- We visited a rattlesnake den and a garter snake den and found rattlesnakes, gopher snakes, racers, a rubber boa, and garter snakes emerging from their winter hibernacula! Snake season is finally here! #hibernaculum #gartersnake #rattlesnake
I'm with Wired, you're doing way better than we are down here in AZ. Snakes seem to be spoiled and only want 90's here. Great finds!
Thanks! It was a very productive trip. Lots of hiking to make it happen (and some good luck). Hopefully things turn around for you down there!
@@herpingbc it's just a matter of time. It always gets hot here.
I would think that 90 would be almost too hot. But the snakes know best.
@@herpingbc Had the temp gun out today, 98f on top of the rocks, 78f below. 5-6 rock rattlesnakes, all under rocks, but a few layers of rocks in a rockpile. Just heard them, didn't mess with them.
Unbelievable!!! Great job guys!!!
The orangest gopher snake I ever saw was also in that area. Just east of Vernon at a little pitch & putt golf course on the way out to Lavington.
Just saw my first gopher snake of the season here in Kamloops today. :)
Awesome! We love all the colour variations in gophers.
They got beautiful skin colour and they are deadly snakes. Goosebumps.
Thanks for watching! Beautiful indeed.
Dang! You guys absolutely crushed it! Doing better than me with snakes this year and I'm down in Maryland.
Thanks! It was a fun weekend! Hopefully a sign of things to come!
Very cool, still need to find myself a Gopher Snake one of these days on a trip to the interior, in the meantime I'll keep finding Garter Snakes here in Vancouver
We did the garters in the valley for a long time. There are some beautiful garters down there. But they can get a little tiring.
Kal lake?
Without being too specific (to protect den sites), yes. That general area for some of these snakes.
@@herpingbc totally get it
