I bought it from Steveweissmusic, but it seems to not be there any more. It's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor arranged by John Kasica, if you want to look
Wow, I thought your arrangement would have big pieces cut out so that it was easier, but as far as my humble self can tell you managed to play all the parts the organ can! Very cool.
I am sure that if Bach had access to marimba during his life he would have wrote for it... Especially with a fine marimbist (if such word exists) like you!
This is the only arrangement I've herd on marimba that actually sounds good. I can tell you really enjoyed playing it and you really emptied your heart onto this song when you played it. Im 14 and i just started working on it. It can get challenging in a few parts but its really fun. nice job.
Well kind of. If you look at the organ score, one can see where this is possible. There are a lot of polyphonic and octave sections. Finally, it's impossible to play all the harmonic and polyphonic parts on mallets. (The organ has both hands and feet and this piece requires you to use ALL of them).
WOW! I played that for my senior recital in college and didn't come close to what you did! (and I didn't play it with the same grip, which I wish I had learned in the old days!0
this is AMAZING! a very nice interpretation of bach´s toccata and fugue in d minor. i never heard this score played on a wooden xylophone before. well done :D
+Fabian Kraemer The instrument's called a marimba, actually! They're both in the idiophone class, but the marimba has a much mellower sound and a lower pitch. I agree, it's a lovely interpretation of toccata and fugue!
very good sound and interpretation. I didn't know the instrument till yet, it's beautiful. Very good feeling in the middle of the piece. great interpretaton.
This is amazing partly because essentially he is performing this piece using only 4 'fingers'. Even a pianist using 10 fingers is challenged to play this it is obvious when watching videos.
This was the opening act?! Man, I would've gone home if I had to play next!
Me too.
Probably mostly pianists and some string players though so it wouldn't have been a direct competition
I've been a mallet player for nearly 20 years and I've never seen anyone tackle a piece like this, let alone pull it off so expertly! Bravo!
Ditto!
I dont think any one the not so common Musser grip!
The echo from the room he's playing in fits perfectly. Love it.
the sound of that thing is mesmerizing, and haunting at times.

Fantastic! Bach would have been happy to hear this!

I love how the crowd is practically speechless lol

the fugue part is awesome!
Not sure what words to say to something as beautiful but i guess to me one word that sums it would be as pure and simple as this.....ART.
Totally stellar, man. Captivating, ethereal, sublime. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, I remember using pretty hard mallets, and I agree with your advice :)
Pipe organ played with four sticks: beautiful.
terukoba1 😂😂😂yes

that marimba sounds so nice!
Im playing this at a music competition at the end of march, wish me luck! 😅 (btw im using 2 mallets because it is easier)
That is awesome finger control.
Independently moving each stick of one hand.
That is Steven's Grip*.
+Rozni Yusof - Not so impressive. I move my "stick" with one hand every day.
Well...
NOW I'VE HEARD EVERYTHING!
Bravo for Mr. Chan!! One of the most exciting renditions of the T & F in D minor I've ever heard.

Aren't xylophones always made of wood?
@@elliotshiwota2322 yeah but the marimba is bigger
@@bobdaniel6230 it's not always necessarily bigger, it's just pitched lower
Great performance 👍
