One point is ,is it worth the total up grade price .For a slightly better picture for the most part .If money is not a problem, then stay up to date. But if buying a new 4K projector-4k blu-ray player--4k reciever. Hits home in the old wallet .Then stay with what's making everybody happy in the H-T room .One thing for sure ,it is a great time to buy a very good 1080p projector And a 4K projector
There was a clear difference. But most of the time we won't be doing a/b tests. So when we're watching either 1080p or just 4k we won't have another point of reference. If we're watching a 4k bluray using a 4k projector...the image will just appear clear with good saturation. but we won't think "this looks better than a HD image using a 10i0p projector of flatscreen". All these a/b head-to-head tests are for fun and marketing...when we're home with our new HT gear...we won't notice a difference because we're not thinking about that. We spend so much time BEFORE buying our new flatscreens or projectors...trying to find comparison videos, reading 4k disc reviews, projector reviews from TH-cam/magazines...etc...only to come to the point where we're watching at home with our new gear. One system (e.g. 1 projector, 1 4k bluray player, 1 set of 11.2 speakers...etc.). And when the video is in motion we're even less likely to think about the differences in resolution, the detail, bumps in colour...etc.
You are absolutely correct Anderson. I never would have known that the Panasonic wasn’t that sharp until I compared it side by side myself to another projector with newer technology. The reason I do AB test isn’t for marketing, it’s for me to see for myself is there an actual difference, or is it just marketing hype from manufacturers? I still haven’t made any final analysis but am having fun in the process. This is a new area for me as I’ve never owned anything beyond 1080p so just like my Journey to Dolby ATMOS, now I’m in my journey to 4K. Nothing wrong with enjoying the gear you have. I certainly have enjoyed my Panasonic for the past 4 years. Im just researching to see if its time to move forward with the next advancement in technology.
I just need a simple answer . When watching a 100-120 inch screen from a 7ft distance , will there be a significant difference between decent 1080p and 4k projector image quality...?
The answer is No. A Top of the line 1080p HDR Projector is in fact Better than most 4K Projectors. The Budget and Mid Range 4K Projectors are Not Better than a Top of the line 1080p Projector. Check this Projector out: Visit the BenQ Store 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 1,106Reviews BenQ HT2060 1080p HDR LED Home Theater Projector | DCI-P3 & Rec.709 Wide Color Gamut | 8.3ms 120hz | Vertical Lens Shift | 2D Keystone | 1.3x Zoom | S/PDIF | HDMI 2.0 | Built-in 5Wx2 Speakers | 3D
Speaking as someone who had a 1080 and went to a Epson 6040UB I can say this: 1) The bulb does make a huge difference. My 1080 felt like a completely different projector once i replaced the bulb 2) Faux 4k is definitely sharper than 1080. No question. But is it worth $1000 more than 1080....probably not. But it does look really good 3) The color output of the epson is super impressive imo. I watched the opening to speed racer on blu-ray to compare, and the epson's colors really popped compared to my 1080. 4) If you want super sharp without breaking the bank and don't care about 3d, consider some of the faux 4k DLP projectors. They are under $2000 and are supposedly even sharper than the epson. But you do lose 3d capability. 5) Finally make sure you have a good 4k Blu-Ray player. No point getting a super nice projector if you're going to use a $50 blu-ray player. :)
I know this is an old video. Hope I can still leave a comment. First of all thank u for the test. However I think showing the image 100% is not a thing for video. I do that with photo. For videos and movies scenes just pass by. Do u still see the difference? I don't see much difference in detail between my 10 yr old 1080p epson and 2020 4k epson. Biggest difference is in the black level. I'm wondering getting a 5030ub will be much better buy at this point
The rendering of the darker image on a 1080p projector using a 4K disc is more dependent on the individual transfer of the original film to the disk- they vary from platform (1080p) to 4K. There are even demonstrable differences in transfers of the same movie using 4K/bluray discs, even on the same platform as well as between platforms! For a same-platform example, the first bluray transfer from a few years ago of a movie (say Fifth Element) may have less brightness/saturation/poorer transfer quality than an anniversary newly-released disk of the same movie on the same format!. A 4K transfer of a movie may be made *assuming* the movie would be shown on HDR, not typically available on bluray. More effort will be made into the transfer quality of a film-to-4K transfer than maybe on a film-to-bluray.
That looks much better! Nice job capturing some good images to compare the 2 resolutions. And I had no idea about the 4K disc's not being as bright through 1080p projectors. Good to know for when I'm looking to upgrade things! Thanks! There definitely is a difference in resolution, but not enough for me to jump on the 4K train at the current price point. As I mentioned on your last video, I still feel it's better to spend money up front on speakers and amps since that tech doesn't change as quickly. Then upgrade the visual aspects of your space last as that tech changes at such a rapid pace. My Panny still has 2-3k hours left in it before I upgrade!
Thanks Life. I agree that speakers don’t change like electronics do. My Klipsch LaScalas were made in 1980 and are by far the best speakers I have ever owned.
I don't agree with your point. 1080P to 4K is a major upgrade, if you have the money now, just do it now. You are saving money not to upgrade at the same time you are losing the time to enjoy every moment of 4K. Time is priceless, I value it more than money.
@@Youthman nice. Would be great to do another review, been considering upgrading the Panasonic to a epson TW9400 , but stll unsure the upgrade is worth it
"The quality sucks" said no one ever watching their 1080p projector of any respectable make. Don't be fooled buy a 1080p full wireless full goodies lg or Epson for under $700 set it up in your house and if you don't like it take it back. You won't take it back. Even if it's better it's not worth two and three times the price
The Panasonic with 2000 hrs. on bulb is close to 50% to 60 % of its original brightness , it would have been a lot brighter with a new bulb and a much better comparison. Detail is better on Epson. I have the same Panasonic with a Black Diamond screen and love it, but will probably replace it with a JVC in 2023-24. Thanks for the video.
Am hesitating between the 5020UB 1080p(550$) Vs the 5040 UB 4k (1000$) as a second hand is the 5040 makes that huge difference or just noticed by someone has experience with the projectors? My budget is a bit tight so if the 5040 is a game changer i may try to get the unit. Thank you good man
Great job once again! I love how transparent you are, and willing to reflect on your own methodology. No one could question your integrity in these tests. One thing that I would find interesting is to see how the Epson picture compares to a 4K feed, a 1080P upscaled feed, and a native 1080P feed using the same system that you did here so that we could really see an absolute A-B test since it would all be presented on the same actual projector. Side note, I had never heard about the 4K downsampled to a 1080 causing a drop in light output but I learn a new thing every day. thanks for that! I know that you have to put some serious time into these videos, but I can tell you it shows and I love that someone with a zest for this A/V hobby has those skills and is willing to share them with us. Big shout out. Lastly, my house with theater should be built around the end of October! Can't wait to get it pieced back together for movie time! Klipsch 7.4.2, but the subs are 2 Rhythmik 15's (another set of subs that deserve a review I might add). Their servo subs are miraculously musical for the size.
