Okay so I got the impression that the cannons were just an option to make the battle look more intense, I didn't think they did anything but then one of my Calvary man got ejected from his horse by one of those cannons.
So yes, those cannons do make a difference.
Once had my square formation fucked up by austrian artillery... and that is heart breaking

I've had some strange game breaking AI bugs like this too, quite often my soldiers will become unresponsive to orders if they're on the enemy side of the map and engaged. It seems to have something to do with a particular group of enemies Everytime. So I'll go kill one group myself and then they respond to my orders again. Also you must have a beastly PC lol. I can't even handle 400 NPCs without massive lag

Hey so, is it intentional that I can't join anyones retinue? Cuz I really wanted to fight in the Grand Armee, sort of work my way up the ranks, before I decided to actually be an officer.
I think the mod doesn't have freelancer. But you can try installing It manually to L'Aigle directory.
you could always enlist and work your way up from there
There is a dude who recruits in each capital and you can rank up in military depot now. Even have the uniform and all that stuff (but you stay a party leader)

U can change battle size on Documentaries/Mount and Blade Warband/rgl_config and press Ctrl + F write Battle Size and change you can increase the battle size by changing the 1 next to the battle size or changing the zeros (I don't recommend changing the zeros, the battle size gets too big)

An anti-cav square? Don't worry I know my tactics. You could make them fire at once when they're coming and then change them to melee

This might be late but go into your M&B warband file in documents and a go to rgl_config.txt. Before you do this make sure that in your warband options your battle size is already maxed out. The normal max battle size is 150. That means 150 soldiers on both sides can enter the battlefield. In rgl_config.txt look for battle_size. It should say it equals 1.0000. 1.0000 is the max size, which means it equals 150 soldiers. Now times that by how much you’re changing it to, let’s say 1.3000. Since you’re adding on .3 just multiply 150 by .3 and you’ll get 45, so you’ll have 195 soldiers on each side. I’d recommend if you have a decent pc and want huge battles then push the game to around 2.0000 or 3.0000. The only drawback to this is that you’ll have less impact on larger battles, but the plus is that you don’t have to rely on the reinforcement system as often and battles look much cooler.

use battlesizer but maybe your pc's fps will low
u can find a video on yt "how to increase battlesize"
Simple bro go to mount and blade confingration search for battle sizer there is 0.01 = 150 battel size 0.02 is 250 , 0.03 = 350 save as you want and go to save the changes but if you open mount and blade the size what you have selected in the sizer like mine is 600 units in the battle I can play up-to 750 troops in one map easily my Lenovo windows 10 but what hypo 800 has done out off my mind how he done this boom unbelievable

Viser, You can get the cannons at a Military depot. Each faction has one somewhere on the map.

You don't, their orders are under key number 9, they're technically allies and not your soldiers but you can command them to fire and such
How did you get so many troops on the field?
Somewhere in the rgl_config.txt file you will find battle_sizer and then for example 1.0000 (I think it were four digits, not sure) and if you put it higher, you can get more units than the 150 restriction. Remember, the amount of digits must remain the same and watch out you don't get your game to crash because you've got too many units (which on some computers, like mine, can happen fairly easily)

British artillery crewmen had Blue Uniforms.
RedTheRed owo you are right, they did. But those uniforms are not those of a British artilleryman - they are French. British artillery wore soft caps, not shakos
