I can attest to the improvement in tone, but on a different guitar. The Yamaha SA2200 semi-hollow body bridge has 4mm studs that screw right into the wood (no bushings!). This gives the tone a distinct quality that I never liked very much. I had to drill new holes, centered on the old holes, to accept the bushings. This was a bit traumatic on this very expensive and beautiful guitar, but I got it done. The holes were 12 mm diameter and I had to glue dowels into the old 4 mm holes and use a brad-point bit to drill the new holes. Fortunately the hole spacing did not change for the new holes. Once the new bridge was installed I was thrilled by the change in tone and dramatic increase in sustain. Now I love the sound of my Yamaha better than any other guitar I own. Thanks for posting this video -- I watched it before doing my modification--very helpful.

Always loved the look of an ABR but is their a benefit to replacing a tune o matic ?? Or just "aesthetically"

One thing I did is using white glue. I soak up the threads of the posts and insert them back to the studs. I screw in and out to permeate the threads of the studs. Screw down once more and clean glue excess. After 3-5 hours, I screw up until it snaps. Now screws ARE solid like Callaham screws. The gaps between the bridge holes AND top of the screws NEED white glue too. Soak the holes of the bridge and put it back to it's place.Clean up glue excess and don't forget the gap where the screwdriver enters When the bridge's glue is dried ..... you have a COMPLETE solid bridge/screws set .... saving $$$$$ . Get the same solid sustain and better clear tones with a humble little bottle of white glue.
    You're welcome !

I've been trying to contact Callaham guitars for a couple of weeks now to get an aged abr1 bridge and tailpiece - Nashville conversion. They must be closed due to cv19 ?

Is there any way to take them out if the threads are messed up?

Just use the same method but be prepared to ruin a bolt in the process.

sblm ni bridge guitar LP saya skru terpasang menghadap ke pickup..saya merasa kurang feel apabila bermain bermula di fret 13..
semasa menukar tali , timbul idea nak memcuba menghadap tail...wow saya berpuas hati setelah itu, tone ny rasa sedap dan bunyi lebih panjang...

I put a Callaham abr-1 on my les paul traditional with the Nashville studs,
Be warned that if you install the Callaham body inserts it makes the holes larger, I uninstalled my Callaham because it made my guitar very bass heavy, I guess the steel??? Idk?
But when I tried to reinstall my Nashville body inserts there loose, because the Callaham inserts were larger....
wish I would've known ahead of time

Do you mean bass heavy as in sound? I've got an SG Standard that I love, but it's a very bright guitar. It could use some darkening up.

nitemareman1 yea, it kinda darkens the tone up, in my experience, steel doesn’t belong on a Gibson if you asking me, I’d look at other alternatives first, but if you need darker tone, steel or graphite will do the trick, down side is it’s not just darker, but duller sounding, in my opinion of course, that is just my opinion and my experience

Yeah players need to really research and think things over before modding a good guitar. I almost bought this for my Les Paul
but after seeing many say what you said i went with FABER and the guitar sounds brighter and has more sustain now.
Plus IF i wanted i could put it back to stock because FABER inserts do not enlarge the bushing holes in the guitar.
I knew when i seen the Callaham inserts did not have ridges around the part that goes into the wood something was different.

Yes place a screw in the hole then tighten the original post in and it will lift out

BE WARNED! As another poster here also said this mod makes the guitar sound a bit darker/duller sounding so make sure that before you install the new Callaham inserts you are 100% sure about how they will effect the tone of your guitar because IF you decide you want to go back to stock the stock inserts will be too loose. The Callaham inserts are bigger in diameter than the stock ones so it enlarges the hole in the body making the old inserts useless. You would have to use glue with the old inserts.I prefer the Faber conversion because the guitars sound is brighter with more sustain.

Why does Gibson design the bridge to wobble in the first place? Must be a reason for it.
