Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! How exciting with some Swedish books as I'm Swedish myself. The first book "Lilla Lena Luther- Berättelser för barn" (Little Lena Luther- Stories for Children) tells the story of Martin Luther's daughter Madgalena, or "Lilla Lena/Little Lena" as she was also known as. If I remember correctly- she died a tragic death at only thirteen years old. "Dikter" means poems in Swedish. Many of the poems or songs were recited in schools during Christmas or in connection to the celebration before summer break are really old- I wonder if I would recognize the poems in the book from my upbringing...? You can usually find a lot of calender-like books here in Swedish antique stores. I have found many pocket-sized versions that you would carry with you containing personalized notes, the birthdays of the previous owners family and friends, what appears to be shopping list, little poems and so much more- just scribbles that someone has put down as a form of rememberence. They are such wonderful little clipses into someones personal life. "Daggdroppar- för söndagsskolan" would be "Dew drops for sundayschool" translated. It is an "Andaktsbok" or a devotion book I think you would call it in English? An "andakt" could be described as a simpler form of church service during which you don't take the communion. "Anddakt" is often the term used for services performed in nursing homes or schools. It is a way to remind and inspire the christian to, in groups or alone, celebrate daily, and to remind them that God is with them every step of their life. This particular book seems to be directed to the young christian reader or for their teacher to read during sunday school. Sorry for the long comment but hopefully it was at least some help : )
