sweden.
Excellent video as usual!
Thanks!
Thank you, one of the best videos I have seen. You did a great job commentating with your excellent skills and knowledge. 🏆
Thanks, I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed it.
Love you drain pans! My father taught me that when I was a young buck! I still do it to this day. Three snowmobile trails are open soon hope to see one of these weekends!
Yeah they work good for checking the oil contamination after it’s drained. And yes hopefully they open up soon, it’s looking good so far.
Excellent video! I'm getting ready to take my transmission apart. Hopefully it only needs bearings because it's whining. Thanks for the detailed video!
Always enjoy your videos man, wish West Virginia wasn’t so far from your place I need some work done on my 09 brute force lol.. Hard to find honest people like yourself. Keep up the great work.
I’m glad you enjoy them and yeah that’s quite a ways from me. Thanks though!
Good job! Awesome video as always!
Thanks!
Yay that you so much for uploading a full video
May sound crazy but I have seen teeth welded back up and re machines along with shafts for ATV use and they work. Sure glad to see you work on and save these older units.
Love the video, just watched the whole thing while my son is in developmental therapy and I’m sitting outside, please keep bringing the short form content over like this!!
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Hope your sons doing good!
Thank you, He Loves to ride with me, in the sxs or on a quad, he loves to feel the wind, He's gonna be a powersports fan like me when he's older for sure! @@rockspowersports
That’s awesome!
Texas wavin
Wow, not as many people. See you on here. I’m having fun. Also, Missouri says hi.
In the '90s Polaris manuals called for ATF in the front hub.
That 6x6 would be a nice tool to have. Had that exact yellow 01 sportsman 500ho on the farm for years. Got it new, great machine.
For sure! I gotta get mine going one of these days, that dump bed would come in handy. Those sportsman’s are nice wheeler!
@@rockspowersports not the best sport utility to be a sporty machine on trails. But the thing isn't bad at all on them. Best work/farm wheeler I've ever owned. Had quite a few, 2 of them brand new.
They may not be the faster on the trails but they ride nice and smooth.
@@rockspowersports i raced my 01 sportsman vs my 02 660 grizzly thru the fields the sportsman was stock grizzly on 27" itp 589s on itp wheels. The sportsman would pull on it. That was switching back and forth with a friend. Both were b class mx bike guys at the time. Later I raced a 05 Rincon and beat it. I would say stock vs stock 660 grizzly would win.
Apparently Polaris never planned on that machine lasting over 20 years, being that they have discontinued parts for it already.
Great video , do see many of the Grizzlies with the 708's ?
Thanks and no I haven’t had a grizzly with the 708 in it come to the shop yet. I’ve worked on a few 686 grizzly’s though.
Good morning Arkansas Wavin
Good morning.
Rock! I'm making that trade tonight Grizzly 660 for the Renegade 800. IT has 6500 miles on it, would that mileage concern you? Anything i should look out for when i test ride and meet to pick it up? Ive watched your test ride video of the 800 like 3 times already lol was it yours or a customers? Thanks again!
That renegade 800 was mine, I bought it fixed it up and sold it. At 6500 miles I would look over all the chassis parts, such as bushings/bearings. U-joints in the drive shafts. On the Can am’s the differential seals tend to go bad quite often, I’d check to make sure oil isn’t leaking out of the diffs. And then obviously listen to the engine, make sure there is no odd noises.
So I have to ask cause I've been debating it. Is the polaris clutch holder just a 60$ money scam? Or is it needed for re instal. Cause that came off great lol
The clutch holder is used to torque the clutch bolt down. It’s not necessary but if you want to get it torqued correctly you’ll need a holder. To pull the clutch off you will need a clutch puller.
Have you ever used Power Sports Nation for parts? That transmission gear with the 3 worn down nubs is like $53.
Yes I have used them in the past. I ended up getting the shaft and gear for $150.
What’s this service cost?
Where is your shop at? In denver Colorado?
You’re the second person that thought I was in Colorado. I’m actually in Vermont, other side of the country.
Love the fixing videos. Really interesting. I started my mechanic life working on dirt bikes, mini bikes and 3 wheelers. Now im a mechanic for chevy. Turns out starting on that stuff showed me i really like wrenching.
I’m glad you enjoy them. I work on my own vehicles but prefer the small engine stuff.
Function over form
I hawe problem whith m'y 2004 Yamaha kodiak 450 when i shut IT off IT let got small pop
What coups IT be
It sounds like it’s running a little lean. Could need to go up on the jetting. Or maybe if you haven’t cleaned the carb in a while that might help as well.

Impressive work! How many hours did you have in it!? I almost bought a new 6 by 6 back in the 90's a 350 2 stroke. You don't happen to work on farm equipment do you? Lol. Keep up the great work!
Its pronounced shiv 😀