RE: 4k content looking dark on 1080P - that makes sense. I'm involved with photography, and have experience with tone mapping (trying to change contrast range from a higher dynamic color profile to lower....such as 14bit RAW to 8 bit jpeg). Within camera RAW, you can see a brighter jpeg preview as it has an adjusted tone map that's embedded in the RAW file. With a compressed video file, ones that aren't intended for computer screens are now going to have 10bit per channel colorspace (instead of previous HD screens that are 8bit per channel), and won't have a tone-mapped stream (although Dolby Vision does for HDR standards). If you've been buying UHD discs as futureproof until you upgrade to 4K display, most come with a HD BD as well (that can have a new remaster). Conventional screens have been 8 stops worth of tonality (or 256 shades). HDR increases the brightness of white and adds smoother gradations in tonality (10bit is 1,024 shades). The Epson has HDR10 in its spec and says it outputs 10bit. I haven't seen if there are any players that offer some kind of tone mapping to adjust contrast of a 10bit space to go to 8bit. IMO, it's just time to upgrade to true 4K and HDR :-) Thank you for the reviews....I have hit on your channel as I am upgrading my theater system from Plasma HD TV and 7.1 surround to Atmos and 7.1.2 (or 4) for a smaller living room environment. I decided to take the current deal on the Denon X6400H (it's being discontinued for the 6500 which adds Enhanced IMAX...something I'm not sure if it's worth), and will be adding an A/V fan. I have enjoyed my current, but now old, Harman Kardon and have loved their "house" sound. But, unfortunately, I found out they're not in the receiver game anymore. Trying to go through sound forums, it also seems that current receivers don't have as much of a "brand sound", as you can adjust tonality with EQ settings. Since I don't need as large of a screen, I've just updated my HD TV to 4K OLED that supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. The image just jumps to life in 4K HDR (the opening of Planet Earth II is jaw dropping). The OLED I got was a LG C8, and I can compare movies that are either Dolby Vision or HDR10. It seems not as many projectors are supporting Dolby Vision (not sure if it's licensing or technical reasons). But it also looks like prices for 4K projectors are going down. LG has a nice laser 4K projector. Now that a 2nd generation has come out, you can get last years for under $3000: LG HU80KA 4K UHD Laser Smart TV Home Theater CineBeam Projector: www.amazon.com/dp/B07BVMSMRN/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_IIJnCb6PRB5J0
@@Youthman Thanks again for your vids, including the most recent of mean comments (reminds me of Jimmy Kimmel's celebrity mean tweets)! Not sure why one would be mean here, as there's no brand bashing and it's more productive to contribute ideas. My audio gear is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I know what to expect when unboxing the Denon now:) I have fairly high ceilings and my back surrounds are above ear level. So for now, I'm just thinking I need two heights in front (and the SVS Elevations seem like the best for my situation). But it's nice to know my receiver will handle full 11 channels if I do find I should get rear heights as well. Will continue to follow your vids.
@@Youthman Nothing but good vibes here! As such, I got a real surprise when picking up my shipments. Instead of the X6400H, the retailer sent me a X6500H! I've set it up and have been running it for about an hour (and my speakers aren't that sensitive). I noted that your vid and others have said how hot the 6400 ran. I've been placing my hand on the 6500, and it's staying way cooler then my old receiver. So the AV fan I'm getting will just be added security I guess. Also means it will easily handle rear heights (which I guess I'm not surprised that I'm thinking I'll get around too sooner then later).
Rendering daker has nothing to do with it beeing a 1080p projector. If you feed HDR content to an SD device this this will happen. You have to tonemap the hdr to proper sdr .... Also the epson is not really a fake 4k. You only get around 4 million pixels (1/2 of 4k). The epson is basically a fake fake 4k. It still provides a superb image. Just a thing to keep in mind.
quality of projector lens also makes a difference. I suspect that the lenses fitted on budget Faux 4K projectors these days are not up to the task of showing it in all its glory
Hi Youthman, I just stumbled on your video, I liked it. I just felt it was an unfair comparison, If you had played a 1080p Blu-ray through the 1080p projector and the 4K Blu-ray through the 4K projector. You might have had a different result, because the 1080p projector has to dumb down the 4K picture 1080p, maybe that is why the 1080p projector was less sharp, just a thought.
Thanks for the hard work with this comparison video! I think you did a great job with what you have. I can tell a huge difference in detail with the 4K Enhancement. It makes me want to upgrade, but it probably would not help me because I mainly use it for College Basketball which is still 720 and 1080 in my area. Great video!
I'm surprised how much better the 4k looks considering this video is uploaded/shot? in 1080p. So yeah it looks a lot better on the epson even withy a 1080p video on a non 4k (mine) screen.
This is a really old video. During the time that I owned it, I never had any power issues. Initially consumers did have those issues but I believe Epson Resolved those issues
Hey, thanks for taking our comments in consideration for these videos. This was night and day difference compared to the last video. You can see the extra detail for sure with the Epson except with a slight over sharpening ringing.(still looks great) The panasonic looks way better now with color and brightness. Panasonic had always been a little soft to eliminate the screen door effect of LCD projectors. But, at the same time(in motion), they have a great film like quality. If I was at the end of bulb life in the panasonic, I would probably upgrade. Otherwise, I would still enjoy the next year or so and get whatever is new at that time.(also HDMI 2.1 specs) Thanks again for taking the time to show a better comparison.
Thank you Eric. I read and reply to every comment and definitely value the advice and suggestions from this awesome community. Thanks for being a part of it.
I think there is a difference between 1080p and 4k from everything I have seen but it's not as wide a gap as that between SD and HD. The Panasonic was a fantastic projector in its time while the Epson is a budget pixel shifter. I'm sure a true 4K projector like the Sony would have resulted in bigger visual differences. Good catch on the problems of the aperture on your camera btw.
