When both ladies realize this at 3:07, they smile, laugh, and embrace and congratulate each other (leaving only Sue to wonder what happened). There was never enough of this kind of love on the show.

Honestly, I think that Rachel and Mercedes were really similar. Both knew they were stars, and were extremely competitive. Both wanted the spotlight, and hated it when they didn't get it. Both were insanely talented (the two most talented in my opinion), but they were also really caring people.
