Photographing rare wildlife with the Canon EOS-1 D X Mark III

- From the waves in Tahiti, we move to the southern Kalahari, where Marina Cano photographed curious creatures and elusive endangered species in the first wildlife shoot with the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III.
"When I started photographing wildlife, I was just focusing on achieving beautiful pictures, but in the time I spent with animals, little by little, I really fell in love with them." Marina's approach to wildlife changed: instead of making purely artistic images that celebrated different species, conservation became much more central to her work. She wanted to use the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III's advanced range of features to photograph more familiar animals such as meerkats, cheetahs and giraffes as well as rarer and often endangered species such as pangolin and wild painted dogs.
To shoot a range of wildlife subjects at different distances, Marina took lenses from wide-angle to telephoto in her kitbag, which included: Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM, a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM, a Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x, a Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM and a Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM. "Seconds are precious in wildlife photography, so the autofocus on the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III is fantastic because it's so fast," she says. "It's probably the highlight of the camera for me... I think it's the best camera on the planet." With red sand and dust everywhere, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III's weather sealing also came in handy, as well as the silent shooting when shooting animals she didn't want to alarm.

Danne Lito because it will be pretty annoying to choose 10 photos when you have done 10.000 shoots. They make sure in the ad that you can ear the brrrrrrrrrrt. I have read that it has a insane noise control with high ISO. Ok that is good, but the brrrrrrrrrt is retarded. + your memory cards will not be able to record all that brrrrrrT.
memory cards have improved a lot to record a lot and brrrrrrT is what a real wild life photographer is.......we take 10,000 shots then we choose and choose.....edit..edit

I have seen the reviews of how heavy it is and whatever and I laugh at those videos and here is Ms. Cano carries it like its no big deal.

I think they need to do more types of this videos where real photographers say something about the camera, ik thats not a review but ik that canon has crazy potential that other brands dont have. I have my 6D since 2014 and i shot soo many landscapes, lots of old building and made some work in weddings. Everyone is like oh that camera is old, you should get a sony. You know when the gear works with your mind... you dont need change. If it works.. it works. I might buy the next eos R or a 5d mark iv or if the V comes out.

Господи, какие же афигенные снимки! Действительно, дикая природа прекрасна и очень важно, чтобы камера не подвела в самый ответственный момент, что бы и фокус попал, и скорострельность - чтобы не пропустить момент и высокие ИСО, что бы чувствовать себя уверенно при недостаточном свете. Сам снимаю на 5д3, бывает студия, но в основном - собак в движении. Часто фокус не успевает. Думаю переходить на 1дх. Перешёл бы на 1дх3, тк на сегодня - это просто топ в DSLR, но очень дорого)

I'm using a 7D as well and am considering getting another if this one ever breaks haha
I upgraded from a 7d to a 6dMK II, I the ISO performance is a very big advantage, with the 7D you dont want to shoot over 400iso, but with the 6d MK II, I Can shoot at ISO 4,000 no problem!
@@HeinrichGossler I'm typically shooting between 1,000-2,000 ISO on my 7D without any issues. Anything after about 3200 it's becomes more of an issue but can still be easily fixed in post. Could just have got lucky with my camera though.

In One frame she had 200-400 with extender, don't know about others
With practice almost anyone can handhold a 600, but you need to practice a bit. Sometimes I will just grab these larger lenses for a walk to get more used to them and build some strength so that you are ready when you need it and I'm not a big guy by any means.

The wild dogs are very fast moving and very hyperactive. They are always on the go and also difficult to track