Thanks for the helpful video. Epson 4k enhancement looks nice. I was thinking about a 1080p or a pixel shifting 4k. I'll go with the 4k after watching this.
i bought a jvc 700r with e-shift (none hdr) a few years back and the picture is simply amazing. when you enable the 4k feature, everything is darker including dvds. but it makes a good quality dvd (beyond the valley of the dolls) look like blu-ray, the images are so film-like and organic..it's insane. i bought the panasonic ae 8000 at the same time and it's a great projector as well, it's much brighter than the jvc. i'm also still rockin my very first proj. i bought in '05, (yeah, 3 proj's sittin on top of a portable closet aligned to the screen) the panny ae 1000 with 500hrs on the original 2000hr bulb.
Sorry Tester, TH-cam flagged your comment as SPAM for some reason. Just now seeing it. 3 Projectors providing a single image...nice. I've seen churches do that to get more resolution.
lol, they probably thought i was trying to sell you a projector. sorry for the misunderstanding about how i use the 3 projectors but i don't use them at the same time, i used the 8000 this weekend and next weekend i'm using the jvc. my reason for buying multiple proj's is bulb preservation.
i believe in order for that to work all proj's would have to be identical or have the same "quality" resolution as the jvc. pretty sure with my ae 1000 in the mix the picture would look horrendous lol.
Yeah I was wondering how you could use three entirely different projectors. The churches that I know have two identical projectors stacked and aligned together.
I appreciate the second try at this. I wish you would have shown the regular Blu-ray on the Epson also so we could judge for ourselves what differences were due to the master vs the projector, but then since it doesn't seem that these are both calibrated, I'm not sure it really matters. I see the additional grain in the skin in the 4K, but it doesn't look natural to me. The brightness shift is due to HDR. Your player may allow you to watch in Rec709, DCI-P3, or BT2020 so may want to make an adjustment. You need more lumens as color space increases to properly display the images, but it's not just lumens. No home projector can properly display BT2020 yet, and probably not even 100% DCI-P3 though I think the laser projectors are coming closer. You need to calibrate for your source to get the most out of the format with the equipment you have. I commend your effort in spite of the shortcomings, there are so many variables that is difficult to make quality objective reviews.
Thanks David. You definitely are far more knowledgeable than I am in the area of projectors. That is one area I haven’t spent much time learning. Definitely have been learning a lot now that I’m moving towards 4K. I love learning from others such as yourself. Thank you for your contribution to this community.
Hey Youthman, this is a much better comparison video than the last one. I find when I play 4K disks on my 1080p Sony VPL-HW40ES that the image is darker as well and the blacks get crushed. Which I find quite annoying. So now I only watch the Blu-ray version until I upgrade my projector. Are you going to test any other projectors to do a more apples-to-apples comparison?
Would you record a close up, slow motion video with the faux 4k projector so we can see the pixel shift in action. Can you do this for both a progressive and interlaced media file.
The purpose is to see how good (or close) a job a faux 4k projector does at generating a true 4k image. By shifting the image half a pixel horizontally and half a pixel vertically this will create an overlapping effect which I suspect will generate a slightly blury image, granted the diagonal lines will appear sharper (ie smaller stair steps), but I think overall the image will look softer and lose some detail that would otherwise be seen in a true 4k display. For example, a 1080p projector displaying 1080i vs 1080p. Both images have the same sharpness and level of detail up close even though the 1080i is actually two 540p signals alternating every other line, but the progressive video will really only look better during super fast moving scenes, which at slow motion you can see is due to the interlaced image alternating scenes that are quickly becoming very different from the previous one. Sometimes the human eye recognizes this in real time by seeing horizontal lines flash across the screen and other times our eyes just see a blury image. Before I buy one of these projectors and get mad at the marketing departments for calling these faux 4k projectors "4k enhanced" when in fact they're really 2k enhanced (ie two 1080p signals overlapping diagonally each other which I would prefer be marketed as 2160o - the 'o' is for overlapping opposed to true 4k which is 2160p), I really want to see up close how they perform. Another purpose would be show how prevailent screen door effect (SDE) is on a faux 4k. Because of the overlapping, I'm going to guess there's no visible SDE.
Great video. I just sent a 4k UHD60 projector back after a couple of weeks. I just did not see a big enough difference over my epson 2150. I will say that watching your video the differences look more apparent , maybe my sony 4k player is not as good as oppo...
I no longer have either projector. I have since upgraded to a JVC DLA-NX7 which is a huge improvement over both of them in contrast, detail, black levels and natural looking skin tones.
Thanks for your honesty of the bat that Epson are possibly having a bias on the content. That said you seem fair and honest, I have the (edit) Nikon D7200 so want to ask you if you see any sort of image jumping when you shoot? it doesn't happen on my old D90 but does with my 7200 which is odd. I didn't buy it 2nd hand and it's never been dropped. My goto lense is the sigma 18-35 ( a heavy unit but all reviews were outperforming cannon and Nikon lenses) F1,8 is great for those party shots low light with no flash and family photos....but the yellow tinge is annoying. You probably know what I am doing wrong. I am used to film (old school) but realise there are chip makers and settings that can tweak an image beyond what a camera SHOULD be really good at is capturing what you actually see with eyes and reproducing it. As for projectors, is you tube pushing me towards Epson? not sure yet. I am looking to replace my dead 12year old Sanyo PLVZ 700 that I can't fault and can't fix ( I thing a PSU problem since a new bulb+complete clean+all fans working=no light and shut down being a Power supply problem. I don't watch 4K content but would like the option I suppose if I am buying a new projector..... Sorry for the long post, any feedback appreciated!
I would like to see you make a video comparing a 1080P disc with 4K Enhancement on and off. I've read two different reviews where they prefer the Enhancement feature to be off when watching 1080P discs.
By the time i am ready for that Epson 4K enhancement projector - i'm pretty sure the prices would be coming down :) Just hoping to get a bonus at the end of the year HAHA!
wow, what a difference from a 4K disc vs 1080p disc. I remember while back reading about 4K, if the hardware didn't have HDR then the image will be darker.
At the bottom of the 4k box it says (from amazon) HDR10 witch uses the Rec 2020 color space (shifting the colors a little), and the curve of SMPTE ST 2084 (making the normal scenes darker), It also uses 10 bits per color channel vs the normal 8 Bits. It Also seems the Panasonic does not support HDR10 but the Epson does. Neither projectors are true 4k, but are native 1080p.
hey man whats the brightness difference between ae 8000 and epson? i owned epson but returned it. it had good 3d brightness, i wanted a cheap 3d pj was considering the panny.
