Garrett's the definition of free. Damn, you must have some pure braveness to start traveling like this and simply not care about all the unnecessary things in life. Takes balls.
Another good one that shows my students that in order to have things work and look nice, you must put in the time and work. Things like homes, yards, cars, neighborhoods, cities,... don't just look good on their own. It all takes someone to maintain and care for them.
The bro's pure spirit and free soul rubbs off like crazy.. I'm telling you after watching his uploads life just hits different.. envious in the best way..🤔🤷if possible. story short, I feel like I travel with him when watching.. me being Maori I have a respect and love for tangaroa and to see Garrett traverse so graceful on top of him just makes for poetry in motion.. mauri ora brother 🤍❤️🖤 travel safe
Most hose clamps with the straight head screwdriver can also use a 5/16 nut driver. If you have some of the really old ones that don't do this throw them away and get new ones . It is inexpensive to get new ones.
I don't remember how I originally came across your videos. I love watching them! Your videography has improved a ton and the drone shots make these videos even better! You're way braver than me at your age
Dang that boat rocks…………I would definitely be tossing my cookies. An abandoned super yacht?? That is a “thing” ? I am impressed. You seem very mature, responsible and knowledgeable for your age…….for ANY age actually.
I think I like your videos taking care of the boat and doing other chores the most than regular sailings. But overall you are one of my fav channels rn.
Thanks for taking the time to share mate, nice to see what your up to, and life of a sailor, love the bird singing happily in the background. Go well, brian in nz.
In the years I was in the US Navy, my favorite moments were working on the mast. The height was exciting for sure, but the view and the feel of the vessel and water below you is so intensified at the top. If you head to Micronesia, I cannot say enough great things about Truk Atoll.
Love these informational videos. But man my anxiety went through the roof up on the mast, lol. Great work! Hope to see more vids on your stay during cyclone season. Good luck. Stay safe!
Great video! Looked kinda rough for a bit. You are the man for climbing that mast! Lord knows I can't do that. Always something to repair on a boat. It never ends. Happy sailing!
The reason hose clamps have flat slotted screws is that you can put a lot more torque on them than other types. You can also usually use a 5/16 socket on them.
Garrett, I am married to a sailor and new to sailing myself since we bought our 24 foot Pacific Seacraft Dana 3 years ago. I enjoy seeing what you are up to and how you do things! When it comes to going up the mast, I can actually relate to your experience! I’m the one who does this for our boat. I’ve been up there 3 or 4 times in 3 years. And I’ve mounted the WINDEX just like you did. 😊 Our stick is about 40 feet…just like your video shows, it’s a long way up there…or a long way down! How tall is Hooligan’s stick? I’ve been told that if one can go up a mast, one can do anything when it comes to sailing. Love your adventures!!
As an old fart who did what you are doing now in the 1970's, i can only say, you deserve'. The real shines through all the time and that is what draws the other world to your voyage. Always be impeccable and the spirit will be there with you.
Looking forward to more adventures, but the never-ending maintenance also makes for great content. Glad to see that you're taking care of some of the old projects you've been meaning to do forever. Try to avoid infections, though, man!
You can use a prusik knot as a secondary safety when going up the mast. Only using one halyard is a bit dangerous as it can always fail. The prusik you can just slide up and down with you on a tensioned other hallyard/topping lift line...
Good morning Mr. Garrett. You must use canvas gloves to raise the anchor chain and these must always be in the chain box as helpers, otherwise your hands will have blisters and burns from rubbing. This will make it difficult for you when lifting or operating the winches. P.S. Remember the spider. 🕷️
Garrett are you or will you ever look for crew? You're so young, I think it would be good for you to have someone with you to join the adventure! Love the videos. Keep them coming!
That doesn’t sound sincere. Worry and care about him are two different things. If you could care donating to his Patreon goes a long way to help him take better care of 😊himself.
Try and get EcoFlow to sponsor you here. The alternator charger, a Delta 3 Plus/Delta Max/Delta Pro battery, some solar panels, and a glacier fridge (and maybe Wave 2 AC) would do you wonders.
@@garrettsadventure i have one and it’s great. Installing their alternator charger for my batteries with them here soon. I run it battery powered overnight with my bank
I got a spider bite on my knee and it swelled up really large. Then it started to turn purple and my blood vains started to turn purple up and down my legs. I ended up getting very sick and turned myself into the hospital. They said that if I hadn't have come to the hospital than I wouldn't have woke up the next morning. Those spider bites are scary. Took about three days till I checked myself into a hospital.
hey, at 4:18 you've got a blackscreen. Instead of deleting the video, you can just edit out the black screen in TH-cam studio (if you wan to, and you did so on another video). Great video! much love from new zealand
Quran 42:33 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 42:34 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for everyone who are patient and grateful.
Of course you can charge your lithium with any old alternator if you have a big ballast resistor and the right circuitry. TH-cam battery advice is a minefield, and I wouldn't even touch Reddit. Isolate it and charge/discharge it separately. Expect a lightning strike a year, so disconnecting cables is a good idea. If you can find a separate VHF, I'd leave it connected to a low antenna. I'm seeing all this bilge water and wondering if you have 1. A packing cord seal, and 2. A one inch prop shaft. I have 3 homemade dripless seals and one P.S.S. dripless carbon disk seal for a 1 inch shaft. I'd rather freight it to some island than watch your videos with salt water sloshing about and ruining the quality and safety of your boat. Your foretop is exceptional, for stuff like longwire antennas and lights. A furler has to be frequently yanked down and greased. I use John Deere AN102562 corn head grease and thicker TY6341 grease. They don't hurt rubber nor absorb water. You could use some lemon wax cans. Besides woodwork, they are great for plexiglas. You should know how to knock apart your prop shaft and motor flange mid - ocean. It's like those submarine movies. Close the leaks.
Garrett's Adventure uploads I watch. Plain and simple.
Garrett's the definition of free. Damn, you must have some pure braveness to start traveling like this and simply not care about all the unnecessary things in life. Takes balls.
"Pretty simple...I'm going to go downstairs and learn Norwegian." Greatest line from this trip.
Motor sounds like it's purring like a kitten! You are the drone master Garrett! Thanks for the vid!!! Stay safe young man.
I’m glad you are getting the boat projects done can’t wait to see the new windlass in action! Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.

