      Hi mate appreciate what you are saying but it seems like you have a problem whenever someone has a different opinion on what makes a value car a value car, to a lot of people a Chinese car isn’t good value it is just cheap.

    I was planning to purchase my 3rd BMW X2 ... then I looked at the Omoda-5.
    I have now owned a 2023 Omoda-5 BX for 3 months, most current software update in place.
    1. The driver fatigue monitor works fine for me, accurate and not over zealous.
    2. Phone charge only works with compatible phones. My A74 oppo charges via USB cable and initiates the screen display.
    3. Car in front drive-a-way function is great.
    4. Very happy with interior materials, although right arm rest could be softer.
    5. I didn't opt for a sunroof, I want shade, not sun. (Sunroof comes with 360° camera + auto-open boot, duel electronic seat adjustment and warmer ... for more $'s).
    6. The exterior design got me interested, the technology, 7yr warranty, 7yr fixed services, 7rs roadside assistance, sold me.
    7. I'm using all the technology functions without turning anything off. I'm learning what the signals and sounds are alerting to. I think turning anything off is counterintuitive to what the car offers. Let the car teach you and enjoy all the technology it has to offer. (While available, I'm not using the hands-free driving. I feel 2 hands on the wheel is better than no hands 😉)
    Comparing the Omoda-5 to my 2 previous BMW X2's, I feel I've got 2.5 times the car at lees than 1/2 the price.
    I give my Omoda-5 Saturn Silver (charcoal metallic, no red accents) BX 9.5/10 👍

      Very interesting and maybe true as I don't own BMW and can't compare, other than hearing left and right about them trying to charge you subscriptions (?) for every feature and service you get for free out of even the cheapest and arguably LOWEST quality Chinese car product on the market right now. Glad for you that you're happy with your choice though mate, I've made plenty of my own mistakes trying different brands and don't judge.

    ❤ your work, Demetri.
    Compared to what Chery offered us 13 years ago, is like night and day. The omoda 5 has a fun looking exterior that I see would appeal to the younger audience.
    I’m really excited to see the future cars that we will see coming out of china. This Friday I’ll be stepping out of my very reliable 2012 Ford Kuga, driven by the 5 cylinder turbo Volvo engine also shared with the XR5 Focus, and stepping into the Jolion Ultra. My dad purchased the 2016 Ford Kuga, and he has had nothing but issues with it. He said he will never buy another Ford due to issues and lack of support from Ford. I asked him what he thought of his Oppo phone from China? and he said he loved it. I told him, it’s now time to try their cars.
    When I show him my new Jolion, I’m sure he will be blown away!
    Keep up the good work mate! 😉👍

      Lol, I also use the phone to make the point that Chinese products are everywhere... Having said that, I do believe that GWM Haval has overall a better name on the market for reliability of their cars than e.g. SAIC or Chery... Another great video Dimitri, the driver monitoring camera is mounted in the same position as the Jolion, I turned mine off after the first day as Haval haven’t got the algorithms quite right, they are relying on iris detection and sunglasses especially and ordinary glasses at times upset the camera input. If you turn off the driver monitoring is that setting retained each time you restart the car. Great software but still requires a bit more fine tuning.

      My only recommendation is to test drive and check reviews on the comparably priced vehicles, rather than just diving into this without knowing much about it. The fatigue monitoring camera is good safety system to avoid causing some accident which are due to drivers sleeping on the road...most Mining Sectors use it for TMM drivers

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting insight, and maybe in those sectors this will help for sure, but for every day drivers in the urban Australian cities this is nothing but annoyance. So feature-wise, you're talking about 80/20 split of negative to benefit. It's a losing formula for Chery.

    Compared to early Hyundai/Kia offerings in early 2000’s this is amazing value - each of the newer brands have their tech issues however for a family on a budget with a good warranty and good safety I can see why they sell well as not everyone can afford the German brands to buy and maintain and with Ford and GM abandoning this segment I welcome these as meeting the demand for affordable family cars.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely affordable, all right... But on the balance of all things I'd say - there are better budget-friendly choices for (about) the same kind of money. In other words, all in all, the quality of materials and electronics is just not where it needs to be to compete even with GWM Haval, in my opinion anyway.