@@Youthman I can get one cheap second hand for $600. I'm just interested in 3D as I watch 2D stuff on my 77 LG OLEd so I'm stuck for which PJ to get for 3D :(
Excellent job and very easy to follow along without having to be too technical. I own the 5040UB and am very pleased with it, wish this video would have been around at the time I purchased it (used for $1100), although it would have just solidified my instinct to purchase. Again, thanks, looking forward to more content. Perhaps going over 'common settings' to use in a home theater for both bulb life conservation or best overall picture.
He man ... You bought you pj for $1100 Bucks??? Could you tell me how did you get that price ? 🤯🤯🤯 Been doing some research before pull the trigger but hell, that is a great price!!!
Yes ...I don’t think anyone is that lucky to get it brand new 🍀 Big question is where and how to get that PJ for 1200 or less... that would be fantastic!!! And please don’t let us wait too much for the first review of the BEAST 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Hope everyone at home is great !
Hi Michael! Big fan here. Do you think getting a Panasonic PT AE8000 nowadays is worth it? I’m thinking of buying one being a bit disappointed with lower end model. Do you think older flagships are worth it?
@@Youthman Thanks for the answer. I went for it. Man, what a great unit. Although it lacks modern features, it makes up with picture quality. When it came out I think people were blown away. Just wanted to share my thought. Merry Christmas! I’m waiting for new videos!
@@unalz4382 I did not. Still thinking if it’s worth it. Type in alr in Ali search, you’ll find plenty. Be prepared to be let down, people don’t recommend them
Hello Youthman, and thank you very much for the new video, which is very clear your explanation about the Panny blur in the previous video, now it is more fair. Definitely the Epson will see more details as it is a 4K Projector and will have higher resolution, however at a distance of 1.3D; D = Diagonal of the screen, I'm not sure that this can be seen, by the capacity of the human eye, perhaps for a photo presentation yes, but not in a movie in motion. However I still have a question about the brightness, could you tell us what function each projector is doing the comparison, cinema1, cinema 2, sports, games, etc. because in this video I have seen the Panasonic very bright. Finally, I hope your videos are as sincere as possible because the fact that Epson sponsors your videos may lead you to suspect that there is a certain arrangement. Greetings, and thanks for the video.
Thanks Oscar. My reputation and integrity mean more to me than any Brand Deal so in every review I make, I do my very best to be as objective as I can and share the good and the bad, whether the video is sponsored or not. At no point has any manufacturer I have ever reviewed asked for anything. They are willing to send their products and give us Content Creator’s free reign to make whatever videos we want. We are not required to say positive things. If a product is garbage, I will gladly say so. I sit 9’ from a 150” screen so I am under the 1.3 “recommendation”. At some point, I will likely dismount the projector and put it side by side from the Epson so that they are equal distance from the screen. That way I can shine them both on the screen at the same time and compare them side by side. I just looked and the Panasonic is in “Normal” Picture Mode. The Epson is in “Bright Cinema”. The Bright Cinema is slightly brighter than the “Normal Mode”. Dynamic Mode is ridiculous and unnatural looking. Colors are over saturated.
Excellent Youthman, is the answer I expected, I consider myself a lover of home cinema as you are my passion and your videos are truly inspiring and very interesting. Go ahead and be aware of your publications. On the brightness of the Panny, I think it would have been more appropriate to compare it in the Cinema 2 mode, at least so I use it and the colors look great. Greetings and thanks for your answers. By the way, I´m from Lima Perú, and I Speak Spanish, and to write you I use the google translator, so please excuse me if something does not sound good.
There is I think something to be said about the extremely wide colour gamut in 4k & the wider dynamic range achieved by it & played back through 1080 is probably darker because a lot of the colours would be out of gamut possibly?.
Hello Youthman, very well done comparison. I do not know if I would have been brave enough to put a 4k disc into a blu ray player. But as Kendall stated a true 4k projector will produce a larger difference in detail vs a shifter. The difference will be even greater the more model numbers you go up Sony's projector product line. If you can get a Optoma projector to compare with the Epson, Viewers would enjoy that comparison as well. Good Luck. PM
Hey Youthman- Great reviews as usual. I'm about to buy a projector. So do you think paying $2300 is worth the money for the 4Ke over a $700 1080p? I'm debating whether to buy 4Ke now - or a 1080p now and buy a true 4k in a few years when the tech gets better and prices come down.
Another great video, and once again a clear win for the Epson. On a side note, for another video topic, how about showing the lens memory and shifting of the Epson and explain why one might want to buy a projector with these features. I see how that would be useful for people with 2.35:1 screens playing cinemascope and 16:9 content, but is it needed if you have a 16:9 screen and don't mind the upper and lower black bars when playing 2.35:1 content?
I do plan on making a video on the lens memory as this is a necessity for my 2.35:1 setup. Problem is in order to get the Epson to completely fill my 150” screen, I would need to swap it with my Panasonic Projector as I cannot move it back far enough inside my room. It has to be mounted in the closet outside the room.
I just have the epson 1060 projector 1080p. But the 4k faux is better but it all depends on if someone is willing to spend the money to upgrade. I plan on waitting a couple yrs. But nice video
Nice video Youthman...I am looking to upgrade my Panny 8000 to a JVC...but true 4k has yet to drop in price...This has me thinking about last year's flagship models with e shift technology as well.
Great video Youthman. What is the cost difference? I remember when we went through the evolution from 720 to 1080I and 1080P. This was when there was very limited cable/ satellite content that was true 1080,,. At the time, MOST people could not tell the difference between 720 and 1080. Everyone was blown away by 720 , it took a number of hours to be able to walk into a room and be able to tell if it was 720 or 1080, football games was the easiest (the blades of grass). Why are we looking at 4K? Are the prices dropping because they are going to start a push on 8K?
Sony’s VPL-VW285ES is $5000 and they have several other models up to that go all the way up to $60,000. Native 4K won’t start coming down in prices until other manufacturers begin making them and competition drives the price down
Looks like an unsharp mask to me. If I could notice it while watching (rather than zooming in in photoshop) I would hate it. I'd rather have a 1080 projector or a true 4k projector than a 1080 that is performing what is basically just a digital sharpening process. Of course, all of our opinions from watching this are pretty meaningless, since by this point, we're talking about a 4k image, downscaled to 1080, then sharpened (or not), and projected at 1080, then captured with a digital sensor, then compressed, and most likely re-encoded by TH-cam, and finally, decoded and displayed on our screen at variable resolutions. lol The only way to know which looks better is to sit there in front of the screen and make the decision. XD
Great demo again! Man I love the extra detail of the 4k picture. I have a 4k flat panel I Just love. If you can can get a hold of a 4k disc of Ghost In The Shell, that movie looks awesome!
