    What a load of rubbish! I have trained traditional kyokushinkai karate all my life (over 28 years) for self defence, not sport so I do not see the REAL WORLD applications of these rediculous techniques. I hope these people know they are jsut learning what I call a "TV martial art" and not a true self defence art.

      Hi! Taido is sport, not self defense, more like gymnastics. And the people who practise it also know that. Karate, tae kwon do, jujutsu and the traditional Finnish nameless martial art (they use knive, axe, shotgun or anything, even bare hands!) or almost anything is much better in the purpose of self defense, but of course the best way is to avoid as far as possible any kind of conflicts! And even then one should try one of the best methods that are the fast legs.
      I live in the country where live the most violent people in Europe (according to some statistics that lie anyway). Jujutsu training helped me in the situation where a car hit me when I was biking. I did not hit my head and the landing was very smooth. Although there are very many violent people in Finland I have been lucky not to meet them. Their avoidance is quite easy task: don't be in a wrong place in a wrong time.

    Coming from a Karate background of over 20 years that bunkai from 2.45 the guys and gals looked messy. So no disrespect to the art though, they are all very good and athletic. Just hard to picture any practicality. Although Karate isn’t even so practical anyway.

    Bullshito. I once trained this for a month then I gave up because of the bull and the shito. Most annoying are all the patterns you must do like switch legs and hands for every step you take. And that women should punch differently than men with their fingers instead of their fists. Whats up with that?

    • @TheMartialMix
      @TheMartialMix 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ritsmond yeah thats true, you do need to train longer than that but coming from a Kyokushin background and looking at their sparring, I can quite confidently say that even a green belt can mop the floor with one of these black belts given the Kyokushin dojo isn't a mcdojo.

      Hyvä pointti! Taido ei ole taistelulaji itsepuolustustarkoituksessa, vaan puhtaasti kamppailu-urheilulaji - paino sanalla urheilu. Se on hyvin epäkäytännöllinen, jos sen sääntöjen ja tekniikoiden mukaan yrittäisi harrastaa katutappelua, mutta sen harjoittelu kyllä kehittää koordinaatiota ja fyysistä kuntoa, joista voisi olla hyötyä jossakin "taistelussa". Toisaalta osa näistä urheilijoista osaa nuo liikkeet niin hyvin, että ei tekisi mieli ottaa niiltä osumaa - nim. kokemusta on. Noitten hokei-liikesarjojen treenaaminen on myös hyvää jumppaa. Tosin niiden oppiminen vaatii jonkin verran aikaa ja hikeä... Oli noista kuperkeikkaharjoitteluista kyllä hyötyä taannoin, kun vauhdissa vedin lipat suunnistaessa kallionrinteessä - kuperkeikka ja suoraan takas jaloille. Kilpakumppani kysyi, että sattuiko... Mitä lajia itse harrastat?
