Just to let people know who haven't owned an analog synth before the Minilogue XD sounds the best when played live. I haven't found any digital instruments that sound as clear and amazing.
This is superb bang for the buck. The one thing I wish they'd change before it flies out to the shelves, is allowing the sequencer to be transposable using the keyboard (and over MIDI note ), during playback. That would make it PERFECT. ✌
Scott Johnson It means it could be even better, allowing the whole sequence to be shifted in pitch while it’s being reproduced by pressing different keys.
Before you get anything make sure you do some research. There’s a pretty big learning curve when it comes to learning the parameters and how the effect each other. Don’t get too overwhelmed.
This is the perfect companion for the Prologue in my opinion. This can be programmed with the sequencer and the Prologue can be played live. It's a combination I'm looking to put together
It *does* seem and sound incredible. Great featureset. Now of course the cliffhanger will be the price. If it's priced well this thing should sell like hotcakes.

A lot of ambient music depends on a great reverb to give it that deep cavernous sound. This has it but the 4 note may be a limitation. There are many secondhand synths which would give you a brilliant sound. Depending on your budget.

Was thinking the same thing, just bought an Arturia Microbrute myself and I don't think the sequencer can do anything like that, I thought it was much more rudimentary but I think I just suck at sequencing.

For the melody, you could control the volume of one of the oscillators so it's only heard on certain notes. Although I still can't quite wrap my head around the one in this video, so I'm not sure that's quite it.
He used the arpeggiator in conjunction with the sequencer, the sequencer played polyphonic chords for each step that in turn triggered the arpeggiator which played the notes in those chords in an arpeggiated pattern instead of playing the whole sustained chords hope that makes sense!
This product looks and sound great! Could this be used as a midi controller in say Ableton Live as well? I know that isn't it's basic function, I would just like to cut down on the amount of tools that I need to work. Less is more for me :-)
Can you tell me please how to make the XD's filter respond to velocity? I love the sounds! But i need to make it expressive in this way: harder velocity = more or less filter cutoff or res. Thank you for any help.

Newbie fanboy question here. Can I run the Minilogue together with the Monologue through mixer in the same song despite the mono stereo difference? Edti: I think I already figured this out. Do the leads with the mono synth and chords etc. with the stereo. Monologue tight in the middle, while Minilogue is spread wide around the it.
A couple of questions from someone new to synths: does this keyboards have a memory (for 'patches') or do you have to play it with real-time sound-making only? Does it have an arpeggiator and an on-board sequencer? Is the case black, or is it a dark/metallic silver colour?

And let me tell you that in sound spectre this Minilogue xd is quite impressive and even quite more expresive in some features. I preffer to get this one plus a Vox Continental or a Nord Electro 6

no you can't do that unfortunately. You can improvise using the same patch but only use up to 4 notes so your improvisation will generally cut into your sequence loop

Trig Mode (like the MicroKorg) to create Hold (for endless, long sustained notes) 2) LFO Destination to AMP/Mixer(s) for LFO Tremelo efx 3) Waaay more common sense SHIFT + Knob functions like: a. SHIFT + TEMPO knob to access full tempo range b. SHIFT + Voice Mode in ARP to increase the octave range. 4) 32 steps (Not sure if this is possible - hardware wise) this would be exponentially powerful (why create a Porche with a lawnmower engine?) 5) Sequencer Transpose - Like the OG Minilogue already has...

I am not an expert of synths, so I am wondering.. Since this Minilogue XD is integrated within Omnisphere.. When I use the synth to play Omnisphere, am I limited to 4 voices, or I would be using Omnisphere's polyphony? I wouldn't want to use Omnisphere and be limited to 4 voices..
Omnisphere's hardware integration basically uses the hardware synth as a controller, all the controls are automatically mapped to Omnisphere controls. Polyphony in Omnisphere is only limited by your computer's processor.