Hey youthman Could you post the images you took. I would like to get a bit of a better look when if it's been a few years. I'm thinking if picking up the newer 5050ub hopefully very soon
Yo what's up Youthman? Great video bro! If you haven't already you should do a youtube search of TV Specialists dba TVS Pro They have some good projector comparison videos that you might find interesting. Hopefully this helps you out a little. Keep up the great work! Your doing a great job.
Another great video Youthman ! Yes it is worth the upgrade as I had A Panasonic 8000 and upgrade to WT 9400 Epson and the picture is awesome I could see the picsels on the Panasonic. However saying that the Panasonic was a great projector for its time
People with home theatres will upgrade as the technology improves and a decent number of 4K projectors are available at a reasonable price point. There a quite a few to choose from now at 1500 bucks or less, not that far away from what a decent 1080P projector cost a few years ago.
Higher Resolution makes more of a difference the larger your screen is and the closer you sit. A 1080p and 4K will look similar if you are 15’ away from say a 100” screen. 105” at 9’ is where I’m at. I say bring on the pixels!
@@cbcdesign001 Alot of the newer lower priced 4k projectors are DLP models and if your eyes are sensitive to light trails in dark scenes as mine are a 3LCD machine is easier on the eyes. I have owned both and much prefer the LCD,but they are usually more expensive. My current machine is a Panasonic 8000 and I love it! Crisp clear picture, great color, excellent blacks, not trading soon.
I love how much detail you explain and yet people just can't stop finding something negative about how hard you try explaining every aspect you can. Great work. You really helped me in my situation. Thank you.
These pixel shifters are quite a step up from their 1080p counterparts and are coming down in price nicely now too. I just replaced a BenQ W1400 with an Optoma UHD51 and the picture quality is in a different league. I considered the Epsom but didn't have the necessary throw for it.
I definitely like what I see with the Epson. Even though my Panasonic has 2000hrs on the bulb, the image looks better than I remember the Panasonic looking with a new bulb.
Unfortunately I have not heard either of those models. Typically a ported sub sub will provide more output so if you want more “boom boom” my vote would be the Klipsch. If you want a sub that digs deeper, I would go with the SVS
I just want to add that I would not recommend the 12-Sw since the retail price for it is $450 when it’s not on sale. I only have one pb-1000 and it’s much better than the 2 klipsch 12-Sw that I had. The pb-1000 is also just $50 more than the 12-Sw before tax.
Appreciate you sharing your experience. Interesting that a single sealed performs better than dual ported subs. Just curious what you feel the SVS does better? Is it cleaner, tighter, deeper? I’m guessing it does not have as much output, especially if you are comparing a single sealed to dual ported subs.
Youthman I’m not sure if this is the right term but my svs pb-1000 hits HARDER and cleaner than the 2 klipsch 12-sw’s. It also plays notes that the 12-sw just could not reproduce. I have owned 3 subs so far. My first one was the Sony SA-CS9 followed by the klipsch followed by the svs. I have since learned that it is worth it to spend the money on a good subwoofer. I still have about 28 days left with the svs and then I’m thinking about trying the sb-2000 since I haven’t heard the sealed versions in my home yet. I’ve heard them in the magnolia section of Best Buy and they sound fantastic. I’m eventually going to upgrade to either the pb-4000 or pb-16 ultra. Anyway you have some awesome videos and I’ve learned a decent amount from channels like yours. I just want to say thank you. I rarely comment but I’m always watching.
Youthman haha, yeah. Love ur videos... I am looking to buy new front speakers, maximum 3300 usd. The svs ultra towers has gotten great reviews from many people.. I am watching mostly action/adventure movies. Planning to get buy 7.2.4 in the future. Have now marantz 6006 + primare A30.7. Planning to get a real pre-amp also, Arnhem, marantz or emotiva. So i should i get the svs ultra towers or something else?
Andreas, the SVS Ultra Towers with Ultra Center sound fantastic and are at a very nice price point. Check out my review here - th-cam.com/video/3AyZ6SJlfNo/w-d-xo.html
I felt that the Epson looked to have more detail, so I would say it's a step up and worth the purchase. I personally wouldn't do an in between step tho and I'd wait for a true 4k projector when the prices come down if I was in the market for that.
Yeah that’s always the debate. My Panasonic was made in 2012 so that’s getting old in technology years. My thought is this might be able to hold me over until 4K gets below the $3000 price point which might be another 4-5 years. By then, it will be time to upgrade again. 😀
Great video Youthman ! How are the black levels on the epson? When I upgraded my 1080p epson to a JVC X770 one of the things I noticed was much better black levels. I think 4k makes a big difference over 1080p even when it is not real 4k !!
Youthman I did a comparison of the JVC X 5900 with the Native 4k projector Sony VW 260 at a trader, no one could see a difference in sharpness. After that I picked the JVC as it provided the better and brighter picture.
I think technically it is 4Ke for "enhanced" . It looks like they are very open about it in their advertising. One major advantage is to be able to purchase 4K DVDs now, play them with enhanced quality with a projector, and wait for the native 4K projectors to drop in price
Hi, Same with me :) I have same Panasonic and I'm thinking about Epson 5040 - there is a visible difference, when they are played side by side, but if you play only Panasonic - it's still very good :) So I think, instead of paying 2k $ for upgrade, I will spend 150$ for proper calibration, and I think I will be fine with it for few more years :) Thx, for that video !
Yes, that is on my list. That is one area the Panasonic will excel in as it switches automatically based on the source it sees and it does so very smoothly and quickly. From a demo I’ve seen online, I wasn’t impressed with how Epson changes but will see after I get it swapped with the Panny.
Darker, No lens memory and almost $2000 more but if you do not need the lens memory it is the better Projector I agree. The OP does poor mans 2.35:1 like I do. An even better choice if you do not need lens memory or 3D is the Optoma UHD65 it's quality is Very close to the Sony. But if money is no object Sony makes $25,000 Projectors that do EVERYTHING and are super bright and you can stack them for Super ridiculous brightness
I just upgraded from an Epson 1080p to their new 10500 laser 4K enhancement projector. The laser was $8,000 but the picture quality is much better. And the projector is basically instant on and off, and the laser will last about 30,000 hours. To get the most out of any 4K enhancement projector, you also need a good 4K receiver and screen.
Great video! I have the Epson 5040 and it is a great projector. Very clear image. I have a 150” screen. Can you make a video on the calibration for the 5040? Love the videos by the way youthman!!