Super interesting video as always! It's really nice to see such real sailing life without the usual social media fakeness.
Your production quality is insane now, incredible editing...audio...drone shots...wow!
Thanks! I'm glad you appreciate the effort
Loved the maintenance in this video! I could watch it all day everyday.
More soon!

Thanks again for such an awesome video!
Constant Torque hose clamps are the best. We use them at my work on all the diesel applications that see a lot of vibration.
Good to see your doing well.
Thank you Garrett, enjoyed the video.
Thanks for the video and update Garrett. See you on the next one 😊

Wow, what an adventure!
Garret nice update you have been busy. Has your foot healed? Going aloft looked like fun great view.
Great to see the projects getting do. Maybe some day you will be able to get a sea hood for your companionway slider.
I'm going to put one of before I do my next big passage. Too wet without it
@@garrettsadventure Right on. My Alberg 35 came without one. Made one out of plywood and FG. BIG difference.
Great to catch up with you. I'm looking forward to the upgrades.
You look so handsome in your new haircut 😍💇. It was a little scary to watch when you were in the mast 👀😜Nice video!

Come to Australia Garrett!!!

Eventually!

Yeah, I've taken people on and off. Someone more long term could be fun but it's hard to come across. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the new vid. I'm glad to see the updates and to hear the spider bite wasn't severe. How are your feet doing?
All healed up
Just came across your channel, great episode
I sure do worry about your health and safety, young man. Take care!

SUBSCRIBED 🎉. GREAT FOOTAGE GARRETT.....

This was another great video
How well does the Florence gear work for you on the boat? I like all the R&D they put into their products
Haven't gotten sunburnt through it so I'd say it works well
god bless you brother keep it up
Hii garrettttt!!!! Where have you been? Please keep safe, we'll be patiently waiting your video!
Nice video. Beware of halyard wrap, it can damage your forestay / cause it to break.
sweet drone shots

Where the sail to NZ video gone? I was watching it earlier
I changed the email on the music licensing website and forgot to add my channel to the account so it got copyrighted. Going to post again today.

Good looking haircut :)
What kind of boat is this?
Is there a way to donate to this young man’s adventure without joining patreon?

Hahaha why are you learning Norwegian? I learned it a few years ago, happy to give some tips and show/movie suggestions if you want
Because Norway will likely be my final destination on Hooligan
Anyone know more about the abandoned super yacht he mentions @ 5:21
dude, do you have some kind of harness on going up the mask?
Yeah bosuns chair
How did you cut your foot?
No idea
What harness are you using to self climb?
My friends harken chair
