I like that it's rechargeable and or battery operated! Definitely looks like your gonna be checking some folks speeds on the water with it! Would I buy one? Maybe if I got into more tournament style fishing, Yes. But for what I do putting around fishing little spots here and there, my little Berkley does good. Nice scale though
I got mine back in May for my birthday... fantastic scale! Kids love challenging me using competition mode and tournament mode has made culling mindless and easy as ever!
That scale is awesome! Batt lasts a very long time. I have catch Commander also, it’s a really good scale but I’ve gone through 3 of them because the lip clip jaws are solid mounted to the scale and after a few big ones flailing around when you’re weighing them caused it to not read the weight correctly.
I was just looking at that scale a second ago because another commenter said he was between the two. Didn’t think about the lip clip being a point of failure but I can definitely see that being a huge problem. Sucks you went through three!!
I love my catch commander it’s made culling and getting my bait back in the water so much faster! Sometimes you can’t see the screen if the batteries get low and it’s really sunny out. They need to revamp the catch commander scale. Debating on getting this bubba one.
awesome video bro. Im been debating on getting one. I have the same frustration with the Rapala one. I might wait for a black Friday deal for this scale. I dont fish enough tournament to make this worth it yet.
I got the budget Bubba ($99) and it works well too. Has a couple of issues that make it a little less intuitive to use (the Tare button is weird to use). One thing I have noticed is with using the AAA batteries (this one didn't come with the rechargeable)....this scale still seems to draw power even when off which runs down the AAA batteries quicker.
Sb - do a demonstration on the accuracy of the scale. Love the vid man keep it up. I would love to see how accurately it is vs. when we take fish in to the scale(s). Don't get me wrong chances are we a decent weigh in scale probably going to be a bit heavier just bc the extra water ect. But would love to see how accurate that sucker is. I'm almost sold 😂
Saw my local Store had them in stock and thought maybe and started watching videos of course watched yours and have come to the conclusion from watching and reading some comments that there is no way I can honestly justify needing this for the level of fishing I do. So what I've done is removed the metal J hook on my inexpensive digital scale and put on dollar store plastic fish gripper and it works very well. I make sure to replace the battery at start of season and I'm good for entire season include ice fishing. GREAT VIDEO - Jus realized this is not for me
A very logical conclusion and fair stance. More people need to take your line of thinking instead of hating on something. It IS a great scale, the best I’ve used. However - if I didn’t fish as many tournaments as I do, and didn’t have the scratch or wanted to spend the money - your solution is perfect.
Been looking for a new scale and was leaning towards the one Christian Greico uses I think it’s the Catch Commander. Thanks for the review. Now I have a decision to make. They both look good but the Bubba seems higher quality.
$200 for a fish scale sounds ridiculous until you’ve had THREE of those touch-screen Rapalas and one of their “high contrast” scales all go bad because they got exposed to moisture. I don’t mean they got left out in the rain or dropped in the lake. I mean left on the deck of the boat overnight. I’d rather pay $200 once and have a scale that won’t fail me when I need it.
100% nailed it. I don’t think I mentioned it in the vid but I’ve used 4-5 different scales and they’re NOT WATERPROOF. How do you make a fishing scale that’s not waterproof?!?!😂
Does this scale come with Cull tags? I noticed the different spots are color coded on the scale, and think itd be great if they came with tags as well.
Tacklewarehouse has a $100 Bubba scale as well. I think it's the exact same scale without the case and maybe a few less features? Just another cheaper option!
I don’t tournament fish but I bought the same scale. Of course I love the scale but I also like / want to try out some of the features that the app has as well. I fish big Swimbaits and never thought I’d be buying 2,3,4, or 500 dollar baits but here we are, and now a 200 scale doesn’t seem so bad 😂
😂😂 fair enough. I know one of the features is it’ll record when/where you weigh the fish (recording date/time) and also air and water temp. Good for notes, no doubt.
I bought the $99 version and the rechargable battery pack. Something I am wondering about, brand new out of the box, I fully charged the chargable battery, and it doesn't show a full charge when I put it in the scale. I let it charge until it turned green last night and it wasn't showing full, so I let it charge all night and same thing. Does yours show full charge?
@@wny_fishing7167 It seems to do that for sure. Needs a solid second to second and a half of steady reading to lock in. I have heard that from other people as-well.
that's the only problem i have with it seems like you have to be perfectly steady to get it to lock in, other than that love the scale@@DividedWeAllFall
@@wny_fishing7167 Yeah I like it as-well. Hopefully stands the test of time. Caught a nice 5 lb 10 oz bass last night with a baitfish tail sticking out of his throat. I wish I could share the video with you of all the baitfish being attacked. It was in 3 or 4 foot of water and just looked like ripples on top of the water in about a 50 yard circle, and you could see them jumping out of the water every few seconds all over that area for about two hours.
All great features, but one feature that is lacking as with most scales, is there is no way to export the raw data! You can export to their app, but you have to pay for the privilege. I think a $200 scale, or even a $25 scale, should have this feature.
Wow - that's pretty nice!!! Many can't justify spending that much on a scale but --- it may pay off if yer fishing tournaments and comps!!! Hey, also seen you get an additional 10% OFF on the site (using the link above anyway)!!!! One thing I was curious about -- yes, it's waterproof and so is the box, but - Does it FLOAT!?! (in the event of misfortune) (: Be Safe
Hey SB, I watched your Bubba video awhile back and I just noticed something while watching some recent MLF events. Is it me or does it seem like the tournament officials are taking a little bit longer to register the weights when I weighing the fish than they use too? Seems like it takes forever🤔
Great review, but a little pricey for me... Is it an IGFA Certified scale? Certified scales are needed to weigh a possible record fish... Any in the boat cheap digital scale & balance beams will work for tournaments or for pond management purposes. That's just my thoughts... I use a phone app if I want to keep a record that automatically uploads to my Google Drive. I'm sure Apple phones have similar apps. 🍺🎣
You don’t even need a scale for tournaments, cull tags and balance beam is all that’s needed. I do use a scale , but I would never pay $200 for a scale ever
I agree my scale cost $50 and I use my balance beam over that any day of the week… stressing fish out tho with it aren’t you doing the same thing with the scale as you are a balance beam with the fishes weight hanging by the lip…. SB all love the videos are awesome
All love fo sho - I figured he meant he was beaming with no scale. If you catch a limit and have a crazy day, you're beaming fish multiple times going in and out of the livewell. The least amount of time I can have a fish out of water the better IMO. Maybe overthinking it😅 @@FishinWithEli
You don't need electronics or a trolling motor either. You can use oars and a weight on a string. In reality, if you want the best scale on the market, this is the one. If you are willing to settle for less, they are available.
I am glad you dropped this I’ve been wondering
Thanks for checkin it out