You can get them cheap online now go on eBay he probably can find one pretty cheap they are great mix 4K stuff look even more insane than it already does
I've got a Darbee with my JVC RS55 and the Jvc alone is very good with the eshift, but it become great with the Darbee, makes a world of difference with great contents , no need for UHD, not enouph difference even on 120"
No, I don’t think it’s necessary to shoot in 4K when I’m talking about 4K. Even at 1080p you can see the differences. Other reasons I don’t shoot in 4K is much larger file sizes ( I already have to upgrade my 1TB Hard Drive as its constantly full and have to keep deleting old video files, takes longer to export and the vast majority of people are watching TH-cam from their phones
@@Youthman I already have 😁 I'm currently looking are the UHD50, but the pricing for the 65 has dropped. So trying to get as many reviews of each. Especially as the Epson isn't available here.
Because the 6040 wasn’t out yet and I didn’t want to wait that long to upgrade. In another 3-4 years when native 4K come down in price, I’ll upgrade to that. The 5040 provides a fantastic image and was an upgrade over my Panasonic AE8000u. I would have stayed with Panasonic but they stopped making home theater projectors.
I believe they will be in the new 7.2.4 Reference Premiere System they are sending me to review in September. I emailed them today to see what model numbers they are sending
"Nikons aren't known for reproducing accurate skin tone colors" False, they're some of the best. Now getting proper WB off of a projected image is going to be challenging and you'll quickly see how poor TVs and Projectors are at reproducing it
I’ve always owned several Nikon cameras over the years and without correcting white balance in post, in general, Canon cameras typically have better skin tones straight from the camera.
Dunno
Yes! HDR and WCG makes more difference than resolution.
@@garyharper2943Excuse me 1080p Projectors also have HDR.
The answer is No. A Top of the line 1080p HDR Projector is in fact Better than most 4K Projectors.
The Budget and Mid Range 4K Projectors are Not Better than a Top of the line 1080p Projector.

Speaking as someone who had a 1080 and went to a Epson 6040UB I can say this:
1) The bulb does make a huge difference. My 1080 felt like a completely different projector once i replaced the bulb
2) Faux 4k is definitely sharper than 1080. No question. But is it worth $1000 more than 1080....probably not. But it does look really good
3) The color output of the epson is super impressive imo.
Great advice and suggestions Jason.
They are very similar i don't know if the4k gives the same extra money as a value
I agree I see more difference in better optics, contrast and black levels than 1080p vs 4K e-shift
I will be upgrading to a JVC DLA-NX5 sometime in January.
@@Youthman nice. Would be great to do another review, been considering upgrading the Panasonic to a epson TW9400 , but stll unsure the upgrade is worth it
The only projector I have currently is the NX7. Currently I do not have any lined up to review
IMO, it's just time to upgrade to true 4K and HDR :-)
Thank you for the reviews....I have hit on your channel as I am upgrading my theater system from Plasma HD TV and 7.1 surround to Atmos and 7.1.2 (or 4) for a smaller living room environment. Now that a 2nd generation has come out, you can get last years for under $3000:

Yeah some people are just negative. It’s in their nature. I personally feel sorry for them. I’m an optimist.
Fake fake it is then 😂
quality of projector lens also makes a difference.
That indeed might make for a good test. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks schlagboy
I'm surprised how much better the 4k looks considering this video is uploaded/shot? in 1080p. So yeah it looks a lot better on the epson even withy a 1080p video on a non 4k (mine) screen.
Thanks. Yes I shoot with a Nikon D7100 which is a 1080p DSLR
I was surprised too at how much more detail the Epson has.

awesome man thanks a lot :)
I see the reviewers complained power supply issues in this unit do you experience any problems with the power
This is a really old video. During the time that I owned it, I never had any power issues. Initially consumers did have those issues but I believe Epson Resolved those issues
What was the specific camera lens and what was the aperture and shutter speed used?
Epson has the super resolution feature. I have it set on 5 and the detail is awesome!
I’ll have to check to see what setting it is at
Hey, thanks for taking our comments in consideration for these videos.
Thanks Kendall. I believe it might be 4-5 years before we see native 4K below $3000
Right nobody wants to wait that long so 4k shifter it is. Unless somebody has one for sell in dark alley somewhere. 😂😂😂
😂😂😂. Don’t think I will be checking dark alleys for one
Haha too funny. Cool idea on rotating projectors. I thought you were using them all at once
i believe in order for that to work all proj's would have to be identical or have the same "quality" resolution as the jvc. pretty sure with my ae 1000 in the mix the picture would look horrendous lol.
Yeah I was wondering how you could use three entirely different projectors. The churches that I know have two identical projectors stacked and aligned together.
Yes. 4K is worth it. Especially if you are using physical media on the right display.
Looking forward to when Native 4K projectors are in the sub $3000 price point.
Yes! I can see a huge benefit in clarity watching 4k Blu Rays on my LG OLED tv.
Dude it’s almost scary how real the 5040 looks
This video started well but for speaking over music is Dreadful.
This is a really old video. I have learned a lot since then
Hey Youthman, this is a much better comparison video than the last one.
Thanks Darryl. I have reached out to Sony and JVC
I'd love to see this, I hope they respond!
Me too.
It’s difficult to find the PR or Marketing Contact for larger companies.
If you lived in Canada, I'd be able to help you on Sony contacts...not much I can do in Florida though.
The Epson is definitely sharper and warmer but to me neither had better detail than the other
Good information 😀🙂👏👏👏👏👍👍 how does the 3d look on the epson compared to the Panasonic?
Thanks Will. I have never used 3D. Guess with me wearing glasses, I just never had an interest in it.
Would you record a close up, slow motion video with the faux 4k projector so we can see the pixel shift in action. Can you do this for both a progressive and interlaced media file.
To clarify, close enough so we can see the individual pixels.
Hi super, I’m waiting to install the Epson before doing any more testing on it. Have a lot of speakers to review as well.
I’m not sure what purpose this would serve
I gotcha now. Thx for the clarification
I like to get a 4K Projector when their price drop by 50% BUT Who knows when and will they release in Australia too ?!
I love all of your videos. Very educational & They have inspired me in my personal home theater.
Thank you Dustin. That’s exactly what I hope this Channel provides
All the 1080P fanboys are preparing their pitchforks and waiting on your doorstep Youthman! LOL
I ain’t scared haha
Great video. I just sent a 4k UHD60 projector back after a couple of weeks. I just did not see a big enough difference over my epson 2150. I will say that watching your video the differences look more apparent , maybe my sony 4k player is not as good as oppo...
wtf this looks insane! the epson looks BEAUTIFUL. are the colours really THAT much better? :) could do u ever do a video side by side?
