    Saw this kid mixtape the year he committed to Alabama. He had the glimpse of that mamba mentality and he had his head on straight. I admired his focus on and off the court. If I recall, he was a 4.0 student. Kid didn’t even have social media until he got to the pros. That’s something you don’t see everyday from these young athletes. He got game and can be a special contributor when put in the right situation.

    Good video. I think Collin Sexton will fit in Miami with his play style. And somehow Miami could trade for him, I believe he’ll greatly benefit playing with Jimmy Butler, Bam, and Tyler Herro and it also gives Miami another perimeter scorer and Utah is ready to offload on him anyway so they’re not really losing anything with Sexton gone

    As a cavs fan, it sucks cause I did enjoy sexton and hoped he could be a part of our comeback. But you can tell his game is limited due to his IQ and size. Prior to the Mitchell trade, I had proposed a package similar to the one given to Utah, but for Brandon Ingram. I think Cleveland would be more balanced, with less of a liability in the backcourt, and that sexton would've thrived as NO's new lead guard. The fact that he would've been on zion's timeline would've been the cherry.

    It's crazy how the NBA shifts. Isaiah Thomas was a star in Boston just 6-7 years ago and Sexton has better physical gifts but NBA wants bigger players now. He would've been a star a decade ago. Put him on a team like Miami and he could still be very useful as a 6th man. In an ideal world there would be a bigger playmaker next to him but neither Cle or Utah have bothered to do anything to make this kid's life easier.

    I think the reason hes not playing was made crystal clear in the interaction he had with Will Hardy last season for as good as a scorer as he is and as intense as he is he doesnt play disciplined fundamental basketball hes erratic and when asked to play in structure with a system hes struggles he wont ever be an efficient undersized guard if he doesnt learn to play the game

    • @jennifercheeks
      @jennifercheeks ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think there’s misconception as to why he’s not playing and it doesn’t have anything to do with him. It’s his coach being poor at his job and not doing research on his players and truly valuing what they bring to the table . His interaction with Hardy was nothing bad lol he was simply coaching him. The guards he’s currently playing behind two guards who make more mistakes and play way more selfish than sexton ever did. So the very reasons you listed apply to THT and clsrkson ten times over and they’re starting. So the reasons ppl are coming up with are inconsistent especially when you look at the player on the team who aren’t even better than him but yet have these long leashes

  • @jennifercheeks
    @jennifercheeks ปีที่แล้ว +6

    He’s in the worse situation. In Utah. He has the tools , talent and work ethic to be a star. He was heading in that direction before the injury. The sad part about it now is that he’s not the reason why he can’t be a star it’s his current team that is determined to minimize and under utilize him and there’s no reason or rationale behind it. This is a guy that can put up 20 in his sleep efficiently and close games. That’s not something eveybody can do. The direction of the Utah jazz does not exist. Do anybody really believe THT and Jordan clarkson are better options at either guard spot? I can’t say any sane person thinks that. It’s a very very odd situation. He barely plays 20 minutes a game. It’s one thing if his trajectory was limited because he simply didn’t work or didn’t have the talent but neither are true. He’s literally being sabotaged and it isn’t talked about enough!

    • @MicheleKateWhy
      @MicheleKateWhy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed something is up. Ainge and Hardy doing some shenanigans and messing with this kid. Even David Fizdale went running from that Utah situation after one season. If he's not their cup of tea why give him a 4 year contract but I guess Ainge is too busy trying to collect trade assets. I really hope Sexton can land in a better situation.

    • @jennifercheeks
      @jennifercheeks ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MicheleKateWhyyeah it’s the oddest situation I ever seen. No nba team operates like this , where you would start a 6th man in Jordan clarkson and bench a starting guard that averaged 24 just two years ago. It doesn’t make sense. You use Lauri to his maximal potential but literally hinder sexton and sabotage him resulting in you getting blown out every game this season so far? Yeah weird is an understatement
