Idk about 'make sure'. If you're going out you kindof wanna have fun, so you have to ask yourself in every set 'am I likely to have more fun here than just meeting someone new'. If you're new you can waste a lot of time on sets going nowhere if you don't make that assessment properly; so you don't necessarily want to win by being the last one standing, its better to think of it more like, well that is one option. You have to end your night somewhere right, so you're hedging your bets when you do. So how do you do that? Well, imagine you're on a dance floor, she's had a few drinks shot the shit with a few guys maybe given her number out a few times, and she starts dancing with you while her friend is in the washroom and later being hit on by another guy. You're ramping up her mood, adding stimulation to her night getting her excited, but there's no realistic way to do anything right there and then, and if you tried to move her after building her up that way, she suddenly has to consciously decide to go with you, and you don't have enough comfort between you for that, enough of a history together that creates trust, so if you tried to move her you'd lose her. So what happens. Lets say you try to move her anyways thinking its your best shot and you lose her. What happens to her? She's in the mood, she's excited, her friend isn't around and she's been dancing for a while and is in heels. Probably she's approached by another guy, while she's giving out all these really positive and available signals, he escalates pretty quickly and after making out he goes for the pull and it works out for him, Why? Why was it easier for him? Because you'd done all the work. Its a lesson: If you're going to spike her emotions and get her invested and you don't close, someone else will, and that's actually kindof dangerous for her and not a cool thing to do to a girl you like. To paraphrase Todd from another video 'if you truly are a cool fun guy, if you are a win for her why not you, you almost owe it to her to close'. Conversely, if you meet a girl who's just had guy after guy strike out with her but she is having fun, she is excited to meet someone, she doesn't want you to start at 'hello my name is', you're starting where they left off, you're starting where she is emotionally right there and then. You're probably opening or bonding over how awkward it is to meet strangers who are either unattractive, creepy or boring and seeing where that goes. Or if you're creative, and this is what I would do, is I would merge sets and let the safe boring guy who's striking out with the hot girl meet this one so I can talk to the hot girl, since that works out best for everyone involved; The way I see it the orbiter guy she trusts in her friend zone wants a better shot with someone fun and easy so if I help him out he's my new wingman. If you're really cheeky, you could open them together and say they look cute together so that she will reveal they're not or you could ask him when in private how long he's liked her so you have better information. Its up to you as a social artist to make the most of what the environment gives you and what you bring to it. You're totally right, 'waiting' to be the last man is awkward, so understanding when that option is truly available is useful, managing that is...you kindof just have to be able to tell when she's ready and how she's feeling the same way you would with anyone else. If you're choosing to be that last standing guy just frame it that way, like its the most natural thing in the world to happen, it should feel to others almost like you arrived together.