I haven’t looked into the Epson Menu yet. Is there an option to turn off the 4K Enhancement?
By the time i am ready for that Epson 4K enhancement projector - i'm pretty sure the prices would be coming down :) Just hoping to get a bonus at the end of the year HAHA!
As time goes by, all electronics will get cheaper. That’s a great thing for consumers
Very interesting video! But I'm curious, who else clicked on this because of the Scarlett Johansson thumbnail? Lol!
wow, what a difference from a 4K disc vs 1080p disc. I remember while back reading about 4K, if the hardware didn't have HDR then the image will be darker.
Gotcha. Maybe that’s why the Panny is a bit darker when viewing 4K content. Thx for sharing!
Correct, both are 1080p projectors. Native 4K are above what I’m willing to spend for a projector. I have always kept it around 3000 or below
hey man whats the brightness difference between ae 8000 and epson? i owned epson but returned it. it had good 3d brightness, i wanted a cheap 3d pj was considering the panny.
No reason to consider Panasonic. They stopped making home theater projectors
@@Youthman I can get one cheap second hand for $600. I'm just interested in 3D as I watch 2D stuff on my 77 LG OLEd so I'm stuck for which PJ to get for 3D :(
Gotcha. I didn’t use mine for 3D.
@@aaronaaron1611 Did you buy?
someone really likes to hear themselves talk.....
You got me. I have this video set on repeat when I sleep at night. Have a great week.
Great point on the difference between 4K and Blu-ray. I actually have calibration settings for both saved on my ae4000.👍🏾
Been doing some research before pull the trigger but hell, that is a great price!!!
He mentioned he found it used.
Yes ...I don’t think anyone is that lucky to get it brand new 🍀
Big question is where and how to get that PJ for 1200 or less... that would be fantastic!!!
And please don’t let us wait too much for the first review of the BEAST 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Hope everyone at home is great !
I have mine listed on my Patreon for $1100.
Youthman holy molly ... who I have to 😜 🔫 to get it asap... link it .. and I’ll brake the piggy bank this minute.. no joke ...
And you must sign it
Hi Michael! Big fan here. Do you think getting a Panasonic PT AE8000 nowadays is worth it? I’m thinking of buying one being a bit disappointed with lower end model. Do you think older flagships are worth it?
It’s difficult to recommend any older technology as tech changes so rapidly. Would be difficult to repair if it has issues
@@Youthman Thanks for the answer. I went for it. Man, what a great unit. Although it lacks modern features, it makes up with picture quality. When it came out I think people were blown away. Just wanted to share my thought. Merry Christmas! I’m waiting for new videos!
Hi Slawek.
I'm thinking of buying it too. What price did you get it? Are you satisfied?
@@unalz4382 I did not. Still thinking if it’s worth it. Type in alr in Ali search, you’ll find plenty. Be prepared to be let down, people don’t recommend them
@@SawekWyup Is there a product that caught your eye in your research? in this price range.
Thanks Oscar. Awesome to have you in the Youthman Community!
I’ll look at the Cinema 2 on the Panny to see how it looks. Thanks for the suggestion
There is I think something to be said about the extremely wide colour gamut in 4k & the wider dynamic range achieved by it & played back through 1080 is probably darker because a lot of the colours would be out of gamut possibly?.
Really excellent follow up to the last comparison. The Epson clearly gives the better image. Please stop asking me to smash that like button though ;)
Haha you know you like to smash it. 😀. Thanks!
Would be great if you compared wither Panasonic with the TW9400 Please
Hello Youthman, very well done comparison. I do not know if I would have been brave enough to put a 4k disc into a blu ray player. But as Kendall stated a true 4k projector will produce a larger difference in detail vs a shifter. The difference will be even greater the more model numbers you go up Sony's projector product line. If you can get a Optoma projector to compare with the Epson, Viewers would enjoy that comparison as well.
Good Luck.
PM
Thanks Paul. Check out That Home Theater Dudes channel. He recently compared the Epson to a Optoma.
I thing wrong with waiting. Just means newer and better technology will come along. Older technology will go down in price as a result
@@Youthman so true. There is always newer and butter. Lol
Always something bigger / better on the horizon
Now that was funny 😂
I have the Epson 1060 too. It's great!
Of course, all of our opinions from watching this are pretty meaningless, since by this point, we're talking about a 4k image, downscaled to 1080, then sharpened (or not), and projected at 1080, then captured with a digital sensor, then compressed, and most likely re-encoded by TH-cam, and finally, decoded and displayed on our screen at variable resolutions. lol
The only way to know which looks better is to sit there in front of the screen and make the decision. XD
All valid points. 👍
hey man
which one to chose
jvc x700r 900$ vs pasasonic ae8000 Panasonic is 800$ both are 700 hours use

Great demo again! Man I love the extra detail of the 4k picture. I have a 4k flat panel I Just love. If you can can get a hold of a 4k disc of Ghost In The Shell, that movie looks awesome!
Thanks. I’m trying to see if I can get in touch with Sony to try out their Native 4K projector.
Also would love to check out JVC eShift Projector too
Hey youthman Could you post the images you took. I would like to get a bit of a better look when if it's been a few years.

Thanks Bobby, I’ll have to check them out
Another great video Youthman ! Yes it is worth the upgrade as I had A Panasonic 8000 and upgrade to WT 9400 Epson and the picture is awesome I could see the picsels on the Panasonic. However saying that the Panasonic was a great projector for its time
I agree, the 8000 was a great projector.
Those 4k details may be useful for researchers but for common folks 1080p is good enough.
Too bad Panasonic stopped making home theater projectors
Could you do a test with Epson with 4k upscale of a regular Blu-ray vs a 4k Blu-ray?
Thanks for the suggestion Ron. Would be a good test to try.
Ditch 1080p asap youth. 4K Is a must on our large screens. "Common do It, do It noooooooowww". 👍🏽😁
Haahaha yeah but you have true 4K. $6000 for a 4K projector is 3X the cost of the Epson.

I appreciate the kind words Bryan. The reality it’s the Internet and you will never please everyone. Thanks for watching
he didn't answer the question in the title.
I saw the water in her eyes in 4k and the eyelashes great detail
These pixel shifters are quite a step up from their 1080p counterparts and are coming down in price nicely now too. I just replaced a BenQ W1400 with an Optoma UHD51 and the picture quality is in a different league. I considered the Epsom but didn't have the necessary throw for it.
