  • Tucker from MACkite discusses the Code Foils lineup in their "Foil Fridays" segment, emphasizing their exceptional qualities, which led to their inclusion in the shop's offerings despite having many other brands. He highlights two main series: the Code S Series and the Code R Series.
    Code S Series
    Designation: The 'S' potentially stands for 'surf' but also implies 'speed' due to its impressive glide and speed range.
    Characteristics: These foils are surf-oriented yet fast, offering a balance of maneuverability and speed, making them suitable for a variety of disciplines. They are especially noted for their ease of pumping and extra lift, which Tucker suggests might lead users to opt for a slightly smaller size than usual for maximized performance.
    Usage: Ideal for the majority, particularly in conditions ranging from light wind to more robust wave settings. Tucker personally prefers sizes 850 and 980 depending on conditions, highlighting their versatility across small waves and flat water.
    Code R Series
    Designation: The 'R' likely stands for 'race,' indicated by its extreme speed and glide capabilities.
    Characteristics: These high-aspect foils boast a significant span and are optimized for downwind racing and gliding due to their efficiency. Despite their size, they maintain low stall speeds and are still manageable in breaking waves, though their span may require attention to avoid issues.
    Usage: Best suited for enthusiasts focused on downwind activities. The 770 size is recommended for its speed and lower-end lift, offering an impressive balance of performance traits.
    Additional Components
    Stabilizers (Stabs): Two series of stabilizers complement the foils. The AR series is more surf-oriented, adding maneuverability and flow in turns, while the high-aspect stabs of the R series enhance directional stability and speed, suitable for both the R series and an upgraded S series performance.
    Construction and Design
    Materials and Build: The Code foils are noted for their clean, efficient design and stiffness, contributing to superior performance especially for heavier riders. The construction utilizes high-modulus carbon for added stiffness and durability.
    Overall
    Tucker praises the Code Foils for their intuitive performance, adaptability across various conditions, and high-quality construction. He underscores their potential to enhance the riding experience for both recreational and competitive foil users. The lineup is also anticipated to expand with an R series fuselage, further broadening the performance options available to enthusiasts.

      Code R Vs Eagle X

      That'd be a great video. I'll have to work on that when I get a moment and Eagle X back in my hands. I've ridden them both quite a bit now and I'd say the Eagle X is a little looser in the turn but not as much glide or pump ability. Both are incredibly fast with massive speed ranges. If I were a lighter rider, I'd probably go for Eagle X but riders over 180lbs will appreciate the stiffness of the Code system and R series. Especially at those spans and speeds. The mast position is 1-2" further forward on Code vs. F-one in most models. Boards which ride a little nose down will favor the F-ones but Code can adapt easily with a 0.5-1deg mast shim. 3d print files free on the code website -Tucker

    Code foils rock. R series are 13 AR not 12.

    That's some quality carbon. How do you find the stall speed compared with other wings of the same area and aspect ratio but thicker?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Really impressive stall speed and easy pumping on these. Compared to similar foils I'd say 2mph less. It's some Australian magic, IDK.... -Tucker

      @@MACkiteboarding Thanks Tucker. I don't have the money to splash on lots of small design change tests like some manufacturers but I have been designing my foils thinner and enjoying the speed increases, especially this year.

      @MACkiteboarding  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fluiditynz For sure thin, fast sections are the way to go. Just need to keep it stiff and foil out that wingtip so it handles breaching well and keeps the drag low in those lower lifting areas of the foil. -Tucker

    How would you compare the S series to the Fone sk8?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Sk8 is a little looser in the turn but S series has more glide, pump-ability, and speed range. I'm a very happy boy on either one. Heavier riders will prefer the stiffness of the Code foils -Tucker

    That's a total tease running the code foil with the ozone fusion double skin wing 😆

      Oh yeah, the range on that wing and foil are massive so they are well suited. I could literally ride that one setup for 99% of our conditions. -Tucker

    My personal opinion/ experience with the Code S….
    Upside: The Code S is a serious upgrade from the F-one SK8. Faster than the SK8, surfing better and you could downsize from what you were riding with the SK8.
    Downside: The Code S is not as good as SK8 for the foil drive though.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting insights! What do you think makes the Code foils less ideal for Foil drive? I do find the mast position is slightly further forward based on my preferences. -Tucker

      It needs some adjustments with the drive ? Maybe longer fuse and different tail . I rode it yesterday with the wing and it’s fast and fun to ride but with the drive it’s a little loose and not stable ? I am getting the 720 front wing that might work better ?

      @@surfertbone4333 I find the incredible low drag of the Code improves the Foil Drive battery life and the easy take off, of the Code, makes it particularly easy to Foil Drive. I’m using 980s/175/long fuse. Also of note, the Foil Drive owners personally use Code. They used to use Axis.

      Code is a huge step up from Armstrong. As a system, code mast connection is rock solid and the foil and it's HM mast are very stiff and thin.
