for me the main differentiator is price. if i attend ucla, i'll only have to pay around 30-40k per year for tuition and dorm costs, but it would be like 80-100k for schools like usc and nyu. on top of that, ucla is just generally regarded as a top 20 school in the nation, whereas usc and nyu are like a tier below as they seem to be regarded as top 40 schools (but i know rankings can be subjective). furthermore i just like the overall location and campus of ucla more than usc and nyu; i don't really like the urban and decentralized campus of nyu, and i don't really like the location of the usc campus.

I got like waitlisted everywhere bro 😭. My plan was to go northeastern and I expected to get in, but they’re having housing issues. So I’m on the waitlist rn.
i got into northeastern ea and i rly wanted to go but its too expensive and idk what to do now... everyone is telling me to go to umich but ive lived in a2 my whole life and rly hate it here
yeah i feel you northeastern is a really expensive school, but i believe that you’ll figure it out. even if you end up going to michigan, you’ll be surrounded by an entirely different group of people than you were in high school!
Congrats on ur acceptance! I also applied this year to some of the same colleges as you. I got in to NU and 3 UC schools. I'm having such a hard time deciding where to commit. What do u think? Studying in Boston or CA??
what uc's? northeastern is probably the most overrated school in the country because they play the most with yield protection and things like that so that their stats don't match their actual prestige. if you are on the fence between northeastern and a uc because of prestige, choose the uc for sure
My friend and I both got waitlisted at northeastern, I got into Georgetown, and she got a full ride at mud and got into duke, so their acceptance rate is meaningless. also everyone I know that plans on going are basically normal students, so its not "elite" in any sense of the word
personally being from california, i would definitely say its a nice place to study in, especially if you got into ucla, uc berkeley, uc santa barbara, and uc san diego!

personally id go to northeastern over places like ucsc or uc davis but id have to think twice about the schools listed above
