That is fantastic, anyone complaining about either this or the mini you made wouldn't even bother to attempt the build. No need to shit on your own builds, we should all understand the context but this is really a great build idea.
Your videos just keep getting better and better. Seeing your son play Zelda and having such a positive first impression really wants me to make something like this.
Great video and of course fantastic build It really looks professionally made and overall really good I don't know how better the resolution is (probably not better) The idea though of putting a whole new switch was amazing for me and I think it could be an innovative way to use some of the kinda broken switches (the ones that don't dock for example)
What the f*** are you doing whoops sorry that wasn't very nice I apologize for that anyway I'm going to come to the UK and and hang out with you and I'm going to find your house and you're going to need to show me your technology especially your faulty technology
If only Nintendo released something like this. not cardboard rubbish, the strap would be so much nicer, adjustable lenses and a way to clip in your switch. It would be well worth the money. Good video as always and a great concept.
Just seeing this for the first time. This wasn’t pointless at all like you said in the video. Very well done. A little unrefined but much more so than most prototypes. Seriously I’d buy one for the right price.
he should 3D print a proper grille for that gap at 9:15 and perhaps a thin ninjaflex trim band to go around it with neat holes for the 3.5mm and cart slot and power button and volume rocker ,maybe raised nubs for power and volume actually and a neat hole for the USB C and SD port at the bottom to cover up and properly frame in all the dremeled holes
Gret project great video vince..as well as the slim and light switch ;-) u know some people obviously didnt get it isn't the look of it what counts but functionality and the idea itself and of course the fact u ve build it with ur hands ;-)
Hi vince the oculus quest is coming out soon hopefully in a few days time at F8 Confrence. The oculus quest is a stand-alone VR headset. I think you will like it 😁
This is really a interesting and well built gadget for homemade. Thumbs up. Would have loved to see a video on the build, but I know you can't film everything or you'd have a hard time getting anything done. Cheers.
Loving it Vince! Next time you should make a build video in a separate video. Would be great to see you making it!! Cant wait to see what the Vince da vinci come up with next?!?!
This is genius way of using spare parts. Nintendo should be watching. At minimum someone should release the device as something you can slide your switch into. I’d rather play with it strapped on my head then holding it to my head while I play with the joycons. Playing with the controller in your hands would be more relaxed.
Nice job Vince ;) How about incorporating a small FHD LCD screen into the headset with an HDMI in (i.e. on the strap at the back of the head), that would get rid of the pixelation probably and you could connect really anything to it....and it would weight a bit less. Or use the electronics from the docking station to connect to it via USB C.
Despite what you say about it's looks, I would buy that instead of the official Nintendo VR. I think it looks pretty good myself and I like how you have a hidden compartment for a couple games. 😊 If I had the extra switches and parts that you do I would consider trying to make one up myself. Watching some of your other repair videos gave me the confidence to change out the broken faceplate on my PSP. It's a small easy fix but it was out of my comfort zone before. Great video, looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! Also hello from Canada!
My lord vince that is sooo omg super duper awesome and it looks so good and clean i love it man it makes me want to try and make one XD great video and great getting those first impressions too
Great work vince, actually queit a brilliant idea, been watching your videos for awhile now and they never fail to entertain keep up the good work mate 👍🏻
this is a really cool idea and I made one recently but I made mine so you just slide it in but used the lenses in the VR headset and it looked A LOT better buts still on the switch so still not really good
Now that I think of it the only way to use a Pro Controller is to use it to load up CSN you can't use the joycons to loaded them switch to Pro Controller instill you can't do a lot because there are some limitations
This is a very cool build. A great use of parts that would not make a "fully functional" switch again. it would be interesting if you could make it work with a PS4 controller and regain the touchscreen effect through the controller's touchpad. Probably not, but it would be neat if it was possible/plausible. I think you should contact Linus at LTT to see if his team could make your idea at the end. The part about making a real vr headset made like you were saying. I dunno if a rasberry pi, or something equally small and off the shelf, would have the power to pull it off or not. I doubt 4k would be plausible since it would take significant power to drive it....but 2k....hmmm. Maybe?? They do some crazy stuff on their channel, and seem to have pretty crazy connections to the hardware side of the biz.
I like that he described the Oculus Quest just shortly before it was publicly released. Even though the switch is arguably more powerful than the original Quest. Hopefully better companies and not Facebook take up his comments.
If you dock it you lose the VR functionality in the BOTW, you'd be looking at 1/2 of a complete image with each eye rather than two similar images that are offset enough to produce a 3D effect. If you want HD BOTW, the best you could come up with is to use CEMU with a WMR device. You wont get head tracking in the game, but rather like playing on a huge HD display in a virtual space right in front of you.
@@jmarynicz i meant a customized dock with the same screen with a dock build in. cemu emulator doesn't run zelda: breath of the wild perfectly with it's default profile, the last time i tried. i could still play in stereoscopic 3d on the 3dtv via dock mode, just that it'll stretch horizontally.
@@nintendians it runs at a solid 60 for me at 2560x1080 and probably would at 4k if I had a better monitor/hmd. Again like I said in order to get anything over 720p output on the switch it has to be via a dock output, having a dock output (regardless of if it's a custom one or not) disables the VR functionality (head tracking, etc) from botw. Not sure what a 3d tv has to do with anything, a 3d view still won't allow for any VR view, head tracking, etc.
@@jmarynicz you probably have a better pc than me. but at lease you getting better image quality and it's good for stereoscopic 3d. just saying that a 3dtv still give you that stereoscopic 3d feel like you looking out of a vitrual world, well got to make sacrifices if you want high resolution, beside you don't have to use the motion controls in zelda: breath of the wild if you don't want too.
@@nintendians I was talking more about the motion sensors being used for the head tracking (for the VR experience) rather than for actual game play controls (though I believe there are a few shrines that do require motion controls). But it now looks like most of this is all moot, since there have been some recent mods for BOTW on Cemu that allow for both 1st person and VR, I haven't checked out all the details, but it looks like you could have high res VR BOTW without having to strap a Switch to your face.
Nope I don’t know when it got released I don’t really care putting the switch in it is a cool idea not the headset itself maybe you did not pick up on my sarcasm in the comment
i'm sure you could sell these just for people to be able to play Zelda more comfortably. make a more finished-looking video that shows this off a little better and i'm pretty sure it would go viral and get you on tv :-)
btw Vince, you legit make a company building these or the switch mini and people would actually buy it. Do you know why I know that? It’s because I would buy one, if it was like £400 that’d be really cool Just an idea
Hello mate, i got problem with my ps4 and i think you are the guy to go to and your help will be appriciated. I got CE 34878-0 error and dont know what to do. Thank you
Thanks Pete, I had 2 headsets and this one had more room and adjustable lens holders in it so I used it (called a VR Box £12 on eBay). All the bits had to be removed from the Switch in order to get it all to fit. I am sure over the next few months VR headsets will hopefully arrive from China which will fit the Switch itself so it can be clipped or slid into place. This version would be lighter though as the main metal chassis of the Switch has been removed :-)
If Nintendo doesn't end up making a Nintendo switch mini then some third party could make a case for your switch mini concept perhaps one day? I can dream
There is a real vr mode for botw and odyssey Im pretty sure you have seen a comment like this before but just wanted to say it. You might also be using it and i just didnt hear it to.
@@Mymatevince It should be interesting, looks like it should bridge the gap between the cheap phone/standalone VR setups and a full on expensive PC HMD. At this point Nintendo should just hire you.
