- Watch PART 2: • How To UPGRADE SPLATRB... | In this video series, I show how to upgrade the Splatrball gearbox to all-metal gears with a stronger spring. The main purpose of this upgrade is to replace the plastic gears that strip and break easily. A gel blaster that doesn't fire and makes a high-pitched whining noise has stripped its gears, usually the motor pinion gear strips the bevel gear. The gears need to be replaced. There are no plastic replacement gears that match the original gears, particularly the unusual dimensioned piston plunger. The plastic gears would eventually strip again anyways. So upgrading to the metal gears will repair the gearbox, and increase the durability of the blaster.

is this gearbox aligned with the proportions of a v2 airsoft gearbox? if so then i might js put a mosfet and some 12:1 gears with a 40k motor. that would prolly give me a good 60rps.

Unfortunately the SRB375 does not have replacement gears since it doesn't use airsoft standard parts.

I was thinking of adding a ASG Airsoft 35k short type motor in my srb400. It looks like the Splatrball guns use Airsoft short type motors so do you think this motor would work as an upgrade?
Yep, it's just a short D shaft airsoft motor. Not sure if the plastic gears will handle the upgraded motor though...

im only planning to add metal gears and the latch plus the secter chip, without doing anythjng to the piston. Should the gears be 18 to 1 that fits in a v2 v3 box? because idk which is which in geats
Yes, 18-1. You can't use the original piston, because the plastic pickup gear is oversized, the remaining gear teeth on the rack won't mesh correctly with the metal gears.
I might try an X -ring for less friction.
Anything to do to keep the balls from coming out when point the gun downward? And what's the difference in the 400 and the 400s?
If the balls roll out, then they have not grown large enough. Let them soak longer.
@@engineerable I thought that too but they been soaking for a good 4 days. Do you not have that problem? If you shoot 1 round then point the gun down the ball rolls out.
@@MrPlumloko No, they don't roll out when the right size. It could have to do with the type of water (hard?) where it doesn't absorb enough water.

can i only replace the spring and nothing else? also will upgrading the battery to a 11.1v 2000mah battery will it be a bad decision to do that without upgrading to metal gears?

You can just replace the gears. I did not replace the motor either.
i am looking into buying a 11.1 volt battery so would it all work the same just if i only change the gears and the things that it needs to change the gears like the

I’m not sure if your still answering but… when I popped the plastic where the gears are the shims came off and I need to know how many goes on each one. And the piston head do I have to cut that one part off seems like it fits I didn’t put it fully back on tho. I’m also trying to find a better motor that will increase the speed and hit harder if you know one please tell me. You said that metal rail likes to bend where can I find one that’s sturdier?
Watch the video to see where the shims go. I also have another video that's just a teardown and reassembly. Better motor will require metal gears. Faster motor that can take higher voltage increases the rate of fire. A motor with more torque can compress a stronger spring for higher FPS. TBH, at that point, buy a better blaster in the $150+ range that is already upgraded, and can be more easily upgraded further. No piston will fit without adding a plastic piece on top. Some one in Australia commented on a brand that worked, but they won't ship outside of Aus. They used a non-standard piston size.
How do you remove and grind down the gear? And what do we use for a sector chip?
Use a belt sander or Dremel tool to grind off the teeth. I will upload the sector chip design, and you can also buy some from airsoft places like EVIKE. I will provide a link.

Would these work with pulsar pro? My gears are stripped need upgrade metal not sure what would work.
In theory, Pulsar Pro uses the same gears and piston plunger as airsoft. However, I haven't taken mine apart yet to determine whether that will work, or there's something F'd up like the non-standard piston size of the Splatrball. I will be doing it soon, so stay tuned.

Your gears are stripped, and can be repaired by replacing with metal gears. Sorry I don't offer a repair service.

You have to do everything in the video. Replace the piston with metal gear rack also to match the metal gears, shim the piston diameter, replace pinion gear, etc

What are some other anti reverse latches that would work, the linked one is sold out and has been for a while
Any airsoft anti reverse will work, although it doesn't need to be replaced. The plastic one will continue to work fine even with metal gears.

Yes, a V3 airsoft gearbox will fit, but requires some small modifications.

If your gears do strip, sometimes you can use the adjustment screw to re engage the gears

Only the 400 and 1200 use the same gearbox. The 375 uses something different that can really be repaired.

Metal gears and better spring everything that would make the internals of the srb400 last long and have better fps and will not strip with a 11.1v battery id really appreciate it

For a while at least. 11.1V will reduce the life of other things, like the switch and motor.

Yes, you can replace the Pulsar Pro gears with metal ones, in fact it should be easier because you shouldn't need to modify the piston.
does this affect how much the gel balls hurt ?
Increasing FPS does make the gel balls hit harder, and travel further.

7.4V if you go to 11.1V it may burn stuff up quick

@@sheldonpinoy2212 That's the air nozzle. Common cause of that not moving back far enough is that either the tappet plate is not hooked onto it in the correct place, or the tappet plate is bent and needs to be straightened

I watched the whole video and it seems like a process to upgrade the SRB blaster. I just like the simplistic look and design of the SRB400, I looked at the other blasters that you linked, which I liked, but I don’t like the design very much, the blaster looks too real!
@@zapponpc2965 Agreed, but it would be time better spent to get the higher quality blaster and downgrade the appearance. 3D print mods to change the appearance to less realistic.

UNLOCX has a V2 style airsoft gearbox, and the gears and piston should be compatible. It's probably an easier mod than the Splatrball

It works great, but tbh, a full metal V3 gearbox costs almost the same, and is probably less work to mod. I have one, but haven't installed it yet.
@@engineerable been looking at some complete builds.. is the G36C / G36 the most compatible for plug and play? And if I were to buy an airsoft gear box. The only thing that would need to be replaced is the nozzle? Needs to be longer right?

@@engineerable ya, there has been a bunch of these guns made it seems. Wells has even put out different variations of this gun. First being black, then a gray/blue one, and now this translucent green/orange. It also seems that any v3 gearbox should work. I'm a noob at this but I'm understanding more and more each day

Based on that, this looks like a hybrid. It has the 370 motor of the V2 (smaller than Splatrball), but the electric mag of the V3

I spent $60 on all of the components and then he says I need a 15 tooth piston
Either 14 or 15 tooth piston will work if they are manufactured properly. The problem I had is that the 14 tooth pistons were not manufactured properly and the gear teeth did not align. Evike confirmed they were defective and sent me new ones.

at this point just play airsoft
I put the M90 spring in there to see how it would perform and do some durability testing. The accuracy is awful (even with hardened gels) and really needs a hop up now to give them a consistent spin. If that's not effective, I'll probably switch back to the stock spring
Gels are cheep and don't require cleanup
