Thank you. To all you how have been playing Asturias, I glad to tell you that I today will publish a version 2.0. This version includes sticking and an alternative way of playing parts that are not so easy if you are not using the Stevens Grip. You will find it here www.shop.kaistensgaard.com
WOW, absolutely amazing! I have never seen anything like this before. Great interpretation of the piece. 5 out of 5 stars, very engaging, entertaining and astounding! It's great to see yet another interpretation on a unique musical instrument. The piano score (which it was originally composed for) and the guitar translation are great gems. This is one I'll add to my favorites. I wish you the best, and thanks for the upload!
Bought this arr. from Kai himself in Copenhagen during Percussion Pulse 2020 festival. This is what you call a reference video! He's very friendly and a great marimbist!
AMAZING. One of my top 10 favourite performances now. Very talented and an excellent performance. I was just trying out instruments on my electronic keyboard and selected xylophone. I suddenly remember Asturias and thought that would be the ideal piece to play for this instrument as it is mostly staccato, then I wondered if anyone has played it and it brought me here. Is there anything that hasn't been done or I cannot find on Internet.
Amazing! I learned the highlights of this song on marimba during my undergrad. The triplets at the beginning took months to learn the technique! Well done.
Besides that its great piece of music, beautiful playing and greaat arangement one can imagine how hard is it to record such composition using a playback. There is also funny moment on 3:58 if you hear it in headphones you can recognise JA or YEAH )
Kai Stensgaard i'm not sure how to get a piece on the list. I'm pretty sure that solo and ensemble music lists vary among the states. Only way I can figure out how to find out is by calling the Florida Band Masters Association and asking them since I live in Florida. flmusiced.org/fba/dnn/Home.aspx
Today I found out that my old transcription of Asturias has been shown almost 27.500 times. Thanks!!!! But my video about my six mallet grip has been seen by 35.000 :-)) Asturias Leyenda via @youtube
@kmoin1996 You know that there are variations of marimba solos right? I'm playing this solo for my high school winter concert, and it's in a different key. It's okay. Grow up. This man is a thousand times the marimba player that you will ever be.
hey Kai!! is there a way to get this version from you, I have the one from lonestar percussion and would be more interested in yours. I am using the other one as a foundation, but would love and be honored to get and learn yours!!! thanks and I love you music and covers!!!
I am a guitarist and Asturias is one of my favorite. But watching your play using unique instrument makes me happier. Great and amazing play.
Thanks and yes it’s a lovely piece

Fantástico! Espetacular!
Really enjoyed your interpretation of the middle section. Way more challenging but certainly far more eloquent.

Is a 5 octave marimba required for this piece?
I'd love to hear your take on Malagueña
comme c'est beau,
you must have some amazing chopsticks skills man! haha
What note is made at 2:51 because it has given me goosebumps each and every time i listen to it. I love it! Good job guy.

Yes you are right, it is a mirror behind me :-))
what is the lowest note you play in the piece? I just want to know if I can play it on my marimba at home. I only have a 4.3 octave, not a 5.
The lowest note is an E, but you can easily move the lowest notes up, so you can play it on a 4.3.
Kai Stensgaard cool, thanks!
What kind of mallets are you using?
Great ! You are .
What mallets are you using in this video, if you can recall?
this is beautiful, i'm looking to find a marimba for me, how much it costs one like this ?
André Lourenço $10,000-15,000ish USD or maybe even closer to $20,000
are these keiko abe's YM-6000 marimba's?
Is this doable on a low A marimba?
Took me a while to realize there was a mirror
Same lol
bravo
When people jokingly say you need four arms to play a piece in piano, show them this video
Where I get the sheet music?
Score
wow...!
Yamaha must be proud :)
:-) well well
Great
