- Jonathan and Angela Scott are multi award-winning wildlife photographers based in Kenya. These Canon Ambassadors set out on safari with the new EOS-1D X Mark II. This is their story.
6 years after release I've ordered a low shutter count body for work . I had an original 1DX for three years and I've used the mkii several times. A great camera that still stacks up for working pros.
I love how they keep the techy talk to a minimum, their excitement about how they are able to capture this beauty makes it even more inspirational. Great job Canon!!

One of the best video i have ever seen in TH-cam.
This couple’s lifestyle is so amazing, give them a film camera and they’ll still produce amazing images. Moral of the story: chase the story, not the technology.

I remember a time when the rebel was considered top notch and everyone wanted it.
be grateful for what you got others can't even afford that. You can create wonderful imagery using that just be creative
Got myne 14 month ago, I’ve never looked back, I know this is a strange saying but the price is bargain for what this camera can achieve, it has shot my work right up into the stratosphere
dude i been shooting on 12 year old 500d . so am thinking of buying canon 6d mark 2 or 1dx mark i (2012) used i want that feel of a camera

renting a camera body in sweden is expencive, for an D5 it is about 200$ a day.
Maybe save up and not just expect it

telemaq76 Just so you know, there are plenty of rich people in Africa. There are actually at least 5 billionaires and countless millionaires. Most Africans have a smartphone. Read some REAL news every once in a while.
I love my 1Dx MkII; it's an incredible camera. I have no problem using it in dud light at ISO10,000 and can push up to ISO51,200 to get acceptable quality images under the most trying circumstances.
Just got back from the same park with the 1DX. Loved it!!! great Video!!!

One of my biggest desires is to travel to Africa & take shots of the Lions in their natural habitats & watching this & being able to see the Love and excitement you guys had about this camera. I cannot wait until I make the dream a reality. I only hope to run into you two while i'm there.

That's amazing. I think the super low light performance can help to take good images even with a lens having smaller apertures (generally bit cheaper lenses)!!

Great short film, and grat people! Is all this film recorded only with canon 1dx mark II or other cameras also? If used only 1dx m2 it will be nice to know what picture profile was used (because of lack a c-log in this camera)?

I just hit the resolution wall on my trusty 60D.
400 mm. With 640 effective i shot a building about a mile away and am able to resolve a exterior stairwell easily but not as sharp as usual.

or maybe €6400? for body only. No C4K out (resulting in expensive fast memory cards!), only HD, No fullframe C4K, horrible big filesizes (800MB/s!), no specific low light performer... etc.

Is there a silent shutter mode?? I’m not sure 🤔 my Fuji XH1 is super stealth don’t hear a thing, perfect for wild life
Hi Elias, silent single and silent HS continuous modes are available for this camera. Although not completely silent, this softens the noise.
Canon Europe yes I know i still have a Canon IDx but i won’t be upgrading to the mk2 or mk3 my hand gets sore carrying all that weight around on 12-14 hour weddings, I will be definitely getting more mirrorless options see what Canon can offer soon otherwise im happy with Fuji so far everything is som much more lightweight.

Great video, but the theatricality about how great this new camera is, comes too much. The 1Dx Mark 1 can achieve 95% the same results and I am pretty sure it was their previous camera of choice.
It's a promotional video by Canon - did you expect them to tell you to NOT buy their new camera because the last one can do almost the same? ;)
Hi Well done for this promotion, I enjoyed it, I been twice to Africa and been a canon user since 40 years, I own a 5D MKiii and what to update to a 1Dx MKii or a 5D Mark iv having the 30 mega pixels will help with reach for my 300 F2.8 L MKii but what about image quality ? what should i purchase please, thanks Andre from Malta
I would suggest a 5dm4 and 300f2.8 m2.. 300f2.8m2 is a jewel.. If you have money left after buying 300mm, think of 5dm4 or 1dx2 and decide according to your wallet.. Both are good

Hi,
I need help for playback of 4K 60fps videos from Canon 1Dx mark II and 5D mark IV, on my Macbook pro. Its a i7 machine, with 16GB RAM, so I don't have doubt on the capabilities of the laptop. They hang a lot and don't play smooth. Even the 30fps 4K files aren't smooth. The videos are heavy but they play on other older Windows Machines, but not here. Whats the codec to be used for playback of these files? Or what player should I use which has all the playback capability?

It worked smooth with EOS Movie Utility software.
Do I switch from Nikon D500 and Nikkor 200-500mm lens?
Thats a great combo you have, but if you can justify the cost of the 1dx and get a lens to replace yours then go for it... but I dont think you will br gaining much more.

I'm sat here with my Canon 700D and a Sigma 70-200 f5.6 just dreaming of getting gear like they have in the video. Don't get me wrong my setup still gives good photos but the lens limits the resolution of the photo and the camera itself is so slow compared to this and he was exactly right in saying there are split second moments and tbh at 5fps I barely catch squirrels mid air or song birds in flight even if I predict the moment. Someone buy me some gear and I'll put out better photos than most of these I bet!

Carlos G if I’m not mistaken the cinematographer that shot the whole series (Tales by Light) said on instagram he used the C300II and 1DC for the majority of the series. All Canon though.

great vid and all but to be fair am a bit surprised on the sharpness of the pictures towards the end with the flies on the lion and such.. I own a 1DXmkII so I know it's a fantastic cam but it's still only 20MP and the sharpness isn't its best attribute when you start zooming in the frame... soooo was that really pulled out of the camera or something.. I dunno feels a bit too sharp to be true and it's a canon official video so yeah..
actually EVERYTHING else was perfect, just this one picture makes me tick a bit.. and on the other hand I really feel jealous of that couple to be living there AND working as photographer full time there... I've been there and it's just magical..
Christophe Paitrault agreed it looks like it was Fake you can do it with the Sony 7 series 5ds canon series Sony 42 mega pixels or canon 50 mega pixels it's a bit off ??sorry looks like an over kill but 1dx Mk II camera is awesome or it was shot as 4K crop image and edited later.
I own a 1dx II and used 300f2.8 and 600mm with it.. It is ultra sharp if shot with a support. try shooting at f9-f11..
It looks like they're able to get very close to the animals, so between that and having a 600 mm lens, yeah, it's probably an actual picture.
Sharpness is not always the megapixel count, but the glass you put in front of the sensor. Put excellent lenses onto that sensor in the right hands, your gonna get excellent images

They're using the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM and also the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1,4x if I'm not mistaken.
