I dont think many fans would think this song is the bands best song but i think it is a good ending song for an long emotional filled concert, bang the shit out of the system....
Funny thing with Zan, there's been a few rewrites (two studio versions at least) and live you can pick any performance from any year and it'll be totally different. For band interaction you need to watch early performances (mainly, there's exceptions). There's a late 90s performance of this that's very drawn out and really for the fans, but Kyo and co actually get off the stage and interact directly with the crowd, much less gutteral, since it's the original version. It is a repetitive beast though, more for the "there" vibe than the singular watching thing.
I am an old metal head and Visual Kel with all subgenres really fascinate me. Dir en Gray, Deviloof and JILUKA is so heavy it it is silly! But good in the same way!
OMG KYO SMILED! :D I actually had to go back and listen to the original Zan from 1999. It's not one of my favorites so it's not as ingrained as some other Dir en grey songs. This new version is more in-your-face than the original, but structurally it's not very different. I do miss Kyo's maniacal laughter from the original. I would take that over the growls here. When Kyo shouts "Last Song!" it's the final song of the encore, the final song of the night. I'm not sure which live this is from but it feels recent-ish, which makes sense as they're on their 25th anniversary as a band and have been re-recording a lot from their old catalogue. They tend to end on a very intense song. My favorite endings are "The IIID Empire" and "Rasetsukoku" but this would be fun live. Let me know when you're reviewing Diru again and I'll come on! ~Corinne / Queenie
This is actually from Androgynous in 2017. They did remake this song for a third time recently (within the last year or two, I might've lost track of time) though.
Thanks for the reaction, David. Yes I would like very much if Queenie could show up to do those reactions with you when possible. I remember you mentioning her for the first time (that I recall) way back when you did your first reaction to UM (black pentagram), this was around 3 years or so ago. Also during the X Japan reactions and the previous Dir en Grey song (Vinushka) that you reacted to. Regarding the song, while I like it I know there's many far better songs from them. But the live show was so good I decided to make the request anyway. Dir en Grey songs vary greatly from each other not just because they're a 25+ year old band but they had huge stylistic changes throughout the years which means there's a lot of diversity in their catalog. I've requested some more songs from them as you know and I believe a few of them should be showing up in a not so distant future, and they're all very different from each other but I like them quite a lot. If you end up liking them even better, if not, not an issue at all too. 🤘
Live versions of this are always a little weird for me, and it’s because of Kaoru (guitarist at stage right). When he’s playing the main lead riff, he almost always sounds a beat behind the drums and it ends up screwing with my ear.
I completely agree with you about Dir en Grey and Kyo's voice. I would like you to react to: The GazettE - Taion Live Kargrra, - Utakata Exist Trace - True

If you're a melody guy this might not be best Diru song for you😅But I like it because it's fast and fun, you can go all out on this one.

The song is good and the live performance is great

@@acherontiaatropos6048 Thanks! I was trying to remember when Kyo had that bowl cut hairstyle.

10:50 was unexpected but funny how fitting it is 😂😂
Zan introduced me to Diru and I must admit this version is waaaaaaaaaay better than the album one
