- In 1950, two brothers Winston and John Douglas Kinser, created a 9 hole par 3 course in Austin TX. Over the next 70 years there would be a murder in that clubhouse with ties to future president Lyndon B Johnson, a change in ownership due to a minor paperwork error, and a whole lot of golf in between. Join me for the full story of Butler Pitch and Putt.
Well done. Been in Austin for about 63 years and this place has always been a jewel.
I'd imagine you can remember when it was closer to farmland than skyscrapers! Thank you for watching!
Played my first round of golf here about 35 years ago , a cut down 7 iron and old flat putter my dad got me to introduce me to the game of golf .
Back when they used to have 1 cent Tootsie Rolls for sale!
First time I played golf was here in 1983. Never stopped playing.
Great short film! I played here as a kiddo with my grandfather, father and brother about 40 greats ago. Later, I played with my daughter. Too many great memories Glad to see it restored and saved!! 🙌⛳️💚
Great work man, never knew this history!
I love hearing stories about places. They just put this course in the meta quest 2/3/pro vr game golf plus as dlc. It looks just like that has a train and everything. It had made me look up videos about the course and I discovered your video.
Glad you enjoyed it! The Golf + guys are amazingly talented and are great ambassadors for the Austin golf community. The train does in fact still run through the course occasionally throughout the day and the best part is watching a group of junior campers completely ignore whatever their teacher is saying and stare mesmerized as the train passes through 😁
Love this. This course is a fond memory of my childhood, and I suspect my Mom’s too. So happy you’ve helped save and document these pieces of history, my friend! Great work.
Just incredible! Well done friend 🤠
Excellent !
I really really enjoy your videos, been living in Austin the last 8 years. I live within walking distance of Hancock and it would be awesome if you did a video on that, I’d love to help.

BUTLER PARK! My Dad played out there, and it still looks the same all these years later.
Yep! New ownership did improvements but the layout is 99% the same
BRAVO!
Thanks for watching!
Nice job Aaron... so much fun... a great story! But LBJ involvement, can you elaborate :)
I've read all the books two times over and I STILL don't know what really happened :)
Very good!
Amazing!
Golf and a conspiracy. That’s what’s up bro.
😆 Like peanut butter and chocolate... they just go together
@@golfguyfilms5107You got conspiracy in my golf!
It is such a fun place….
I was there a couple years ago. Got hit in the jaw with a ball.
ive shanked it into the taco bell more than im proud to admit
To me, they ruined it. It was a jewel, now it's an in thing. It's too commercial and to cally.