With Chery being new to the Australian market, how soon will they be able to fix and get it back on the road should something unforeseen happen? Keen to hear your thoughts. Also, is the suspension as bad as what the other reviewers are making it to be?

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello mate. I think any newcomer brand to our market (Chery, BYD, Haval, MG, Cupra) is a risk. So before forking out your cash - just consider if it's worth your risk, and if you like the car ENOUGH to take that risk? It's really not my decision, I just tell people what I think about elements of the cars I've tested or owned. Chery is a bit of a mystery and long-term investment is not something even I would take with a massive amount of confidence. Also, test drive is mandatory - i.e. you need to decide for yourself if suspension and anything else bothers you, don't trust others. I say things with all honesty, but it's still "my opinion" - you need to develop your own. I hope it helps you.

    I own the vehicle and i wouldn’t recommend one buys it. Im a technology savvy and i bought the car for its bells and whistles especially when it came to the driver assistance features.
    They state the vehicle had a front and rear parking sensors but when an object is directly infront of the vehicle it won’t recognise it but when its on the side it does. I then decided to investigate why that is so i noticed that the side front sensors work but the two middle sensors are not connected at all they are just there for show. So that means the forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB) and other features that depend on the radar sensors to work, can only do so if the objects are on the side.

      @@ValueCarsAU could you also include this in your next review as this is false advertising and people will buy the cars based on these features.
      Upon inspecting the vehicle i noticed there are two front sensors but they are not connected. When i enquired, they informed me that it is like that from China.
      It also has an issue with the monitor just today i had to disconnect the battery as the monitor would not switch off nor when i reverse will it show me whats happening at the back, the air conditioner wouldn’t show on the screen basically the screen froze.

    Purchased this car 2 months ago, have done over 4000klm. Great car to drive, comfortable, great handling, roomy and a great looker. The TECH IS TERRIBLE- Wireless charging overheats every phone that is put on it. HEY CHERY does basically nothing. Emergency lane keeping is dangerous and it should STAY OFF if you turn it off, not come back on every time you turn the car off. Speed assist is as annoying as heck and reads speed signs on off ramps as you are driving on the highway. The smart cruise control is way too aggressive in breaking. Apple car play drops out whilst driving and is a nightmare to get back working. Drives beautifully as a car it’s great value for money. The software update did absolutely nothing to address all of the issues. If I had an offer for a refund, I would take it and buy a Haval H6 GT. Genuine feedback

    Great vid & review! But I must admit it is concerning that the black Omoda felt "tight" and yet the white one didn't? Can you elaborate on that? Bit of worry as the first thing that leaps to mind is the build quality is a bit "hit and miss" - and that is something Chery can ill-afford considering their first foray into the Oz market...and subsequent withdrawal! Anyway - what we need is a quality "Dimitry review" of the Mahindra XUV700! Pretty please!😀

    Dimitri, great review. However, you should not have held back on "glass roofs". It is not simply overrated, oh no. That "technology" is one of the most idiotic, useless and wasteful car features ever invented. Especially in hot countries with crazy UV levels like Australia. First, they make cars a lot more expensive. Then, since like any glass they DO break sometimes and cost at least 5000 AUD to replace. Needless to say, that risk is then accordingly reflected in your insurance cost, making your ongoing insurance costs also more expensive. Then, they allow A LOT more heat into cabin forcing you to run AC more, losing efficiency and losing range. And they also reduce cabin head space. And all for what?! That "Oh, I get so much more light in the cabin!" nonsense? Really??? When you are sitting in a small box with windows ALL AROUND you? How much MORE light could you possibly want?

      Don't you worry. Chery sold 603 of these Omoda in June. As fast as they can be shipped.

      @@mharro88 I have no interest in this style of vehicle. Came across the Chery sales stats in VFACTS. The more Omodas on the road means more traffic into the show rooms. And that's even before Tiggo 7 and 8 arrive.

      Another dumb ass comment. Absolutely no proof of that. 2 strikes. Post something else and I'll be sad to have one less clown in the comments.
