My wife and I visited here on our first few days in Ko Samui. These people do an absolutely fantastic job with the elephants. Loved the fact you can get up close to these huge animals. Watched your excellent videos prior to heading to Thailand. Just arrived back home from a fab holiday there. Keep doing a great job Geoff.

Hi Geoff, Glad you enjoyed it here. Did you see the two baby elephants? loved them and absolutely loved the old one that was blinded in one eye by its previous owner before it was rescued. We loved our visit. The elephants are free to roam and do what they want when they want. No riding, no bathing with them just walk around with them and see them in a much better environment that where they used to be. Well done Samui Elephant Sanctuary, cant wait to visit again.

I saw a lot of bad treatment of animals when I worked in the Far East. It was disgusting at times. It's wonderful to see such kind Thai people looking after these magnificent creatures with care. A caring society looks after its animals.

One of the most elegant animals in the world and to my shame i sat on one in Koh samui on a short trek .To this day i regret that ..i hand fed it after and the staff thought i was crazy buying as many banana's as i could .I will never forget the overwhelming feeling looking into the Elephants eye as i fed him .the stories they could tell .What a job that is ..where do i sign up .One of your best Geoff ,cheers mate

This may be my first time commenting on one of your videos, but my husband and I have become obsessed with watching them! Seriously, we sit down at night to watch a movie, and then one of us ends up saying, "Come on, just one Geoff Carter video?" And two hours later, we end up watching an elephant sanctuary gem here. :-) Thank you for this beautiful video and for all your work. Because of you, we are traveling to Chiang Mai next month! Can't believe it! So excited. Actually I have a question: We got immunizations yesterday, and were told to take anti - malaria pills. Do you ever take those while you are there? I noticed you all put on bug repellent in this video. So just wondering if you take the antibiotics as well? Sorry, random question! Anyway, many many thanks for all the entertainment. not everywhere in Thailand tho still more work to do. its because they are making more money from western tourists paying 100 pounds plus for these expiernces (to go hiking with them)

I'm pointing out there is more money to be made from this business model from western tourists which is why things are changing. but a lot of tour companies are still nickel and diming and working there elephants to death, along with the phajjan still in existence. so there is more work to be done to get things to change. its definitely not because thais care about animals their culture is still a long way off that look at the king parading his elephants through the streets and making them ride bicycles