I definitely like what I see with the Epson. Even though my Panasonic has 2000hrs on the bulb, the image looks better than I remember the Panasonic looking with a new bulb.
which is the best boom boom subwoofer SVS SB-1000 or Klipsch R-12SW 12-Inch I'm totally confused please help to find the best one
albin joseph go for the svs. I owned 2 klipsch 12sw’s and returned them for an svs.

Very helpfull video. Can you do same with Sony udp 800? How is it as a player compare to oppo?
I do not have a Sony in for review but do have the 700 that Techno Dad let me borrow
@@Youthman Allmost the same. I think 700 is smaller box. What is yor oppinion abouth native 4k and enhanced 4k? The price is, but the quality?
I have yet to see a 4K projector. I believe Sony is the only one currently with a native 4K and it’s way on up there in price.
Great video Youthman ! How are the black levels on the epson? When I upgraded my 1080p epson to a JVC X770 one of the things I noticed was much better black levels. I think 4k makes a big difference over 1080p even when it is not real 4k !!
JVC has always been known for amazing black levels. The Epson has an Iris that is supposed to help provide very deep blacks. I’ll have to check it out
I really liked my epson 9700ub
Is the JVC a DLP projector? If so, most DLP machines produce deeper blacks than 3 LCD machines.
I will be upgrading my Epson 5040UB to the JVC DLA-NX5 whit utilizes 3 D-ILA DLP chips.
Sorry but the title should be "Is faux 4k worth it?" and of all the pixel shifting technology espon is the less sharp then all the cheap faux 4k DLP.
Thanks, I just edited the title
What other projectors have you compared the 5040 to?
Youthman I did a comparison of the JVC X 5900 with the Native 4k projector Sony VW 260 at a trader, no one could see a difference in sharpness. After that I picked the JVC as it provided the better and brighter picture.
JVC have always been known for exceptional black levels and contrast. This weekend I reached out to JVC to see if I can get one in for review.
I think technically it is 4Ke for "enhanced" . It looks like they are very open about it in their advertising. One major advantage is to be able to purchase 4K DVDs now, play them with enhanced quality with a projector, and wait for the native 4K projectors to drop in price
You should make a comparison of UHD60 and 5040UB....that's more fair.
Very possibly so but the Panasonic is mine and Epson sent me their 5040UB to review so I’m comparing it to what I have available.
Awesome. I have a this exact panasonic, love it, thou wanting a 4k enhanced upgrade, but unsure if its a big enough gain vs cost
@@marcinkopacz922 yeah in stll considering the upgrade...
The 5040 has since been replaced with a newer model.
Could you make a comparison video about the lens memory function?
Yes, that is on my list. That is one area the Panasonic will excel in as it switches automatically based on the source it sees and it does so very smoothly and quickly. From a demo I’ve seen online, I wasn’t impressed with how Epson changes but will see after I get it swapped with the Panny.
What’s the mounting distance from projector to screen
Panasonic is 16’ from Screen
Epson is 12.5’ since it is not mounted but is sitting on my rear seats
Get the Sony VPL-VW285ES that’s a Native 4K Projector with HDR and 3D Included it was $5,000 but it’s only $4,000 but it’s so Worth it. 😁👌🎥
Unfortunately it’s twice the cost so I’ll wait a few years when they get around $2500
Ok so on the 4k I saw poor's on Scarlett's cheek compare to the blu ray which was a bit soft but yes great capture.
Ah you meant pores lol.
Awesome experiment. Very cool idea.
Thanks body
My 5 year old daughter says she thinks the Epson is better!
She’s got a good eye Tom. You must be training her right. 😀
That’s awesome Dave. Will be glad when they come down a bit in price
too much talking, lack of 4K. Sorry pal.
Sorry it wasn’t what you were looking for. Plenty of other videos out there for you.
Great video! I have the Epson 5040 and it is a great projector. Very clear image. I have a 150” screen. Can you make a video on the calibration for the 5040? Love the videos by the way youthman!!
Thank you Phillip. I calibrated my Panasonic using the AVIA II and the WOW Disney Disk. I need to see what is available for 4K.
see brotha thats what i was talking about No go Grab a Darbee and use that on the 4K player and BLAMO your gonna be shocked!
I have heard good things about Darbee. I need to buy a UHD Player before I buy a Darbee
You can get them cheap online now go on eBay he probably can find one pretty cheap they are great mix 4K stuff look even more insane than it already does
Thanks
I've got a Darbee with my JVC RS55 and the Jvc alone is very good with the eshift, but it become great with the Darbee, makes a world of difference with great contents , no need for UHD, not enouph difference even on 120"
I have heard great things about Darbee.
Why is this video in 1080p?
Because I shoot on a Nikon D7100 which shoots in 1080p and the vast majority of viewers are watching on mobile devices and non-4K displays.
Youthman I ask, because you are doing a 4k vs 1080 video... Shouldn’t it be in 4k? TH-cam will down scale to lower resolutions...
Thx for the info
Interesting comparisons.
I really wasn’t expecting much difference but looking at the RAW photos, there was a significant difference in detail.
A better comparison would have been , the 5030 versus the 5040
Maybe, but that’s not what I had available to review. Gotta work with what you have
@@Youthman I still appreciate all the work you did for the review.
Thank you kindly
Great video, maybe try an Optoma UHD 65 too if you can.
Thanks Alex. Check out That Home Theater Dude. He just compared those two projectors
@@Youthman I already have 😁
I'm currently looking are the UHD50, but the pricing for the 65 has dropped. So trying to get as many reviews of each. Especially as the Epson isn't available here.
Good idea
Why the 5040, it’s 3 years old?
Because the 6040 wasn’t out yet and I didn’t want to wait that long to upgrade. In another 3-4 years when native 4K come down in price, I’ll upgrade to that. The 5040 provides a fantastic image and was an upgrade over my Panasonic AE8000u. I would have stayed with Panasonic but they stopped making home theater projectors.
Awesome video.the 4k is more details than the 1080p
Thank you Bassie
@@Youthman are Klipsch sending the subs klipsch R-115sw for some testing youthman?
I believe they will be in the new 7.2.4 Reference Premiere System they are sending me to review in September. I emailed them today to see what model numbers they are sending
@@Youthman great news
Thanks. I’m excited to hear how they sound as I’ve never heard the Reference Premiere or the R-115SW.
👍👌👌 Rafeek 1080
Has anyone here compared the 4010 with the 4050?
I have not
"Nikons aren't known for reproducing accurate skin tone colors" False, they're some of the best.
