    I am retired from auto service. With my new xt2 there is a learning curve. This was helpful in more ways than one. With old back and knees I don't move like I used to. I was grumbling to my self when I realized I have nothing to complain about.
    Good day to you, Sir.

    I have owned a lot of Cub Cadets in the past. I so regret buying a new XT2 GX 50 because it has been a nightmare. I have resorted to working on a no crank condition myself because the dealer just lets it sit for weeks. I really regret spending 4K on what turns out to be a MTD clapper with no DNA of old Cubs. Thinks for showing how I can get the deck off

    Excellent instructions and so easy! I would just advise anyone when raising the deck after the back pins are removed that my lever bounced back up with incredible force to stand clear as I was standing close and it nearly took some ribs out 🙀

    my xt2 42in all-weld aero force deck has some cable coming from the rear, and goes into some weld-on brace/bracket on the rear of deck, and there's a cotter pin, but after i remove it, the little plastic gromet thingamajig around the cable still wont pop out of the metal bracket. Plus, even if i remove the cable out of that bracket the other end, a braided thin wire leading to a spring on the deck - i cant remove the spring b/c theres a rod/brace on top of it and there's no room for tilting or angling the spring in order to get the hook end of spring out of the deck.

    Spending a couple of minutes to take off that belt cover makes it easier to pull the belt tensioner by giving you considerably more room to work with. Also it is easier to take a big 1/2 socket wrench with a 9/16" socket and pull the tension pully forward than mess around with the little hole and an extension.

  • @jonathanantonio-w1m
    @jonathanantonio-w1m ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, great video, thanks. I reinstalled my belt and it cut great for a few minutes and belt tensioning spring broke. Bought a new one and same thing happened. Noticed it was very hot. Suspect belt is rubbing spring and causing it to get hot and break. Any suggestions?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your are saying the belt tension spring broke? "belt tensioning spring broke" Twice?

    • @jonathanantonio-w1m
      @jonathanantonio-w1m ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines Yes, the belt tensioner spring broke. I bought a second one, installed the belt again and then that second spring broke. I noticed (the second time) that the spring was very hot. The OEM spring it black. I also noticed that some of the black coating was worn off. I'm guessing that my belt is rubbing on the tensioner spring. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I've got a third spring ordered and hoping not to break it!

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  ปีที่แล้ว

      What size mower deck do you have? Any chance did you install a mower deck belt before you had the spring issue? A belt rubbing a spring incorrectly would not make the spring break, it would make the belt break.

    • @jonathanantonio-w1m
      @jonathanantonio-w1m ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines It's an XT2, 54" deck. The problem happened after I removed and reinstalled the deck. I did not have the problem before I reinstalled the deck. I must be doing something wrong.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the belt is routed the wrong way? After the belt is on and If the spring is very tight and the belt feels just too tight? Maybe the belt is just not routed correctly? Without seeing the machine that’s all the advise I have. The video is on a 50” deck. I wonder if the routing is different on a 54”.

    Thanks for the quick and easy. I want to use mine to pull some smaller downed trees and larger branches out of the woods, but want to reduce the width (I have a 54") and get more ground clearance in case I need it. Not an every day thing, but a once or twice a year thing versus buying an ATV that I will only use once or twice a year if that.

    Does anyone know what transmission this mower has. It's got the bigger wheels and lug nuts so I'm thinking it's not a k46.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a sticker on your transmission with the model. OR take your model number from the sticker under the seat, go to a Cub Cadet parts look up site and find the part number, then google the part number and you will find the model of your transmission. It is just easier to look at the sticker on the transmission. I'm pretty sure there all Tuff Torq and many are the K46 depending on the year the mower was made.