Great honest review! Thank you, I just ordered one.

Nice scale! Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on it! Nice video and thanks for sharing!

Tourney weigh in scales always going to be off slightly for sure. I can definitely test it against another handheld scale or something!
@SBFishing would love to see it, and I'm sure the fans would to. Keep it up love your content bro. Lol do it against the Rapala

I’ve seen his too, def looks nice and $100 cheaper. I can’t say which to go with as I haven’t checked the catch commander scale out myself.
Just got a comment about the catch commander here in the comments from Eric Tressel. Go read it, talks about a point of failure.

Right!! For $200 at least the tags should’ve been in the box
No it don't but definitely think for $200 it should be a complete tournament package! Guess if trucks and boats are 100k then scales cost $200 now...
Tacklewarehouse has a $100 Bubba scale as well. I think it's the exact same scale without the case and maybe a few less features? Just another cheaper option!
The original Cul-M-Rite XL was $200 and a much better unit. However, the maintenance was horrible...hence the reason it ultimately failed.
Any mch difference in 200 dollar one to 100 dollar one
Well, I know what I’m buying myself for Christmas. YOU GOT ME SOLD!!!

does it autolock on the weight?
Tackle Warehouse.. 50% off black Friday?
What’s crazy is scales that aren’t waterproof, imagine only being used on the water and not being waterproof.

AAA guys always say "Buy once, cry once" instead of buy something cheap 100 times and be mad that you had to buy something 100 times.

Worth it. I paid even more for my reloading scale.

Getting one just for the fact that it's waterproof.

It’s so tempting but I can’t justify the price……. Yet lol

@@SBFishing you can eyeball most of the fish . I see a lot of people weighing kicker fish as soon as they catch em ,there’s no point .

If MLF uses it, it has to have a built-in cheating function. 🤣
I dont even want to spend 200 dollars on fishing gear total let alone for a scale.

👍🏻
Bottom line if you had to buy it would you pay $200.00
5 ⭐ 👍
Still dont think its worth that
Ridiculous. It’ a scale not a laptop🙄.
fucking ridiculous
Bubba scale is a joke
Best scale I ever used 🤷🏻♂️
