The first kit i ever got while i was a full blown Chelsea fan was the 11/12 kit. My mom got it on discount cuz the season was over. I wore that kit until my cousin stole it in 2018. I wore it to school after the final. I adored that kit because pf all the kits, the one my mother could afford was the UCL winning kit. This team, this era, this win, made me cry. I was 13. Not in a pub, not around friends, just me, the tv and the nail-biting penalty shootout.
Far from it, Chelsea finished 3rd in their group on 10 points, level with Shaktar Doneskt. They had a +6 goal difference compared to Shaktar's +4. The only reason why Chelsea didn't progress to the next round is because of the superior head-to-jead record for Shaktar (as they scored more away goals against Chelsea in the group stages). This meant that Chelsea had to drop down to the Europa League since they finished 3rd and they went on to win the whole thing being defeated only once in 9 games en route to beating Benfica in the 2013 final of the Europa League.
As a Chelsea fan, the 2012 and the 2021 Champions League runs felt similar. Both years no one thought we would even make it out of the R16 let alone go to the final and win it.
Odds-defying achievements are and always will be something to say "I saw that happen" about. Chelsea 2012 was one of those. Liverpool 2005 was one of those. And that's coming from a lifelong Milan fan. I cried after that final lol.
That first CL win was justice for me as a Chelsea fan. The semi against Barca was justice for the previous times as discussed in your video and the final was justice for the shootout loss to Manchester United. I think looking back we maybe didn’t deserve to win that season but considering what had happened in the past seasons in the Champions League maybe we did for that alone.

At 13:00, Gary Cahill played with David Luiz at CB(Terry got red carded against Barcelona) and Lampard was the captain(I'm sure that the captain order was Terry, Lampard and Drogba in that period)
3:45 even if Grønkjær hadn't scored that goal, a draw was enough for Chelsea top Liverpool anyway (they were level on pts and GD was in Chelsea's favor). The value of the goal, while high, has been greatly misunderstood and mystified over time.
I remember this very well. Everyone at school was mocking the chelsea kids. We thought no chance they get past barca. And then bayern and then the amazing balloon that distracted robben, the scenes the next week.

The final was brutal. Bayern completely dominated them the entire game. Bayern was probably the most unlucky team during the last ~12 years in the champions league.
